Ron Paul: The Ultimate "OCTOBER SURPRISE!" UPDATED PLAN FOR ACTION

We are in one "mell of a hess" in this country when the two major candidates vying to become the "titular" leader of our once great country are each sucking at different "teats" of corporatism and personal ambition, and consequently, are "udderly" devoid of redeeming, social value.
Obama's campaigning for the unprincipled, Kenyan socialist, Odinga,
and his other questionable activities and associations that continue to crop up and are, subsequently, covered up by his campaign, e.g., his association with the radical ACORN organization that has been implicated many times over in voter registration fraud, his involvement with Weather Underground terrorist leaders, William Ayers and Bernadette Dohrn, and the corrupt, Chicago political machine, etc., etc., ad nauseum, are only acceptable if one is inclined to accept a clandestine, socialist takeover and destruction of the American Republic.
The Odinga association is startling enough, but the connection with Ayers is even more insidious because of Ayers' prominence now in the field of education. He is nationally "respected" by academics because of his professorial position at the University of Illinois in Chicago from which he has launched a campaign to influence the minds of young teachers and their students to fulfill his socialist agenda. He has switched from his "in-your-face" violent, revolutionary acts of the sixties to his current efforts to revolutionize America by gaining control of young minds. And, I believe that these efforts are succeeding, given the blind adoration given to Barack Obama, especially by young people.
McCain's campaign, on the other hand, provides no oasis from which to escape the Constitutional and economic wasteland through which we now must travel. His one-track, "surging" mentality will continue the imperialistic hegemony that is more of a blight on the global landscape than the Roman, British, Soviet, Japanese, and French empires all rolled into one. He has no clue as to how to extricate us from our current, economic mess, as he has candidly admitted in the past, and only mouths expedient, unworkable, economic proposals for political gain.
Check out the other videos on the foregoing web site, but especially view the one regarding his medical history of malignant melanoma (four times), the last incident occurring in 2002. Since the first one, it has been over 8 years and there is about a 60% chance of survival at 10 years and this does not take into account his age which can reduce his chance of surviving his first term. With Sarah Palin waiting in the wings, this is truly an incredibly disturbing scenario. But, then again, our faltering constitutional government may not survive Obama's first year or perhaps even his first month.
In this great country, it never ceases to amaze me that we can never find truly exceptional candidates for the highest office in our land. Continually, I find that I am faced with a choice of two evils or voting my conscience for a candidate who has no sizeable support. But, it should not, I suppose, be surprising, when I recall that the candidates selected are just the manipulable ones that the corporate and militaristic puppeteers want to be dancing on their strings.
Only one of the 2008 Presidential candidates, 10 term-Congressman, Ron Paul, is demonstrably not manipulable by the miltary-industrial complex. He accurately forecast our current, economic collapse. Only he has demonstrated the intelligence, acumen, common sense and unadulterated respect for the Constitution that can provide the wherewithal to guide America through the dark days ahead.
Dr. Paul's support in the country is far greater than has been recognized in the past. The motivation and capacity of his supporters to raise large amounts of money in short periods of time is legendary, witness the record breaking haul of over $6 million in a single 24-hour period on December 16, 2007. Imagine what would happen, if he now agreed to throw his hat into the ring again, given the economic crisis that is gripping the nation and the adolescent posturing of Obama and McCain regarding a solution. All of the political bravado in the world will not solve the problem. Only a reasoned, pragmatic approach will help us dig ourselves out from under all of the political B.S. that has been heaped upon us.
Thus, I urge you to read and sign the following petition to encourage Dr. Paul to provide a much needed choice for the electorate by agreeing to run as an Independent on the Constitutional Party ticket that is already on the ballot in 37 states with Chuck Baldwin as its candidate. Baldwin was an avid advocate for Dr. Paul and would, doubtless, defer to his candidacy. At the very least by doing so, Congressman Paul will draw more attention to the Campaign for Liberty and to what needs to be done to get America back on the right track. Perhaps in the process he will wake more people up to what is coming down the pike for the entire world, if we continue to pander to the military-industrial complex.
With the Treasury Department, under former Goldman Sachs executive, Henry Paulson, turning to his company to watch the hen house during the bailout and also buying shares in banks, we are moving ever closer to total corporate control of the government, which, by the way, is the actual definition of fascism.
Isn't it ironic that Congressman Paul is more in demand for interviews now than before as the economy is crashing and on the verge of burning? Don't we need an elder statesman as president and not either of two perpetual, emotional adolescents, one of whom would foster the socialist takeover of this country and the other who would stare glassy eyed as it happened, with his gaze fixed on the boogieman of "islamic extremism" and his erratic finger trembling on the trigger of economic, or even nuclear, holocaust?

With due regard for the shortness of time before the November 4 election, I think that the petition idea referenced above, while a good one, cannot achieve its purpose because we don't have the luxury of the time to try to convince Ron Paul and others of the need for him to be the shadow candidate on the ballot.
Simply put, we need to pull enough votes away from Obama and McCain to prevent either from getting an electoral college majority.
We must get people out to vote for ANYONE and everyone but the two major candidates. Ron Paul is on the ballot in Montana and Louisiana at least. Other third party candidates are also on ballots in many other states as well.
We have to get out the vote for those who oppose McBama, for there really is only one major, political party when you come right down to it. The members only differ in shades of gray. It is still all dark where freedom does not prevail.
So, whatever your presidential preference, I say, "Go for it, but go for it, not as a protest vote, but as a vote of passionate conscience with the intention of making a difference in this election and encourage everyone you meet to aspire to such passionate elegance."
You can do it! We can do it!

How many electors do they need in getting a majority, how many would third party candidates need to prevent them from getting theirs? If this did happen, what would they do next? Who would be president? Thanks. Do you think the third party vote will most likely be taking away votes from McWar or OBomba?

Lose the Battle, Win the War
It bears repeating. It is important to think strategically. In my opinion, the immediate goal in Montana or Louisiana must not be to win the states for Ron Paul, which would require a very unlikely miracle. If it occurs, great! But, I think the goal should be more pragmatic. The goal should be on winning the "War Against Economic Terrorists." We should use Ron's place on the ballot to create media events to show that the Freedom Revolution is alive and growing. More people are, perhaps, now ready to listen, not ready enough yet to vote for him, but we must take every opportunity to penetrate into their dumbed down consciousness. Economic pain makes the sound money medicine go down more easily.
So, we need to get Ron in front of people more. To do this, we need to focus on PR, i.e., on creating as much activity and excitement as possible and thereby bringing more of the liberty water to bear on the dam, which will eventually crumble, not in the near future, perhaps, but it will crumble. The unfortunate reality is that the consumer credit society probably will have to hit rock bottom for this to happen. We must be there at that time to nourish and water the seeds that we are planting now.
Get Ron's Message in Front of People While the Getting is Good
In another post, "Ron Paul's Clear Direction," the author rightly points out that it is inadvisable to write in Ron Paul's name. He says that Ron Paul has endorsed Chuck Baldwin and to write in Ron Paul's name would be to go against Ron's direction and to dilute the vote for Baldwin. But, I would point out that it is especially not a good idea, if you don't know what the rules are in your state. It may simply be a wasted vote, because in most states, a candidate must REGISTER as a WRITE-IN candidate, believe it or not, or write-in votes are not counted.
But, what about the idea of diluting the vote for Baldwin by writing in Ron Paul where that is possible, which I think is rare. Also, there are states where Baldwin is not on the ballot. What then? Let's look at the situation logically. Is there any chance for Baldwin to win? Trick question, huh? Is there really any chance that a good turn out and showing in the single digits would mean anything, given that most people know nothing about Chuck Baldwin? Another trick question, obviously.
So, what are we up to at this late point in the game, anyway? We obviously have no power to influence this presidential election, all wishful thinking aside. Someone like Ralph Nader does have the opportunity to do so, because he has national visibility and a track record of being the gadfly in politics. In fact, I saw an article in which the author said that McBama had taken over his lines relating to the current crisis, lines that he had spoken long ago. The author said that he has never forgiven Ralph for bringing us the worst president in history, but that he was glad that he was still speaking out in this election. Nader has an opportunity to influence the debate and perhaps to influence policy through getting people thinking outside the box of mindless acceptance of the status quo now that they are hurting economically.
By choosing not to continue the campaign as a third party candidate, Ron Paul has already diluted his potential impact on the American public. He is still in the news, but not so much as he would be had he agreed to be an independent candidate behind whom the Libertarians and Constitutionalists and even the Nadarists and former Perotians could join forces to make a national statement.
So, the thought of diluting Baldwin's vote to me is a nonissue.The most important issue is to get Ron Paul front and center in this time of crisis.
THE QUESTION FOR US IS HOW CAN WE BEST DO THIS?
And, we need to do it quickly and not just debate the issue.
We want Ron in the news! If voting for him in droves in Louisiana and Montana can do that, then we need to do that. But, that is not enough. We need to mobilize the creativity of the meetup groups to have "Wizard of Oz" meetings, or whatever. But, we need to get Ron Paul more press! We need to get his message out in front of people so that it may influence them to vote for Ron Paul candidates in other races. And, everyone read Ellen Brown's book Web of Debt mentioned in an earlier comment.

This decision is rather painful for me, as it will be the first Presidential election for me (since 1976) in which I will not be voting for the Libertarian. It looks as though the Barr Campaign has burned that bridge, and it likely won’t be rebuilt until at least 2010. But still I reach out, optimistic sentimental sap that I am, and hope Barr does well in Georgia and Texas.
Then.. after Sidney and Hussein each garner less than 270 Electors while McKinney picks up DC's 3 or Baldwin picks up Idaho's 4 or Paul wins Montana's 3 or Barr sweeps Georgia's 13, Republican Electors will be loathe to let the House give the Election to Barack, and could very well compromise on a Paul/Palin ticket going into the Electoral College.
Compromise: a way for Republicans to save face and for Americans to save their Republic.

For many years, Dr. Ron Paul has added his voice in the political arena to the voices of those in economic circles who are not distracted by the magician banker's sleight of hand. These perceptive people have been seeing clearly the devastation that the banking cartels have been wreaking upon this country and even the world for a very long time. Only now is the average person beginning to feel the the vice-like grip of the private bankers who are squeezing each and every one of us. Dr. Paul has been a voice crying in the political wilderness. Now, people may be willing to listen more closely, if we can again get him the platform from which to speak.
Dr. Paul has been telling people that the current financial crisis was coming and what to do about it. But, often people only hear what they think in their own minds, not what is being said. Now, he can be like Toto, the little audacious dog in the Wizard of Oz movie, and pull the curtain back to expose how the Banker Wizards are creating money out of thin air by creating debt, which is nothing more than electonic entries on a balance sheet. But, we must get him in front of the Wizards' screens to show people what is going on now that everyone is hurting and looking for guidance, even if they still have difficulty hearing because of being lost in their prized beliefs or in their complacency.

The petition referenced in the post above is probably an approach that will be too slow to accomplish this important purpose. We need to think even more creatively--each and everyone of us--how to make Ron Paul a viable option for voters on November 4. But, more importantly, we must not just think and type, we must act with resolve. Time is not on our side, but the Truth is.

I'd be more inclined to support this...
...if a new campaign team emerges. I gave my max last year, still love and respect Dr Paul, but not his campaign. Too many bad ads, and bad decisions in Iowa and Michigan; I witnessed the latter myself and learned about Iowa when attending the Rally in Minneapolis. Plus too much nepotism.
If I learn that someone new and more competent will be in charge, I will gladly be good for another $2300. But time is running out....

The Master Statesman Speaketh
Here is a recent interview with Dr. Paul re: the bailout and the likelihood of a 10-year long economic bottom. For those of you who don't care for Alex Jones, just listen selectively, because Ron Paul has some important things to say regarding martial law and the government's wanting to be lawless and not be held accountable.
"Ultimately, the only thing that counts is our freedom. You know, we could be very, very poor, we could wipe out a lot of wealth in this country, but if we had our freedoms and the market and sound money, we would all go back to work quickly. We would help our neighbors and our friends and we would be wealthy in a short time period of time. Are we going to have martial law or we gonna have more freedoms and the more problems that we have the more likely it is that we will have martial law, so I think they anticipate and make plans for these sorts of things."
He talks about always having a transition plan by assisting people temporarily while cutting spending overseas and finally he muses regarding the likelihood that the pork sweetened bailout will pass.
"It looks like they are going to defy the American people. And, it tells you how close the two parties are." He talks about both McCain and Obama endorsing the bailout. "I reject the two party system....They think they are like God and can control everything and they don't realize that the market really is more powerful than all the bankers and all the politicians.... "

Also what do you mean by "Independent Candidate Write-In" on the ballot. I have been under the impression that a specific candidate must register as a write-in candidate. Are you saying that Baldwin is registered for example in California officially as a write-in candidate?

Here's how it works, folks...
and any Constitutional scholar please correct me, if I'm wrong. The voters of each state do not elect the president. The voters choose a slate of electors committed to supporting a particular presidential candidate. Between the election and the the polling of the electors, a President-elect (Chuck Baldwin?) could direct his slates of electors to casts their votes for Ron Paul. If enough electors did so, Ron Paul would be the President-elect until his inauguration as president in January.

This is exactly how it works. If Chuck Baldwin won the popular vote in enough states in which to win 270 electors, and then asked the electors for the Constitution Party to vote for Ron Paul, this would indeed happen.

I think that this is a decision for Michael Nystrom to make as the webmaster. Contact him to suggest that the piece be put on the front page of the Daily Paul. I'll post wherever else I can. I have sent out the petition to my mailing list and a number of people have signed.
