Ron Paul will be an "official" write-in candidate in California!!!

In California, you must have 55 declared electors filed with the Secretary of State's office before you become an "official" write-in candidate for president. Unless a voter writes in an "official" write-in candidate for an office, his or her vote doesn't count.
Gail Lightfoot has been spearheading a drive to get the required number of electors, and I just got an email from her that Evelyn Mendez, Program Manager Candidates & Elections in the California Secretary of State's office, indicates we have 70 completed elector forms! Gail is working with her to finalize the 55 electors.
Bottom Line:
Ron Paul will be an official write-in candidate for the office of president in California! If you write in "Ron Paul," it WILL count!!!
Now I can actually vote for someone!

Gail says the Secretary of State called her today to expedite finalizing the list. It should be on the web site TODAY sometime (Thursday)!

I got this message from Gail today:
I spoke to Eric Garris this morning and he checked directly with the SoS because of emails saying we are incorrect and need Ron Paul's signature. The Election Code has changed -- as usual -- and those individuals who go to other sections and find other rules that don't apply in this case are all wrong. We have definitely qualified Write in votes for Ron Paul to be counted. That is a sure thing -- it can be taken to the bank or the media as the case may be. Eric will get this up on Lew Rockwell's web site and Sarah Foster will have it on World Net Daily. Several others are sending notices to their local papers. The SoS will notify the Elections Offices around the state. They have my ranked list to determine the top 55 by e and snail mail.

there are 3 in Montana and
there are 9 in Louisiana...
that is 68 total electors he could win!! In a close election that would throw the actual voting for the President to the House of Representatives..

I am so relieved because I do not want to vote for Barr though I wouldn't mind at all supporting the Libertarian party and the groundwork for freedom they have been doing all these years. Barr though seems to be a Libertarian in name only and not only do I not trust him, but I dislike his arrogant and egotistical ways. I was in a quandry over what to do (not that my vote counts for much anyway) but I did want to cast my vote against the 2 party monopoly and I was afraid that I would have to vote for Nadar to send my message.

Technically, when you vote for Ron Paul, you will be voting for the slate of electors who have declared they will vote for Ron Paul (and Gail Lightfoot as V.P.). That's how it works whether you're a "certified" candidate or a "write-in" candidate. In the email I saw from Evelyn Mendez, she said he was now qualified as a Presidential write-in candidate.

Oh, am I glad I was able to check in here today and find THIS! :D But that's a very important question, whether RP himself has agreed to be on the CA ballot and has done whatever it is he himself needs to do to make this "official." How do we find out the status of this? Do we know whether that is part of Gail Lightfoot's final work to secure him on the Golden State's ballot?
I desperately want to vote for Ron Paul (again)! However, if he wants our votes going to Chuck Baldwin (e.g., strategically more likely to be successful, or whatever), then I'd do that...if it's RP's request.
Gail Lightfoot has long been active in the Libertarian Party. I voted for her long ago for some office or other (don't recall which one).
Sure hope this thread goes onto the main page. I'm not able to get online as often as I used to (to make an understatement), and don't want to lose track of this thread. Californians, please keep this one bumped!

Groovy link! From that site, i learned every candidate's name in 7 languages! Now I'm not sure if I should write in Ron Paul's name in English or Tagalog or maybe Chinese, Korean, or Japanese (Lon Paur?). LOL.

My guess it will be up on the SoS's web site sometime around Friday this week or early next week.
I have the email from Gail, and it contains the email from Evelyn Mendez confirming that there are 70 elector declarations in the SoS's office. The SoS will post the slate of electors to their web site once the list of 55 is finalized.
If you're concerned about it, don't send in your absentee ballot yet, and wait for the publication of the list. I'll update this message or post a new one once the list is up.
Gail is extremely reliable, though, and I am confident that we have enough declarations to make Ron Paul votes count.

The *TOP 3* electoral vote winners go to the House
If no one candidate receives 270 electors (a majority of the 538 electors), then the TOP THREE electoral vote winners are the candidates from whom the House gets to pick.
If Ron Paul can win in Montana, and get their three electoral votes, and neither McBama or O'Cain wins 270, then those three go to the House.
Which is why it is STILL POSSIBLE FOR RON PAUL TO BE ELECTED PRESIDENT IN 2008.

What happens if no presidential candidate gets 270 electoral votes?
If no candidate receives a majority of electoral votes, the House of Representatives elects the President from the 3 Presidential candidates who received the most electoral votes.
