Become a Delegate - The Next Step in the Revolution.
Step one - A sizable war chest - check.
Step Two - Get your ass to the Polls.
Step Three - We need delegates at the convention to cast votes for Dr. Paul.
Not only do we need money to fund the revolution, we need to get everyone to get off their ass from in front of the cpu and to the polls. I know we all plan to vote but how many would be able to be apart of a Ron Paul delegation?
The last piece of the puzzle is to get delegates to Minneapolis in September. Heres how you do it.
Become a Delegate or Ron Paul will Not be President
Devvy Kidd article with annotation
Before Ron Paul can get elected, he has to be nominated by delegates at the Republican National Convention which will take place in St. Paul, Minnesota. September 1-4, 2008.
We have to get elected as delegates to the convention. Electoral college delegates have to be constitutionalists because they elect the president by casting their vote.
Those who support Ron Paul must begin the process now of getting elected as a delegate to the convention or it's all over and the GOP faithful will get the shadow government's choice shoved down their throats - again. The power players behind the scenes will orchestrate the show and the people will be the losers - again. The same applies with getting nominated as an electoral college delegate because America got a good lesson in civics during the 2000 pretend election regarding the popular vote vs the electoral college system.
A word to the wise: if you present yourself as a supporter of Ron Paul, you will never get elected as a delegate. Wave the flag, shout power to the GOP, rah, rah, rah, get elected and then begin your campaign to get Ron Paul nominated. Now, some might say this type of stealth isn't right. Here's what's not right: back room deals and big money giving the American people no choice in these elections and anyone who thinks this isn't how the process has been working for the past century is in a state of denial.
Get together with your friends or people you know and plan your strategy now and work to get elected as a delegate. Time is quickly slipping by, every minute counts.
Several states including FL, SC and Iowa are planning to move their state Primaries to early December 2007 in order to prevent Ron Paul from garnering enough support financially and geographically. GOP Primaries are generally held on EVEN numbered years and it's not a mere coincidence that changes are being initiated and that Ron Paul just so happens to be running.
So how do I become a delegate?
1) First and foremost, be a member of the Republican Party and register as a Republican if you live in a closed primary state such as New York. I don't want to be part of them either but Ron Paul's sacrificing a lot too.
2) It starts in your state at the local level: Click here to see your state delegate process with instructions. If your state isn't listed, please contact your state Republican party: http://www.gop. com/states and ask how to be a delegate to the Republican National Convention at your state primaries (NOT your state party convention); They'll be more than happy to give you the specifics (provided you don't tell them you're a Ron Paul supporter). For most states, it starts at your local precinct, then county, then senatorial district, then state and finally the Rep. National Convention: It's a long journey. :)
3) The 2008 Primary Process
In general, it's a step-by-step process in becoming a delegate. For example, to become a delegate in Texas (open primary state):
Vote in the 2008 Texas State Primary Election (March 4) and you are then eligible to be a delegate to your precinct. Your first convention will take place at your precinct's election day polling place within two hours after the polls close at 7:00 p.m. Most of these "precinct conventions" are very poorly attended, and typically there are more delegate/alternate places than people to fill them, so it's usually easy to get elected as delegate at the precinct level. WE CAN ORGANIZE AND PLAN for all this in JANUARY with plenty of time. (continued)
It's critical that we become delegates or all our hard work will be in vain.
Become a delegate and we'll get to hear Dr. Ron Paul giving his Inaugural Address in 2009.

I wonder how many stealth people we have
Utah
The Utah's GOP website (utgop.org) doesn't have any information on becoming a delegate (None that I could find anyway).
I sent and email off. Hopefully I'll hear something back soon.
Check out ronpaulforums.com
Hey, Check out the above website, and click on "Delegate information". It gives a list of all the states. Under "Utah" ther should be the info you need. GOOD LUCK!!!!
Thank you!
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction :)

Critical issue. I applied yesterday for an alternate delegate (need those, too) in Maryland.
Legality of Funding Delegates?
I posted this comment under a different thread, so sorry in advance...
Are there any legal problems with starting a fund to pay for the airfare/food/hotel room of delegates? If we have lots of people willing to go, but who are short on funds, it would seem like a sensible thing to do. Any ideas here?
Keep it local.
If you know a delegate in your area that needs help with funding, just hand them some
cash.
Im wondering
if a PAC would be appropriate to handle this issue. We also could use help from the high-net-worth set such as L. Lepard and Peter Schiff.
Did it.
Today.
I know this has been up before
but i thought it was more important than those cookies (even if they are the best)
Do it

Missouri?
In Missouri it is "winner take all" Is it as important to be a delegate in Missouri? Don't they have to go by the popular vote in the GOP primary? If anyone could answer I would appreciate it.
This part gets a little confusing for me. I am no longer ashamed to admit it either because I am no longer a neo-con know-it-all.
www.ronpaullibrary.org
Where is the Rudy Library and the Mitt Library. Has anyone found them? Do we even know if they can write?
A suggestion
Each of us posting here should go through our respective states and then post dates, offices and phone numbers for this. I plan on getting on the ballot and one of my lefty college professor types is helping me with the process. If you're a student and your college has a political science department, don't hesitate to stop by their department office and ask for help. I have found that most are very helpful irrespective of party affiliation because they are simply happy that students are making an effort to become politically active.
I went through this circle-jerk yesterday. I am from Pennsyvania. In Pennsyvania, don't bother with the state GOP because they will only refer you to the county. The county will tell you that you have to become a state GOP committee member and refer you to the county bureau of elections for a nominating petition. But the county office does not deal with state GOP committee nominating petitions.
Go directly to the Pennsyvania Department of State website. You can use the link below.
http://www.dos.state.pa.u...
Materials detailing delegates and state committee members start on page 8. If the link doesn't work use the following.
http://www.dos.state.pa.us/elections/cwp/view.asp?a=1305&q=446939&electionsNav=|
Then click on the link for General Information About Running for Public Office.
The appropriate phone number for the Department of State office that deals with election is (717) 787-5280. I have found these folks to be very friendly and helpful so don't be shy to call. From what they told me, they will not be accepting requests for nominating petitions until 12/05/07 and circulation can begin on 01/22/08. And all one has to do to request a nominating petition is to call them and ask for one. As of their current document, Republican Delegates are not required to be obligated to a particular candidate, signatures are district wide and require 250 Republican signatures. The filing fee is $25.
The DOS also informed me that these rules are subject to change and they will not know the official rules until the end of the year because that is when the parties are required to submit their rules.
So if you are a Pennsylvanian remember 12/05/07 and the phone number (717) 787-5280. By all means contact your State and County GOP and feel free to amend or correct any errors that I posted because the folks I talked to didn't seem to be so sure of their answers.
As for you folks in the other 49, GET BUSY!

This is rather important.
Michigan is jacked up ....
I don't know if there are any fellow Michigan supporters here - if so, perhaps you could provide some insight.
I have been trying FOREVER, it seems to become a delegate. First, I contacted (phone and email) my state GOP, got the runaround from several people, heard back from none. Next, contacted my county GOP. Same thing. Not too long after that, on this forum somebody started a thread stating we should call Andrew from the official campaign in order to sign up, which I did. Andrew directed me to the Michigan head of the RP Campaign. I called her, got no response. Sent her an email to which I finally got a response. Her response? She didn't know how I could go about becoming a delegate and she was trying to find out - should get back to me the next day at the latest. Do you see where this is going? She never did. So, a friend of mine finally got in touch with her today and she told him that the Michigan GOP (? legislature?) passed a law/rule stating that you cannot become a delegate unless you were a delegate in the previous election. Here's the kicker - approximately 70% of the positions are open! But, since I haven't been a delegate in the past, looks like my chances of being one now are nil. This whole process has been extremely frustrating to say the least.

I'm sorry, but MI is ridiculous
Well, the January primary in Michigan is now OFF. Nice.
What I would like to see
I would like to see some "real time" stats on the delegation "movement." Something like a map, divided up into the appropriate districts, and then how many people from each will commit or have committed to being a Ron Paul delegate and in what district. For example, I have read the rules for the AR GOP and plan to file my $125 and application in Jan 2008 as per GOP rules, as a Ron Paul delegate in congressional district 4, AR. Then, plop a flag, or number, or whatever on the map. Then, show the number of how many delegates are allowed, and get as close to 100% per district as possible.
When it comes time to vote for our delegates
We need to link all Ron Paul blogs to inform people of the names of those running as delegates in our individual districts, with info on where and when to vote for them.
I am in the process for my district (CA19) now.

I will also be willing to sponcer 1 other person who has the time and wants to be a delegate but maybe not be able to afford to go to Minneapolis.. time to get off our lazy butts folks... we need to do this! becoming a deleagate is the most important part!

DELEGATES!!!
DELEGATES!!!
2008 New Jersey Delegates Fact Sheet
The fact sheet states the following:
As part of the petition filing, candidates for delegate or alternate must also pledge to vote for the winner of the February 5th presidential primary.
-Because the petition deadline follows the New Jersey presidential primary, candidates choosing to run for delegate on the June ballot will already know for whom they are obligated to vote.
How does this work? Is this how other states work?
Help!!!
Even if
Your delegates are pledged to the winner of the primary by law, it shows Pauls supporters are serious about being apart of the present and future of the GOP.
This is what we call credibility. When local GOP leaders meet Paul supporters and see what sane, responsible, law abiding citizens we are, it will take credibility from GOP frontrunners who characterize him as a whack job. This isnt just about this election this IS about taking over the GOP even if Dr. Paul doesnt get the nomination.
Also we need to sponsor delegates
Let's open a website that can show us the clear picture as to how many delegates we need and who needs monetary support to be a delegate. I think the campaign needs to be more engage in this matter, maybe hire a couple of people just to focus on this issue. There is no point that I am going house by house selling RP and there are no delegates.
Delegates....
Alright, first of all the guy running the Orlando, Fl meetup group needs to hear from all of us via email, phone, etc, and tell him to go home.
Second, this delegate election, needs to be brought to the attention of the official campaign, and figured out by them, and let them choose the exact people, course of action, etc. They need to utilize their state coordinators for this issue. We need the professionals on this issue.

He is the same guy that has been all over the news here because he has been posting signs all over the place in violation of code, one day a guy in the group was being told by other members to call the police because Code enforcment had taken his sign, that was in violation of code.So i responded with the link to the acutual code for the county that clearly ssid where you could put the signs ,and suggested that we obey code.Because i was so sick of seeing this guy on TV posting signs up and always fighting with the authorites,to the point that he may be facing jail time. All the while making us look like law breakers.
He called me and told I would be banned from the group If i ever again supported code because code was stomping on his 1st amd. rights
I am banned from the group now because i stood my ground and say we must obey code,at least at the point that we are on TV looking like criminals in the name of Paul.
Signs
There is a right place to post signs. Places where it is 'against the code' aren't the right places to post signs. It just reflects bad on the campaign to post signs in unwanted locations. Post signs in your yard & the yards of other supporters if you have extra signs. I'm registered to vote & 'good to go' for the Missouri primary (Feb 5th). Make sure you're registered to vote where you live to increase our chances for a win! That's more important than sticking signs everywhere...
I want to be a delegate. If
I want to be a delegate. If we organize well we can pull this off.

Here's an excellent piece on winning the Rep. nomination for RP:
Mirroring the Republican Party
&
Winning the Nomination for Ron Paul
(a campaign strategy overview by Sandra Crosnoe – posted October 16, 2007)
A summary sheet of action items only is provided at the end of this article.
As the briefest of backgrounds, I have been a Republican activist for over 30 years and have known Ron Paul since his first congressional race. I serve on the board for Associated Conservatives of America (originally only in Texas and best known there). Most of what I am going to share with you is based on Texas experiences over many years and Oklahoma experience since 2005. That is important because the details may be different for your state, but the general idea is applicable nationwide.
Soon we will all go to the polls and vote in the Presidential Primary and the first item of note is that in some states you must be registered with the Republican Party to vote in the Republican Party. Action Item #1 is to find out if you are in an open state or a closed state and take appropriate action (i.e. if are in a closed state – register Republican to be able to vote for Ron Paul immediately!).
Winning at the polls is important, because it will in many states help determine the delegate count for your candidate for the nomination process. But it is not everything and in a race with as many candidates as we have the odds of a brokered convention are extremely high. That means that the delegates who may/may not be bound to the vote in their state on the first round of voting at the National Convention (depending on the rules of the State parties) will ultimately be able to vote their conscience and determine the party nominee.
Obviously the best outcome is a landslide at the polls and we sweep all delegates and take the nomination at the first round at the convention. But even if we could assure that and we cannot, we still should do the things I am about to tell you to build a firm foundation for getting the work done through a Ron Paul administration!
So the Republican party convention process becomes paramount for all that we are about to do and you simply must take some steps immediately to take this ground and hold this ground and elect people of principle at all levels of our government. I hope that we can together return the Republican Party to the wisdom of our founding fathers and constitutional principles throughout the land.
Here is the plan in a nutshell. Action Item #2 is to embed ourselves in the Republican Party, those who have not already done so long ago. We become involved in leadership and meetings and create a Ron Paul presence there. It really isn’t that hard. Find out who the leaders are in your county and ask if you can help. One way to do that is to see if your state party has a website and lists the county leaders there. If not call them and ask them who your leaders like county chair, precinct chair and your committeemen and committeewomen are. Ask by phone or email how best to get in touch with them and let them know you want to be more involved. Keep trying until you get an answer.
Action item #3 is to volunteer to be a precinct chair* in your area if there is not one already and make friends with the one who is if there is one. Attend the meetings and the clubs and help in any way possible. Make sure they all get flyers and information about Ron Paul at the same time. Register people to vote and make calls and mention your efforts for Ron Paul at the first opportunity.
If for some reason, your county is closed to the idea of your assistance and your efforts for Ron Paul then that is where you move into the ‘Mirroring the Republican Party’ phase. Action Item #3A is to simply organize the area for Ron Paul as a county leader and finding precinct captains and block walkers as fast as possible! When the numbers are great enough in your area, the existing Republican leadership will embrace you and say they were friends all along in most cases!
The delegate selection process will start occurring near the presidential primary vote in 2008 at various times in various states. It will start with precinct meetings, and then county meetings, and on up to state meetings. At each level, we must have enough Ron Paul people present to control the vote and determine who is elected to represent us. In some cases, there will be committees that recommend and we must impact that committee process according to the rules of our states. Action Item #4 is to plan now to attend your Republican Party Convention process at the precinct level on up to the state and national level to send as many Ron Paul delegates as possible to the National Convention. **
It is both a numbers game and a perception effort. If you knew how few Republicans are currently attending meetings of any kind, then you would think this will be easy. However, I must warn you, it will not be easy, but it is doable if you can produce more people than the other candidates at every level across the nation. The good news is that if you can do it for Ron Paul, you can do it for local sheriff. So how many of you would consider filing for office in your area – especially if there is an open seat or an opportunity to replace someone supporting illegal immigration in a county office? Action Item #5 is to recruit candidates to file for local office in your area who support the constitution and our national sovereignty. Do not attempt this until you have achieved a base of support in your area! (Filing deadlines are frequently in early January).
*A precinct chair takes care of a geographical area representing approx 3000 voters for the party. That can include finding block walkers, hosting coffees, and serving as point of information from the party to the people in that area. It can be as much or as little as the person wants. In some states it is an elected position (on the ballot). [In Oklahoma, for example, it is typically handled at the precinct meetings if anyone shows up and/or appointed by the county chairs if it is done at all. The executive committee for the state is comprised of county chairs and state committee men and women for each county meeting approx quarterly in OKC.]
**more details later on the convention process and rules and dates
Summary of Action Items:
Action Item #1 is to find out if you are in an open state or a closed state and take appropriate action (I e if are in a closed state – register Republican to be able to vote for Ron Paul immediately!).
Action Item #2 is to embed ourselves in the Republican Party, those who have not already done so long ago.

Folks, this is CRITICAL!!!
If you're like me, this whole thing is "new" to you, but we just had staffers meet with the various Dallas/Ft. Worth Meet-Up leadership last Thursday.
I cannot stress how important this is for us to do! I flew up this weekend to the Philly rally and from the stage this was emphasized again. This isn't "crying wolf" this is how these campaigns operate. Popular vote sends a message as to "who" we would like to see elected, but it is the delegates that make the choice of "who" they perceive the best delegate to be that will beat the other guy (or gal, in this case). Meaning, YOU NEED TO BE A DELEGATE!
Contact campaign HQ or your Meet Up leader, but learn the process! For us here in Texas, this starts by showing up at your school/church or wherever voting is done when the polls close and those first round of delegates are picked. But some states you have to be ON THE BALLOT to be a delegate, so this varies from state-to-state. LEARN AND LEAD!
I never thought I'd be doing this or writing these words, but we can no longer sit on our "blessed ASSurance" here. We've got to get it in gear and play this game as hard as the rest of 'em!
Doesnt stop with being a delegate
Everyone needs to become active in your local wing of the gop. go to the link in the original post to find out who the party leaders are in your area. attend the meetings, get to know these people, take them out to dinner or lunch. Have cocktail parties at your house to raise money for the party locally. We can inudate, infiltrate and overtake the GOP from the inside with a little effort.
Act now!
Two of us are calling the Missouri GOP tomorrow to find out how to become delegates. I don't care what we have to do, we have to do it and so does everyone else. Until recently, I thought that if Ron Paul won the majority of votes that he would be the candidate. Now I find out that the assumption may not be true and we are NOT going to take any chances. Now I am finding out the being a delegate is probably the most important way to insure that Ron Paul wins. It means hope for all of us and such a small investment. Get this link on the front page and let's get it done!
This thread needs to be here permanently
until we have our delegates. What is the campaign doing about this? Don't they have some close friends in every state? The campaign should be financing these people if they exist.
gop not good
on my iowa county gop web site they have a links page. most candidates were listed but not ron paul. they still had tommy thompson and sam brownback listed.
i eamiled them, didnt mention ron paul, just said they had two people listed that werent even running.

Get with the people that are
running the Ron Paul campaign for your state. They sent out an email to all the meet-up groups here in Alabama. I am in poor health and unable to go, but I donated to sponsor a delegate. I am sure we have other young people that could go, but lack the funds. If you can't go yourself, you can always help someone else to go with financial contributions.

I see problems with leaving this to the meet up groups.I have seen to many meet up Organizers using the groups as more of a way to make names for them selves rather worry about Getting Paul into Office .the organizer of one of the biggest meetup is in orlando ,he has refused the support of a house rep,a small town mayor and a few unions because "it could interfer with my chances of becoming a mayor one day".
We gotta do this on our own ,at least in florida, not o mention the same group frowns highly on delegate talk,IMO they do because the orgainizer has threatned to ban people if they werent on his wagon ,and that wagon is to get him self into office, and he has followed through with his threats more than once
