Mock the Vote
Opednews.com published an article of mine that you guys might enjoy:
Here's how it starts:
Jesse Ventura, when he's not talking about 9-11, makes a lot of sense.
Describing the two party system to Larry King, he said: "[W]hat you have today is like walking into the grocery store and you go to the soft drink department, and there is only Pepsi and Coke. Those are the two you get to choose from. There is no Mountain Dew, no Root Beer, no Orange. They're both Colas; one is slightly sweeter than the other, depending on which side of the aisle you are on."
In an interview with Newsmax, he described politicians in the two party system as pro wrestlers. "In pro wrestling, out in front of the people, we make it look like we all hate each other and want to beat the crap out of each other, and that's how we get your money, [and get you to] come down and buy tickets. They're the same thing. Out in front of the public and the cameras, they hate each other, are going to beat the crap out of each other, but behind the scenes they're all going to dinner, cutting deals. And [they're] doing what we did, too--laughing all the way to the bank. And that to me is what you have today, in today's political world, with these two parties."
Jesse's right. Our political system is a farce. This year, we have running for president a warmonger who's a reluctant socialist versus a socialist who's a reluctant warmonger. We have two parties that claim they're different, but when the Establishment, the Complex, our shadowy overlords, whatever you want to call them, really want something, they get it. When the Establishment wanted the Bailout in the face of almost universal grassroots opposition, they got it. When the Complex wanted immunity to the telecoms who knowingly spied on Americans, they got it. When our shadowy overlords wanted stormtroopers to brutally stifle protesters during the party conventions, they got it.
But even if voters had a real choice, and even if the politicians followed the majority will on issues that matter, the system would still, most likely, be a farce. As Augustine observed: without justice, a government is nothing but a band of thieves. Augustine was writing about kingdoms, but his insight applies to democracy as well. Without justice, the ability of the subjects of a government to vote on the laws and rulers that govern them doesn't make a government any more legitimate than an unjust monarchy. And the founders of this country did not believe democracies were likely to be just.

Thanks
Thanks aVoiceof Reason for putting my article up on Digg and thanks everybody for the diggs and bumps and especially for the kind comments. I've been going to Daily Paul every day for quite a while now. I've gotten a real kick out of my article being the subject of comments here.
I already dugg
it but here's a bump.
Jesse Ventura for President 2008
"The strongest message can be sent by rejecting the two-party system, which in reality is a one-party system with no possible chance for the changes to occur which are necessary to solve our economic and foreign policy problems." -- Ron Paul, Sept. 10, 2008
Write in "Vince McMahon"
The pro-wrestling analogy perfectly describes how most Ron Paul and most third party's supporters feel about the fakeness of our system.
Vince McMahon is probably the greatest architect in the pro-wrestling biz...creating an endless parade of scripted legends and controversies.
All of us writing in his name is probably the best 'mock the vote' message to the establishment. It says "WE KNOW THAT THE PARTIES ARE FAKE, THE ELECTIONS ARE FAKE, WE DON'T BELIEVE YOUR 9/11 CRAP, IT'S ALL FAKE...FUCK YOU!"
Voting for Ron Paul was going to be that message, but (1) he doesn't want us too and (2) it doesn't drive home the "we know this election is fake" message like a "Vince McMahon" write in would.
So what do you say? Let's all write in Vince McMahon.
I stopped reading after
I stopped reading after "Jesse Ventura, when he's not talking about 9-11, makes a lot of sense."
If you fully buy the official story of 9/11 and can review the facts of that day without any questions.. then you have your head up your ass.
It sounds like you are the head-up-ass guru
Ventura doubts 9/11...
Coke and Pepsi analogies
-One is slightly more appealing (depending on your personal tastes)
-They can be tempting, but any knowledgeable person knows that they're terrible for your long term health
-They can both attribute their popularity to expensive ad campaigns
-They are both owned by multinational corporations

Ron Paul's Convention Speech
Jesse makes a lot of sense
when he's not talking about 9/11? The author's article was pretty good except for the opening line.
Jesse has posed some of the most prudent questions about 9/11, one of the most important being "why hasn't the FBI charged anyone with the crime?" He just wants people to think about it with their own rational minds and not repeat the sound bites from the US govt and the MSM.
The author of this article does not possess the courage to question 9/11, and thererfore I don't care to read his pandering crap. He subscribes to the methods of the slave catchers, give the natives a kool-aid cocktail of truth and lies. It's been going on for thousands of years and now is the time to drive a stake through its heart.
I find myself agreeing with
I find myself agreeing with a lot of things Jesse says, but one thing I can't stand about him that totally turns me off is when he starts talking about illegal immigration, and making it sound like anyone who's opposed to it must hate or fear "brown people". Thats really offensive and and insult to my intelligence. For that reason alone, I could never vote for him or support him, no matter how much I might agree with him on other issues. Any candidate who doesn't care about secure borders and stopping illegal immigration will never get my vote, its that simple. I agree with Ron Paul on just about everything, and he's written about and spoken about wanting to secure the borders and stopping illegal immigration(and he has a good voting record to back up his claims, not like McCain and Obama who talk about wanting to stop illegal immigration, but their past voting records on illegal immigration are a joke and show they would not be serious about stopping illegal immigration), so Ron Paul has my full support.
And Jesse really lost a lot of credibility when he goes around talking about Lou Dobbs fearing or hating brown people because he speaks out against illegal immigration on his show, when Lou Dobbs is married to a brown person and has brown people living with him in his home. Maybe Jesse should get a life, and he should have done his homework.
Agreed
My opposition to illegal immigration has nothing to do with (most) illegal immigrants being brown skiinned. (I have friends that are brown skinned, so what?) It has to do with:
1. Increasing economic inequality in our country due to first all the jobs that could be exported being exported, and then the jobs that can't be exported being given to illegal immigrants.
2. Balkanization of our country. More and more things are becoming bilingual. For the first time, we had a presidential debate in Spanish.
Being able to speak Spanish is a requirement for public employment in an increasing number of (once) American towns and cities.
3. Overpopulation. We have enough people in our country already. I know some of Paul's supporters are "pave the planet" libertarians but I'm not one of them.
4. If you're going to import an extra 20 million people, wouldn't you at least want them to be exceptionally talented and educated, the more likely to be a net boon to our economy and our civilization? Illegal immigrants are generally poorly educated, have limited skills, and create a major burden for our schools and hospitals. And too many of their kids wind up in gangs.
Very nice read. The "coke
Very nice read. The "coke pepsi " analysis was great.
Dave, Loved your article
I ran across some of your other articles on PAS last year and found them very insightful. The injustice of the family court system is really what opened my eyes to the tyranny that I had never noticed before. I was shocked at how easy it was for some no-nothing to strip away a citizen's right to parent, or even see, his own children, and then garnish thousands of dollars from his paycheck. It's like someone stealing your car and then charging you for gas and maintenance. It eventually allowed me to stumble upon the freedom message of the RP Revolution. Anyway, you should consider running for office in NJ.
Don't ever question 911
Why don't you think questioning 911 makes sense? The beach is getting crowded with so many ostriches hiding their heads. When they’re pointing an M-16 at you, what excuse will you make up then? It won’t be long to find out as the Army has landed in N FL.
I’m also going to ignore what Powell and Biden said about the next “event” ‘cause I’m proud to be an Amerikan, where at least I know I’m………..can’t remember the words.
Great line - Great Piece
"This year, we have running for president a warmonger who's a reluctant socialist versus a socialist who's a reluctant warmonger."
That really was a great line!--so true
Libera me, let the truth break, what my fears make--Leslie Phillips

affirmation: President Paul 2008
nicely pulled together..
Remember when we all signed Kucinich's petition to impeach Bush? Dems and Republicans alike refused to go forward with it. My congressman, a Democrat, emailed me and said that, "it would be too distracting."
Loved the article. Great job!
