Brian Schweitzer, a Democrat, said Montana is “one of the only states in the country Ron Paul will be on the ballot as the Constitution candidate,” and “if you travel across Western Montana, you’ll actually see more Ron Paul signs than you do John McCain. … If you include Paul in the polling, he gets somewhere between five and eight percent. Ron Paul Can Still Be President
OK, first of all, Bob Barr would have to agree to step down from Presidential candidate to Vice-Presidential candidate and have the Libertarian Party get Ron Paul listed on the ballots as their Presidential candidate.
With Ron Paul being constantly invited on different news shows to commit on the economy, bail out packages, and the G7 meetings it gives Ron Paul to keep getting his message out. Right now, he is the ONLY elected official in the US Congress who has a better plan to deal with the mess we have with our economy.
More and more people are fed up, and Micheal Savage is starting a 3rd party because he no longer sees a difference between Republicans and Democrats. There are a lot of fiscal conservatives who feel abondon by either Obama or McCain. The conditions are ripe for a 3rdf party candidate to win the election, and the best of the 3rd party guys is Ron Paul.
Even if he is not on the ballot in the other 49 states, we the grassroots movement need to get the message out for people to write Ron Paul in on the ballots. Every presidential election a signifacnt percentage of voters who are disgusted with their 2 choices do a write in for Mickey Mouse.
Between the Libertarians, Ron Paul Supporters, fiscal conservatives, anti-war activists and the voters who would vote for Mickey Mouse we could scrounge up enough votes to get Ron Paul elected.

Strategy: Lose the Battle, Win the War
It is important to think strategically. In my opinion, the immediate goal in Montana or Louisiana must not be to win the states for Ron Paul, which would require a very unlikely miracle. If it occurs, great! But, I think the goal should be more pragmatic. The goal should be on winning the "War Against Economic Terrorists." We should use Ron's place on the ballot to create media events to show that the Freedom Revolution is alive and growing. More people are, perhaps, now ready to listen, not ready enough yet to vote for him, but we must take every opportunity to penetrate into their dumbed down consciousness. Economic pain makes the sound money medicine go down more easily.
So, we need to get Ron in front of people more. To do this, we need to focus on PR, i.e., on creating as much activity and excitement as possible and thereby bringing more of the liberty water to bear on the dam, which will eventually crumble, not in the near future, perhaps, but it will crumble. The unfortunate reality is that the consumer credit society probably will have to hit rock bottom for this to happen. We must be there at that time to nourish and water the seeds that we are planting now.

are you saying vote for Nader? I thought we had this discussion before, if Ron Paul endorses him then we all need to unite and vote for the same candidate (all third parties not just us Ron Paul supporters). There ought to be some sort of third party primary, as long as they agree to the core issues. Again Ron Paul is backing Chuck Baldwin, someone correct me if this has changed, why are we being distracted?

Why do we have to funnel down the number of candidates? I voted early, for Cynthia McKinney, and if she and Nader and Barr and Baldwin got together, and in some primary or convention, three were kicked out and one was left standing, I would be mad as hell! I dont support Bob Barr and his turncoat beliefs, I hate Chuck Baldwin and his reactionary, theological beliefs. I support Ron Paul's foreign policy, which is in line with Nader and McKinney. Whereas all five candidates agree on Foreign Policy, spying, civil liberties, and government oversight, I do not agree with a small percent of Ron Paul's domestic policies, and more than half of the domestic policies of Barr and Baldwin.
On the other hand, I tend to agree with McKinney and Nader's domestic policies. Why should my choices out of 4 or 5 similar but different candidates be reduced to only one, who I might not agree with on key issues?
And the consensus on this site is that we need to back one single candidate, and 9 times out of 10 that candidate is Chuck Baldwin: a man I can't support.
I thought Ron Paul was backing Chuck Baldwin?
are we giving up on Chuck? Don't we need to unite rather than spread our votes out? Is Paul asking us to vote for him? Isn't our main goal to get a Patriot in office?

win in Montana, but I don't understand how that could happen if he has 5% and the McBama's each have 45%. How could he win? If someone could explain I would really appreciate it.

IF WE CAMPAIGN OUR A**ES OFF FOR HIM.
The polls had Jesse Ventura at <5% just three weeks before the election. Then he won with something like 38%.
We don't need a majority. Just a plurality.
As best as I can tell, there will be 5 candidates on the ballot in MT:
Ron Paul (Constitution)
Bob Barr (Libertarian)
John McCain (Republican)
Barry Obama (Democrat)
Ralph Nader (Independent)
Additionally, there are at least two write-in candidates:
Cynthia McKinney (Green)
Chuck Baldwin (Constitution).
Since write-ins seldom get more than a handful of votes, let's say write in gets 1% total. Also, consider that Bob Barr is not going to be likely to do well in Montana. Historically, the LP in Montana has gotten less than half a percent. And most LP in Montana would probably vote for Ron Paul, since he's on the ballot. So, let's give Bob Barr a token 1% also. That leaves 98% for the other 4.
Ralph got 6% in Montana in 2000, but only 1.4% in 2004. Let's give him 3% this year, as an estimate.
So, with 95% of the vote up for grabs between McBama and Paul, 32% is all it would take to win, assuming near-equal support.
So, can we make the jump from 5 to 8% in the polls, to 32%, in 3 weeks?

This decision is rather painful for me, as it will be the first Presidential election for me (since 1976) in which I will not be voting for the Libertarian. It looks as though the Barr Campaign has burned that bridge, and it likely won’t be rebuilt until at least 2010. But still I reach out, optimistic sentimental sap that I am, and hope Barr does well in Georgia and Texas.
Then.. after Sidney and Hussein each garner less than 270 Electors while McKinney picks up DC's 3 or Baldwin picks up Idaho's 4 or Paul wins Montana's 3 or Barr sweeps Georgia's 13, Republican Electors will be loathe to let the House give the Election to Barack, and could very well compromise on a Paul/Palin ticket going into the Electoral College.
Compromise: a way for Republicans to save face and for Americans to save their Republic.

We do have to act very fast as some of the media require a two week advance copy of the ad. The news papers and radio are much faster with ads and don't need long lead times.
I did hear while out campaigning for local candidates a Romney supporter during the primary tell me she and her husband are voting for Ron Paul, they sure have not forgotten what I was talking about before the primary.

We all vote on paper ballots here. We have 56 counties and 44 of them use optical scanners for vote counting (ES 100) but it is possible to have one's vote counted by hand if the voter requests it. Each election judge has a special envelope to put all ballots that come with a request to be hand-counted in. I have been trying to get the word out about the WTP lawsuit filed involving certification of the vote counting machines. Every single one of us needs to contact our county's election office demanding to see the certification reports. One wonders whether
the VP Peroutka or someone else will campaign in Montana? Paul-Goldwater will be on the ballot in LA and neither Barr nor Baldwin will be on the ballot. I heard Goldwater will do some campaigning.
Apart from Republicans and Independents, the campaigner in Montana should concentrate on specifically Democrats. The 2nd. AMendment is important in MN
to Democrats as well and Obama offers them zero, NRA F rating, McCain C and Paul A+ rating. Also on other issues like civil liberties, the war, the Patiot Act, FISA, big govt. a lot of votes from Democrats can be drawn.

I met him in 2004 when he was running for Pres. (I voted for him then.) He's a straight shooter, with a really strong interest in states' rights. Just the kind of man I could see Montanans nominating to help out our good Doctor.

Jesse Ventura's Vote of No Confidence
Remember when Jesse Ventura was talking about a vote of no confidence on the two major party canidates. I think that just to prove a point, we should go full blast in Montana and try to win those electoral votes for Ron Paul. I think that would send the cold shivers up and down the political spectrum that they better start listening or a third party could make a real coup in the next election.
I'd pitch into a money bomb for that cause in a second.
