The Corporation

It has some good observations but one still has to watch our for the socialistic conclusions. An understanding of Bastiat's "The Law" and a little austrian economics will go a long way in this.

Ummm... the 'evil corporation'

was apparently charging people making 2 dollars a day "1/4 of their income for water." That amounts to 50 cents a day, or fifteen dollars a month. It doesn't sound like Bechtel was screwing over its customers it sounds like its customers were were underpaid.

And, while I will concede it was 'wack' that they could not legally gather rain water, it's not Bechtel's fault that the Bolivian Government was stupid, and willing to sell that right to the highest bidder.

The government, not corporations was at the heart of this 'tragedy' (I use that term loosely).

Spin it anyway you like

Taking someones land because they didn't pay for rain water and no real attemp to create a fair system,,,,PLEASE

Privatize water, outlaw government.

Stop blaming private enterprise, when really it's government that's the problem!

The Bolivian government gave all kinds of tax breaks and incentives to Bechtel to come and manage the water because the government was too corrupt and inept to do it themselves. In their desperation they gave powers to Bechtel they had no right in giving always. Only in a socialist, tyrannical society does to government have the power to control the rainwater I collect on my property! Of course, the government enforced a monopoly for Bechtel. Imagine if competition had been legal. Water prices would have plummeted and quality and quantity would have sky rocketed, as they always in the free and unregulated market. There was clearly a demand for water. There are plenty of capitalized, Western industries that could have competed to meet demand. Of course, the government said that no one else was allowed to do so.

I am most certainly opposed to the use of government force to attack peaceful protests. In a free society people should be able to express themselves limitlessly. However, I would submit the possibility that the peaceful protest became violent because of the protesters initiated force. While I have NO evidence to support that claim, one must accept it as a possibility.

Ideally, every individual and family would have been able to privatize his/her/their own water. The technology for water purification systems, mostly produced in the United States, is so vast and inexpensive that I would imagine local, nearly individual production is eminently feasible and economically stimulating.

On a last note, I agree with the video when it mentions the IMF and World Bank. However, the problem is not the high interest loans. Nor is the problem the regulation they impose. The problem is that their agreements are made with governments, which are inherently economically irrational. Microloans to individuals are the way to go... along with protection of private property, private contracts, and individual rights.

"The Corporation" Parts 1 thru 15 ...

(of which the video clip in the post is a part of) - Is one of the best insights into the criminal minds and internal workings of the elitist industrialists and their agenda for our world. I recommend that everyone take the time to view all 15 parts. Former CEO's of many of the companies lend a credible insight into all phases of their base corruption and manipulation.

Bechtel has left Bolivia

Freedom brings People together

Thank you. This is sad and

Thank you. This is sad and outrageous. I call to God for Justice. I've passed this article on.

Whats worse

The company was an american one

how sick, those people just

how sick, those people just want what God gave them a right to, drink water. this is a reminder of the greed of the banksta we are up against.

How sick indeed...

they brought in a corporation to clean and purify their water and those corporate bastards had the audacity to charge the locals around 50 cents a day for the services they provided. Those fucking capitalist pigs should have done everything for free for those poor Bolivians.

They should have been free to exercise their God given right to drink untreated run off from the filthy industries that we've outsourced to them from America, Europe, and the rest of the 'first world.'

God bless you Comrade Troy, for being so enlightened.

Death to the bourgeoisie!

But on a more serious note. The issue here is not Bechtel, it's the Bolivian government. They sold their peoples rights, and they failed to create economic conditions where their citizens could earn a living wage. The corporation was charging (what appears to me to be) a fair amount for their services.

This is amazing! Thank you for the post.
