Alex's review is right but I also like the new Zeitgeist
The film says how everything should be and most likely is going to be automated in the future and we should embrace that,...Alex is saying that the elite control all these new technologies, so if everything were automated they would'nt need the public around. If you think about it, I'm sure there is tons of supressed technology that only the elite have...so if were not allowed to use it now, what makes you think we would be able to use it in the future. In a ideolisitc perfect world the film is right, in the real world Alex is right. Now they key is to create a future somewhere in the middle. Get rid of the elite, then maybe we could create this utopia that addendum talks about.

us caution please!
the first time I saw Zeitgeist a year ago I was really into it. I did wonder about some of the edit techniques though, very hypnotic!
then the new one came out and I thought again - very hypnotic!
this film is very crafty. I now think Alex Jones may be right on with some of his ideas about it.
don't buy everything!

I'm watching his review in
I'm watching his review in parts, now, and he doesn't seem to be doing a hit piece on the film, so much as reinforcing salient points about the economy, Marxism, the New World Order, and so on. Of course I'm not all the way through his review, but that's how it sounds to me.

Well, if you take Alex
Well, if you take Alex Jones' interpretation and opinion on this movie at face value, then good luck. He is completely distorting what they are saying and drawing his own erroneous conclusions.
Name one thing that you take issue with in Alex's critique.
The reason some people are so in love with this film is because it has no positive agenda to defend apart from "technology is good."
Wow. Technology is good eh? Can't argue with that!
Technology good. Politics bad.
Resources good. Scarcity bad.
Happiness good. Sadness bad.
Peace good. War bad.
My question for the Zeitgeist lovers is this:
What are your practical concrete plans for the future?
Political involvement? No. Politics is bad. Remember?
Study economics? No. Economics is all about scarcity. Scarcity Bad!
Lifestyle? Oh yeah. Now we're talking...

What are you ranting about?
What are you ranting about? Did you erroneously conclude that because I criticized Jones for his distorted review that I must then be in love with the movie? I can criticize both, since they are not mutually exclusive criticisms.
90% of what he said is completely taken out of context or just plain distortion. The main distortion is that Alex keeps arguing points that are relevant in a monetary based system, but the film is promoting a non-monetary system so he is arguing oranges against apples. This whole notion that the movie promotes communism is just bizarre when they clearly argue individual liberty and not to be enslaved by anyone.
They are not promoting equality. That is just a false conclusion, and if I am wrong, then show me where they did. I think you missed the point of the movie.
What am I ranting about?
The topic of this thread.
Did I erroneously conclude that you must be in love with Zeitgeist Addendum because you took issue with Alex Jones on his critique?
No. I said "Zeitgeist Lovers" not "You". I just asked you to be specific about the elements of Alex's critique you didn't like.

If you named one specific thing in Alex Jones's Critique...
...that you disagreed with, then we could start to have a sensible discussion about the topic of this thread. Otherwise, I don't think that's going to happen.

"90% of what he said is
"90% of what he said is completely taken out of context or just plain distortion." - 90% is a pretty exact number, surely then your can actually support it by explaining what you think is "out of context or just plain distortion".
In what way?
In what way?
First, show me where in the
First, show me where in the film they argue or say that there should be a world Government. Please, and provide the time where they do say it, not where you may think they say it, i.e. your interpretation of something. if you can't find it, there is at least one thing Alex is distorting. There are many more time,s but let's start with that.
"World Unity" as described
The type of "World Unity" as described by the "Venus Project" is what AJ's referring to.
World Unity does not mean
World Unity does not mean world government. This is the kind of conclusion that makes it sound kooky. Unity means no wars, trading, talking etc, hmm sounds like what Ron Paul is saying.
Exactly. Will the unity be enforced?
I think if you asked a Zeitgeist fan, they would say "NO. NO. NO. People will just want to be united."
Of course, this begs this "Why?" question.
That's where the Zeitgeist fan will just shout at you for "not getting it".
Zeitgeist talks alot about "eradicating" and "abolishing" things. But of course, they will claim that this will not happen by force, it will happen spontaneously when people "get it".

Zeitgeist part 3: http://www2.b3ta.com/mind...
You eradicate and abolish
You eradicate and abolish things by agreement, not force. You don't abolish war by force, it is done by agreement. So when people start to see things differently they will agree, eventually, to eradicate the current system. Same way the barter system got eradicated. Not that big of a mystery.
On what planet?
"You eradicate and abolish things by agreement, not force."
Name anything that is against the law. Does this law have any meaning whatsoever without enforcement? Of course not!
"So when people start to see things differently they will agree, eventually, to eradicate the current system."
Even a cursory inspection of any history book will show you that is not true. We have seen some profound political changes in History. None of them occurred with 100% agreement of all parties concerned.
"Same way the barter system got eradicated."
No one eradicated barter. Its not illegal. People swap things all the time!
What on Earth are you talking about?

Awesome critique.
Alex Jones took the courageous step of taking the film makers at their word.
How did the makers of Zeitgeist Addendum plan to arrive at the technocratic utopia of the Venus Project?
From my experience as a former socialist, I tend to classify lefties according to their willingness to ask the "HOW?" question.
At one end of the spectrum we have the cranky old anarchist in Zeitgeist Addendum who would probably have an apoplectic fit if you tried to ask him HOW we get from HERE and NOW to THERE and THEN.
At the other end of the spectrum you have the scary-ass Commies who sometimes have it all worked out. Like the guys who issued this leaflet dated October 1st 2008:
http://www.cpgb-ml.org/do...
Many people start off at the Zeitgeist Addendum end of the lefty spectrum and end up at the scary ass Stalinist end when they get frustrated at the lack of progress towards Utopia.

You are spot on
'The end justifies the means' is the (inofficial) credo of practical socialism. The 'ends' appeals to the idealist, the 'means' to the mob. This system was discredited by the failure of soviet-style 'real-existing socialism'.
And the 'soft left' doesn't realize that their success (as in the western welfare system) is based on a corporate-capitalist economy and permanent credit expansion. That system is about to fail now.
Freedom brings People together
According to Fedor and jshowell...
...Zeitgeist Addendum was all about urban homesteading. Which is strange, as there is no mention of urban homesteading in the film.
Urban homesteaders are just one variety of hard-working self-employed people. I don't see how they are in any way connected with the Venus Project or a society without money, property, work, nations, borders or a society where technocrat controlled robots run everything.
Maybe its just me. Maybe I just don't "get it" ;-)

There are undeniable similarities of Zeitgeist
and this movie I came across lately. From what I've found the first Zeitgeist was shown in Nov. 07. This movie came out Oct 07. I would like to know if anyone else has seen this one to compare?
http://video.google.com/v...
oh yea
here is the website from where i first saw the clip of this movie
http://www.iamthewitness....
Yeah it's very interesting
I watched it a while back. The DC, London, Vatican triumvirate is pretty lopsided though. London - financial power - fiat nonsense isn't all that powerful. Vatican - spiritual power - no offense to catholics, but what a crappy religion (im agnostic so i reserve the right to critique all religion equally) When is the last time you heard of someone converting to catholicism? DC - military might - this is where all the power lies, if somone were to harness this power for good the Beefeaters (with their cylindrical afro hats) and Vatican Guard (with their flamboyantly colored pantaloons) could do nothing and the supposed power structure would crumble.
Yea it had me and wifie feeling all warm and fuzzy, but in the
morning I had a hell of a hangover.
Wow, these people started this ecovillage long before
the movie. How did they get brainwashed?????? OHHHHH, scary.

Leftover post smoking hippie commune from the 1960's...
not exactly news.
"post smokers"?!?!?!
is this some new slang im not familiar with?
"Barney Frank is a post smoker." I like it.
Yup... and among other things "post smoking" is known to cause
typogarphical erorrs.
The two main side effects of POST smoking:
1. Short-term memory loss.
2. Uh... I... What was that second one? Oh well...
No, sorry
They have built a very cool village off the grid. Most are professionals. Several Ron Paul supporters. This is what true individuals can look like. True Patriots.
Oh, so everyone who is NOT living in some "ecovillage" is
therefore a "false individual" and a "False Patriot."
Because the only TRUE individuals and patriots are living in ecovillage (or wishing they could...)
Keep slinging it kiddo...
I would be really cool in a hippie commune
I could play my guitar all day and eat berries and shit .

The "light", the "dot", at the very beginning is or can be used as a brain manipulation thingy, then the all enveloping bright flash of white light. Some say it's for the purpose of catching your attention, you know, more excitin'. The sound at this time is very similar to, if not a "chopper", "helicopter", military sound for what purpose?
The moment (from the very beginning) they start the "space music", it appears to be "space music" anyway, "military sounds" mixed in with but is actually the predominate, then the "machine gun"; ought to be an "immediate alarm". Some could say that this music is too: catch your interest, make it more exciting. This is not normal music, not normal sound(s). What else are they catchin'?
The colored eye-pulsating music: is in tune with the pulse of the pupil moving in and out. Brainwashing technique? Some say: "cool, with-it, hip, up-town, gettin' it on, excitin'".
Next: the flashes: of military showing weapon(s); of "people suffering" including one of the Twin Towers smoking, a plane hitting the Tower and people falling from a Twin Tower, whats the purpose, can be used as a brain deadening technique and can be used as an embedding, injecting thought(s). Can your mind catch all of these flashes? What else can be subtlety added that you're unaware of? ALL NEGATIVITY!
This is just 57 seconds or so into it! And, there are things that I have missed.
... ... ... ... ... ...
Laugh, their just "screwin' with ya". Too what extent?
I'm not paranoid but I'm not stupid either.
IT'S THE NEW WORLD ORDER, has their signature!
Good observations! I
Good observations! I actually doubt an intro sequence like that would be allowed to be broadcast on national TV, if anything it might induce epileptic fits in a minority of people.
Yeah Thanks
It could be written better, but I say that about everything that I write. My guess is that it just gets worse when they open their mouths. I've seen-heard some of it already.
I don't understand what all the fuss is about, that it moves so many people here. Sort-of an amusement 'n bewilderment at the same time that some of y'all have this interest.
... ... ...
This reminds me to an extent with a Tom Schneider show, about 20 years ago, crap, might have been 30 years ago, where a man came on and tried to explain that "evil, wicked" images were being embedded into advertising of alcohol products and probably some others, where: the evil wicked image things were in the "ice cubes of drinks" that were bein' promoted. Things like. spiders, skulls, devils, etc., can't remember it all. They may still be there, tool(s): magnify glass.
New World Order signature: evil, wickedness, death, destruction, control, oh: negativity. Any others?
Laugh, I might look again myself one of these days. I truly don't remember if I seen any years ago, possibly.
... ... ...
Actually, the movie, the small tid-bit that I wrote about is like: a confession, an admission that they were the ones behind these events. I'm pretty sure that some of the flash stuff contained "people suffering from "Katrina" as well as The Tower shots of course.
This was a thought inspired by the knowledge that "murderers like to brag about what they have done", nothin' more.
... ... ...
Anyway, ramble ramble.

Posted THIS on another thread... but hey since we're doubling up
And reposting the same stuff just to bump the thread... why the heck not do it again, right?
It's not a "film" its a piece of hypnotic propaganda full of BS.
It's a standard propaganda play piece, and you've been suckered into promoting it.
1) Use a few facts that the targeted viewer is likely to (predisposed to) agree with or find revelatory.
2) Add in a bunch of vague universally recognized and commonly desired "goals."
3) Throw out some additional vague promises of a "free lunch" via technology, or "science" or ___________.
4) Since you now have the viewer in an "agreeable" state of mind and willingly suspending their disbelief and discernment -- and you can now safely add in a host of lies, label specific scapegoats as the "bogeymen" that are preventing all of the desired goals.
5) Then, pull in all together in some nice utopian "dream world."
6) Get the (now convinced) viewer to proselytize for your cause.
Ba-bing, ba-bang, ba-boom... a new "convert" has been created.
This will always work with those who are young, idealistic, and or easily impressionable (and likewise thoroughly ignorant of history, science, and reality -- and are therefore lacking in discernment and are easy rubes.)
Sickening.
Oops, almost forgot step 7) Charge for copies or solicit donations or sell "auxiliary merchandise" and... PROFIT! (Cha-ching!)
Bump.
Bump.

I agree with geeksneek
I have been watching on this forum and others how everyone is either pissed off or totally "ga ga" over Zeitgeist addendum ... I had to watch it just because of the controversy. I think the movie had some great points and I don't believe there is anything "dangerous" in the movie only opinions and imagination that can be agreed on or not. I see the "Venus Project" as a beginning discussion of our need for a new paradigm shift with our concept of money and yes I see flaws with the model. I do not see service oriented needs disappearing anytime soon and robots will never be able to replace those services. How will you convince some to work giving service to others in a consistent way without some sort of incentive with out forcing them in some way. (ie laws or rules of society). We need ideas of imagination, creativity, and we need to understand this is uncharted territory. I can understand how religious people are pissed off with this movie and I am truly sorry the movie makers chose to alienate these people because it was not necessary. However this movie is doing what it was meant to do. It's a powerful catalyst for discussion about our next step, our new paradigm, what we want, what we don't want. Like it, love it or hate it.... this movie has gotten people talking, arguing and hashing out what's next, so for that I give this movie an A +
" I don't believe there is
"I don't believe there is anything "dangerous" in the movie" - Check out the intro to "Zeitgeist Addendum", it's more than just plain aesthetics. First it makes you focus on a single point like a hypnotist, then it incorporates these intense periods of fast flickering strobe like imagery, followed by periods of instant calm. That throws people's brains for a loop without them even really knowing about it, and then induces a far more mesmerized and suggestible state. It's as if it was produced by a PsyOps technician or something, or at least someone who knows brainwashing type techniques. It's also like what integrators do, they shout and scream at people, then offer them tea and biscuits, then shout and scream at them again, it's a way of breaking down people's mental barriers. The first film's intro also had this type of sequence, presented in a slightly different way with tanks and bombs bombarding people’s senses, with intersecting “serene” moments.
After doing a lot of editing work myself I look at this and think: "what is this guy trying to achieve with a sequence like this?". My conclusion is that he’s trying to produce something that's not designed to please people, but to actually try and reach into their brains a bit, so that information can be sort of more implanted than absorbed and accepted consciously. I don't know, but I certainly don't feel right about Zeitgeist from a technical stand point, it seems rather disturbing and manipulative.
Thanks for your input on the
Thanks for your input on the technical aspect, I am 100% non-TV viewer and watch about 5 movies a year on DVD since I am sensitive to what you are describing and honestly don't like the way TV "feels " when I watch it. I did indeed get that neurological hit when I first viewed it because I turned it off after 15 minutes. It was only after all this tremendous arguing that I went back and watched the rest of it. I still stand by what I say in terms of a catalyst for discussion in spite of possible nefarious intent by the makers of this film. I guess if comes down to this movie trying to hypnotize people it isn't working because people are not reacting like little sheep as in "Inconvenient Truth" They are thinking or pissed or ruminating about what would work in their minds that's different than what's been presented. It shows me personally in a powerful way that we are indeed waking up and that totally includes thoughtful people like yourself.
Thanks dude, a lot of people
Thanks dude, a lot of people I doubt even consider they might be looking at something like that.
