On Oct 13, 2008 there will be a money bomb for Michael's birthday. For those of you who do not know, Michael is a well principled man and was snubbed and had his original support by the local and State GOP pulled because he would not sign a statement to back John McCain. The Gop then rolled out a candidate to run against him and Michael went on to win the primary with only help from the grassroots.
Michael is very electable, but he needs our help. He is running against Brian "bailout" Baird in the 3rd congessional district in Washington State. Baird was/is a traitor to us here in the 3rd because he would not listen to us when he knew his constituents wanted no part of a bailout. He is a flip flopper and an incumbent who's time as come to just go away.

Please help with however much, or however little you can spare in these tough times. Lets give Michael the birthday present of being able to truly represent us in these tough times!

Polling
Have you seen polling on this race? How did you decide that Delavar is electable? This isn't a good year to be a Republican challenger but I haven't seen any numbers on this race.
Polling
In the primary, the incumbent, Baird, got around 50% of the vote. Two republicans were running and they got close to 40% of the vote. The other democrat running, Crist, was running on an anti-war platform (the incumbent flipped and is now pro-war) and she agrees with Michael Delavar on a few important issues. Michael will get all of the republican votes plus many of the protest votes that went to Crist. Crist herself is not backing Delavar but she is encouraging her followers to not vote for the incumbent.
So Baird being pro-war will lose important D votes and Delavar will pick up many of those. The republicans won't touch Baird because of his votes for the bailout, against the 5th amendment and private property, for social welfare, etc. Independants are already incredibly pro-Delavar.
All of this adds up to Delavar being an electable candidate and a very real threat to the incumbent. The incumbent has a million in the bank but the ground swell of grassroots real support is behind the true representative of the people and liberty, Michael Delavar!
An electable candidate
Great summary on why Delavar could win and Baird lose. As you may notice, Baird's tapping into his $1.5 million campaign chest by flooding the airwaves with commercials.
Baird also has been squirrelly with debates. This past Wends. Baird was expected to attend a debate in Centrailia, but he "bailed" out at the last minute. Seeing the reception Baird had at the last public debate, which was in Vancouver, it is no wonder he's avoiding the serious questions of his constituents.
There's a small rumbling to get a candidate forum for Baird and Delavar set up in Olympia. I don't know if this can be done because it all depends on Baird agreeing to a debate in Olympia, and if he will show up.
We need to build political strength and political will.

Aside from an incumbent who doesn't represent his constituents, or having the campaign energy of a tornado, he has an invisible hand guiding him. He will be in DC representing the people according to the Constitutional limitations.

I was working with Katja regarding some questions about the delegate process back in late Jan? She was so helpful. On one occasion I called and she wasnt home. This down to earth guy proceeds to help me with questions and manages to make lunch for a handful of kids with the phone crook'd between his shoulder & ear taking down names and phone numbers for Katja, while simultaneously sounding like Ward Cleaver through a hand cupped over the phone. I remember thinking- "this guy can multi-task...totally in control". I realised after a bit that i was talking to Michael. He totally earned my vote...and support.
