Syria sends letter to UN, calling for assuming responsibility to
DAMASCUS, (SANA)-Syrian Arab Republic on Tuesday sent a letter to the UN Secretary General and Head of Security Council on the act of aggression carried out by the US inside Syrian lands on the 26th of October that claimed the lives of 8 innocent citizens.
The letter stated that on 26th October, at 16.45, four US helicopters coming from Iraq violated the Syrian airspaces in al-Boukamal area ( al-Sukariah Farm) targeting a civilian building and firing at workers inside the building, leading to the killing of 8 citizens.
The martyred citizens were identified as Daoud Mohammad al-Abdullah and his 4 sons, Ahmad Khalefa, Ali Abbas and his wife in addition to wounding another citizen. Later, the US helicopters returned back to Iraq.
Syria condemns this act of aggression perpetrated by the US occupation forces.
This act of aggression represents a dangerous violation of the Syrian sovereignty and the UN principles and conventions.
Syria, at the same time, calls on the Iraqi government to investigate into the backgrounds and reasons of this aggression and to assume its responsibilities to prevent using its lands as a launch-pad in violation of the Arab League convention.
"In this regard, we refer that this unjustified act of aggression comes at a time when the Iraqi and US sides recognize Syria's efforts exerted to preserve Iraq security and prevent any illegal infiltrations into its territories," the letter added.
It said that this act of aggression perpetrated by the US forces against Syrian civilians indicates to the US administration's determination to go on in its policies that brought to the region nothing but killing and destruction.
The letter concluded by saying that the Syrian Government expects from the Security Council and UN member countries to assume responsibilities to prevent reoccurrence of such dangerous violation and hold the aggressor responsibility for killing Syrian innocent citizens to keep security and stability in the Middle East.

When the heck...
did George Bush get the right to attack Syria? This 3 year old behavior should be stopped and he should be impeached asap before he has any more chances to create worldwide hatred of our country.
What should get done
never gets done. He should have been removed from office when voter fraud was discovered to be the reason he was in office to start with. But nothing was done and now look where we are.

Russia and Syria have been building ...
"very warm" relations for some time now. (Putin's words)
This summer they released statements that they are cooperating on military security and "strategic relations". I expect Russia to have an opinion about this one.
Talk about waving a red flag in front of their faces. Does the US government want conflict with Russia?
EDIT (sorry RonAdolf missed your post below or I would have replied to you)

This must end!
This must end. We cannot continue to accept killing children as collateral damage. How many civilians have we killed now in Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, and Pakistan alone? Is this somehow OK because they're "over there" and American mothers don't have to be the ones hysterically crying in the streets? And that pathetic MN rep who had some graffiti spraypainted on his house calls THAT a terrorist act? Nobody is shooting up his house with a helicopter gunship or dropping bombs in his neighborhood.
We lost our moral authority a long time ago. Now we've lost all decency as well.

The syrians are calling it what it is.. a blatant War Crime
Syria protested vehemently on Monday over what it said was a US attack on a border village that left eight civilians dead, with the official press branding it a "war crime."
"The American forces from Iraq committed cold-blooded murder," the government newspaper Tishrin wrote. "They committed a war crime in killing eight Syrian civilians in a quiet village."
Official media reported that American helicopter-borne troops from Iraq launched an assault on a building site Sunday in the village of Al-Sukkiraya, which lies just eight kilometres (five miles) from the border.
The US military in Iraq said in a statement it does not have "any information" on the the incident, which if confirmed would be the first of its kind into Syrian territory.
Damascus has summoned the official US and Iraqi representatives in protest, the official SANA news agency said, describing the dead as a father and his four children, a couple and another man.
Syrian state television broadcast pictures of the scene, showing a building site with bloodstains on the ground, and the bodies of victims lying in the morgue.
"Four American helicopters violated Syrian airspace around 1645 (1445 GMT) on Sunday. American soldiers attacked a civilian building under construction and fired at workmen inside, causing eight deaths," official media said.

If you are fighting a war, you can't just throw your hands up and say "Oh, enemy bases outside some lines on a map are off limits."
I'm against this war, but this is just part of this war...not anything ground-breaking.
framed-up, engineered "war"
A.) Iraq is an occupation, not a "war".
B.) I guess that national borders and national sovereignty and independence means as little to you as it does to the New World Order.
I guess when foreign troops arrive on American soil you won't have much problem with that either?

You misunderstand me
I am against this occupation as much as you are.
BTW: The USA doesn't have to be the good guys for it to be a war. When one country tries to take over another country (especially militarily), that's war. But whatever...semantics!
My point is that people are making this story sound like a new chapter of the war. It isn't.
The USA aren't attacking Syria...as in, the USA is trying to take over Syria. This is still part of the occupation of Iraq.
The US military have been crossing borders left and right for years. Is that okay? Of course not, but I don't see this as a substantial escalation of the war.
More likely the USA is closing up loose ends (such as 'enemy' bases just outside Iraq borders).
Well Syria
is taking it as an attack on them and they are the one's being attacked so they should know.
It is a war crime...obviously...but to me it is just the latest

You're right.
You're right.
Obviously we shouldn't be attacking syria,
but is there some reason why four children were playing around a building under construction?
Good point, yonemoto!
In fact it can be very dangerous for kids to play at construction sites. So the more you scare them off from being there, the less kids get hurt. Having attack helicopters firing their weapons from north, east, south and west simultaneously does that job very well. It saves the lives of innocent children!
I used to play on construction sites all the time
It's sad that they died of course...but to answer your question, as a kid, I used to have loads of fun at construction sites.

Syria, Russia sign $71 million gas deal
(AP:DAMASCUS, Syria) Syria and Russia have signed a gas deal worth $71 million to transport natural gas from the northern Syrian city of Aleppo to the Turkish border.
The report Tuesday on SANA says the agreement between Syrian Gas Company and Russian company StroyTrans Gaz provides for the construction of a 38-mile long pipeline from Aleppo to the border in 18 months.
In 2007, the Russian company signed a $218 million contract to build three natural gas plants in the central area of Homs capable of producing more than 3 million cubic meters of gas per day.
Syria's oil production has declined in recent years and Damascus is trying to compensate by relying more heavily on natural gas.

"Rogue" seems to be the fit. When Dr. Paul voted to get al-Queda after 9-11, how did that action read? Was it like the Jefferson "pirate" hunt to the ends of the earth measure that RP spoke of? Was it restricted to Afganistan? Does anybody know this?
