Alaska is Ron Paul country! We are proud to have an uncompromising constitutional man running for the Senate. Check out www.birdforsenate.com. A money bomb for him is in the works. 1. Senators were never supposed to be elected by popular vote. The original intent of founders was that senators were to be appointed by state legislatures.
2. Representatives were supposed to represent no more than 30,000 people.

This is why we need to support all the constitution minded candidates that are running. Sure there are not near enough for a majority. but the few will build a solid foundation for the next election cycle. They can educate other members of congress. It can be done. Look at Glenn Beck since he had Dr. Paul on his show. He is coming around. And I am seeing an awakening amongst some of my family and friends. Why not try to use the system against the ones who want total control?

If Ted Stevens comes out of his trial "not guilty", he will win the election, easily.
If Ted Stevens is found guilty, then we need to get the Alaska GOP to endorse Bob Bird. I am sure it is too late for a replacement candidate to be put on the ballot, and I am reasonably certain it would be too late to get a write-in candidate certified.
Bob is a great guy and he'd be a superb senator. He ran against Ted in 1990 (before Ted was known to be corrupt) and Bob got 30% then, in the GOP primary against Ted.

If Ted does escapes conviction, it likely wont be an easy win being he did support the "bail out", and that has a lot of people a bit steamed! And Begich is not much better.

Likely? I don't know. Maybe not. But I could see it happening.
Begich seems to be only popular in Anchorage. And why he is, is beyond me. He's all smoke and mirrors, and every bit as corrupt as Ted.
But I think Alaskans will prefer a corrupt bastard that is the longest serving Republican versus a corrupt young wannabe that will have no clout.
Ted is considered by many to be about the only the reason rural Alaska is even a step beyond the stone age.

He was first appointed to the Senate in 1968, forty years ago, by Gov. Wally Hickel in his first stint as guv.
Hickel, this year, said it was time for Ted to go (but I think he has backed off of that stand lately).
Uncle Ted turns 85 next month. He doesn't look a day over 95.
