Ron Paul pays my electricity bill!

check out my wind generator i made out of a bicycle wheel, a galvanized trash can and a bunch of ron paul yard signs i had left over. i havent hooked up my generator to it yet so i dont know what its gonna put out yet. its still needs a few bugs worked out to make it more efficient but so far i think its looking pretty good.

Did you attach the bicycle tire to the trash can after cutting out the bottom liner of the can?
no it was from
an old used ten speed bike. i cut the spokes off the back tire and used the middle part of the wheel with the gears and screwed it into the bottom of the trashcan so i can use the chain to turn my generator. the trashcan is upside down so the gears are on top, and attached to the flange on the ceiling for support. the pipe on the bottom goes through the cover on the bottom and connects to the other side of the bike tire from the inside, making it sturdier. the very bottom of the pipe is attached to the floor flange on the floor to keep it steady.

pretty sweet. You have to keep us posted on what kinda of output you end up getting from this please. I figure about 75 of these puppies and you could make some $$ off this.

are very strong and hard to bend when trying to fold against the grain. they are very light wieght and of course, Ron Paul is on them, which is a bonus in itself. so far its cost is

but the real cost is in the batteries about 60 bucks each for deep cycle at walmart. i'll start with 2 and work my way up if it works out well. i will also need a charge controller and an AC power inverter so after all is said and done it should cost about 275 to 300 bucks total for everything.

I've still got 3 RP signs up in my yard right now. They will stay at least until I write his name in on Nov. 4, and they just might stay until 2012.

Along that same line,
I know a fellow that used them for sheathing when framing the house....The siding went over the coroplast signs.
There's always at least 1 other use for most things....other than filling up a landfill.

i'm gonna hook up a dc motor from a treadmill to use as a generator later on this week. i hope it will have enough umph to turn it.the motor turns pretty easy by hand so i think i should be alright. i'm anxious to see how much power it can put out. i need to make it a little sturdier to make it push better. but its fun to make stuff like this and i get to annoy my neighbor (Obama supporter) lol.
Once it is hooked to the generator
connect it to a bullhorn, and blast Ron Paul speeches in the direction of your neighbor, 24/7. :-)
