Hello All. I am sure many of you know me. Just in case you don't, I currently own and operate Restore The Republic Radio. But more important to this discussion, you may remember the Revolution March last July 12th. I am the co-founder of Revolution Management Foundation which organized the march. As we were planning the march last summer, we thought it was important to make SURE the event was NON-PARTISAN. We looked for ways to reach across "party lines". Since we believe the entire left/right debate is a sham that continues to be pushed my the main stream media, the organizers and I all agreed that a very important part of what we need to do with this event, is to show that when it comes to the REALLY IMPORTANT ISSUES that face us, we have more in common than we may sometimes realize.
To this end, we were very excited to invite, and ultimately confirm Naomi Wolf to speak at the march. She made a powerful and informative speech. I hope you all take the time to see it (Part 1 - Part 2). Since July, we have kept in touch with Naomi. She has expressed her interest in continuing to explore some of the similarities in the information that "The Revolution" wants to share with the world, and the information contained in her two most recent books (Give Me Liberty and The End of America). I share that interest.
The point of this post is to allow us to continue to cautiously feel out the differences in our opinions while we attempt to find what we have in common. Possibly the most striking of these apparent differences is that Naomi has come forward and publicly stated her support for Barack Obama for president. This has caused quite an uproar within "The Revolution". She thought that it would be a good idea to try to diplomatically address her reasoning for this decision so that we can continue to move forward and find what we have IN COMMON!
After long discussion with Naomi, and much thought, my personal opinion is that there is really no major debate we should have with her decision. It is only one small difference in the likely application of her presidential vote. And the best place to put your presidential vote this November is territory that is CLEARLY open for reasonable debate. There is already a TON of that going on amongst our community.
Essentially, we all believe that we need to end the duopoly that the Republicans and Democrats hold over us, and many of us believe that they are really the same party, and that they share an agenda of higher powers. Many of us also believe that all the major players in world government tend to share that same agenda. But I think we all have to acknowledge that there are many factions within this group of "world governors". The many different factions have many different ideas on HOW exactly to go about enslaving the people of the world. If we understand and agree on THAT, then we MUST agree that it is reasonable for us to have different ideas on exactly how to STOP them!
For instance, Naomi is VERY convinced that the particular agenda of Bush, Cheney, and their Neo-con friends, has proceeded much further down the road than some other agendas. She believes that we are on the precipice of world tyranny under the rule of this PARTICULAR faction, and that the best thing we can do with our vote is to ENSURE that this faction loses some of the power that have achieved in recent years.
While I am not quite as scared as she is, for a few really good reasons, I respect her opinion greatly and I think it is worth reading in more detail in her own words below. If it turns out that she is right, it would be a shame to say that we allowed her to stand alone, and be isolated and rejected by our Revolution. She would have been the only one who was SCARED ENOUGH! I, FOR ONE, STAND WITH HER. Even though I will vote differently in November.
Oh, one other note: Ron Paul seemed proud to share the fact that he had read her book when I interviewed him in July. Listen here- it's about 10 minutes in.

I have been following the discussion on this site in response to my open letter to conservatives triggered by the deployment of the First Brigade. My letter was a call to a transpartisan movement of patriots devoted to restoring the Republic and the Constitution.
Some readers pose questions about my positions in my advocacy for liberty that I do feel it is useful for me to answer directly. I believe very strongly that restoring the Republic is an issue that goes beyond partisanship and one that can only be achieved by patriots working together for the good of the nation. I have also always made it a policy to be as accountable to readers and critics as I can possibly be, so here goes: I will summarize some of the questions that tend to come up from people who don't know me well that need answering so we can move ahead into constructive action.

Anyone who comes to my events and reads my work knows that I honor the leadership of the Ron Paul community consistently. While I am not a Ron Paul voter, I always shine a light on the work of your community because I believe it is exemplary of the kind of citizen action and devotion to country that I call for in a time of crisis such as this one (actually it would be ideal always for citizens across party lines to show this kind of personal commitment ad creativity in problem-solving.)
I spoke at the Ron Paul rally in Washington; I included Ron Paul community leaders' guidance in my new book Give me Liberty; I always acknowledge the many Ron Paul supporters who are appearing at my events that are seeking to build a trans-partisan army of patriots; and when I co-founded the American Freedom Campaign and the My America Project, we sought and secured partnership with various Ron Paul allies in the bigger fight. Indeed Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich jointly introduced legislation to restore liberty that the AFC and the American Freedom Agenda both helped develop and as I have been introducing the film I have been calling on people to sign petitions to get Paul's and Kucinich's legislation passed.

I have to say this turn of internet speculation is extraordinarily distressing to me as a patriot since it has been 'seeded' relentlessly on various sites in such a way as to make people question whether they should trust me in taking action. Who knows the source of such things.
Well, here is the truth. I was indeed a Rhodes scholar. I studied at New College, Oxford for three years. The Rhodes Scholarship was indeed started by Cecil Rhodes to prop up British colonialism but during my entire time there and subsequently the scholarship functioned simply as funding for graduate school. I am not a member of the Council on Foreign Relations nor have ever been invited to be one. I did work informally on the 1996 Clinton/Gore campaign talking about womens issues and formally on the 2000 campaign.
Contrary to RNC disinformation, I was working not on fashion advice but on womens and family issues such as minimum wage, flextime and social security. I did publicly come out in support of Barack Obama. Here is why: a McCain presidency will, I believe consolidate a police state. Obama in my view will simply stabilize things at this (given, unacceptable) level long enough to let us drive a trans-partisan citizens' movement to restore liberty and the rule of law, without which we will be just as badly off under Democrats as under Republicans.
I have said many times in public and in print that I am as afraid of a Democratic president with these powers as a Republican one; that Obama will not and cannot restore our rights without a grassroots movement forcing him to do so; that vested interests will compel either side to shred the Constitution; and that either party will be tempted to abuse power. I have indeed been educated by the Ron Paul community and others in the failings of both parties and in the corruption of being restricted to a two-party system. I have also championed Ron Paul's legislation to restore checks and balances in print.
I do hope we can move past the idea that we have to vote in lockstep or reach identical policy conclusions in order to listen to one another and learn from each other constructively, which is what I feel our Founders would wish us to do.
Finally, I would like to say that my meeting many Ron Paul supporters has been genuinely transformative for me -- I can't imagine a more dedicated and courageous group of Americans. So if any of you online still have doubts about my motivations or allegiances please come meet me in person -- my schedule is posted at www.myamericaproject.org -- and ask me whatever you want. I am accountable to you and I will answer whatever you wish to ask me. I am also delighted to answer your questions or be educated by you online if a Ron Paul forum would like to facilitate that. I also of course need your help in creating an army of patriots whose loyalty to nation transcends party affiliations and I am asking to build that relationship. My allegiance is to the Constitution and I know we have that in common.

Dr. Paul would not act this way.
What was the purpose of her coming here? It was to ask us to join her "call to a transpartisan movement of patriots devoted to restoring the Republic and the Constitution." That is a goal we share, and it's the biggest goal we need to concentrate on.
She's not asking us to support Obama. She is merely explaining why she is voting for him. That's called personal responsibility, and she feels like she owes us an explanation. That's very brave of her considering the abuse she has received in this thread. Many of you have conducted yourselves in ways unbecoming of the example Dr. Paul has set for us.
She answered honestly about her Rhodes Scholarship, and stated that at the end it was just a way to pay for college. As long as she doesn't use it to open any more doors or accept any more carrots based on that, and leaves those people behind, then I see no problem with it. I do recall that Rear Admiral Chester Ward was a CFR member for 15 years, and he quit, and became their biggest critic. Naomi Wolf has not ever has been a CFR member, but why can't she be allowed to do the same regarding her scholarship? BTW, Rhodes Scholarship does not mean you are automatically a member of the Rhodes Society. The Rhodes Society picks their members from those who had scholarships, but not all make it, and not all want it.
This is a person who has woken up a lot of people, but is still doing some waking up of her own, as she has admitted on several occasions. She is going through a journey atm. Teach her about the false left right paradigm, instead of slamming her for not yet fully understanding it. She knows about it, but still feels compelled to fall into the lesser of 2 evils trap. We lost a lot of Paulites to this trap once he dropped out. She is in the process of coming around. Anyone who listened to her recent appearance on Alex Jones would know that she still has lots of questions. She asked Alex as many questions as he asked her!
Lastly, I would say she is scarred. Scarred of America going into fascism. Alex explained that Obama has his own Nazi youth singing praises to him, and her reaction was "freaked out by that". She's done a lot to wake people up, and is a target because of it. She get's ridiculed on MSM, and wound up on the terrorist watch list because of it as well. No one here has done more than she has to wake people up. Have you written books? Have you given speeches, or gone on tours speaking at campuses across the country?
In closing, many of the reactions to her contained in this thread are very unprofessional and counter-productive to the goals of liberty and restoring our Constitutional Republic. Many of you lack the understanding that we can't do this by ourselves. C4L can't do it alone. Find allies, and look for areas where we agree, as Dr. Paul did recently with the Constitution, Libertarian, Independent, and Green Parties. Stop this Spanish Inquisition / Crusades garbage of "convert or die". No wonder we lost the primary. Would Dr. Paul act like this? No, he would not.

First of all, SHE didn't come here.
This is just a general "message" that was posted by someone else. If she really wanted a dialog, she could easily establish an account and post (even under an assumed name, perhaps "Naomi'sDog" or whatever).
Second, I think from the interview with LewRockwell, she obviously hasn't even bothered to "lurk" on any of the RP forums (nor to read RP's books, etc) -- otherwise she would have already HAD a better understanding of many of the things she is asking as questions of Lew.
I don't view all of the postings here as "convert or die" -- but rather that she should get off her butt and do some of her own "digging" and learning. While in her videos and talks she seem to emphasize that OTHERS need to do so, she herself seems to be rather (willfully?) ignorant of a number of critical areas; if she were a child, or someone working in an "unskilled" job I might be willing to be more generous; but she is purportedly a journalist, author, and scholar, and therefore deserves to have her feet held to the fire a bit more. (I mean jeepers, many of the thing she is just NOW beginning to question, I had researched and understood by the time I was 16 or 18 ...and that was decades BEFORE anything even remotely like the internet was available).
And if she has studied so little, but still wants to be held up as an "expert" on such things, then she should fully EXPECT to be harangued by people from the general public who have done more research than herself. That's what happens when you stick yourself up on a pedestal.
IMO, she should have been a better American, and learned all of this ages ago.
So in the end, I *still* say that her primary motive is to a) plug her book; and b) get people to join "her" movement.

I don't care one way or another what Naomi Wolfe does. It's great if she supports the cause. Good for her. I would have more enthusiasm if she wasn't saying to people Hey look. Your freedoms are being taken away. The world is coming to and end. Stand up and fight. Oh and by the way, I don't know about you but I'm voting for Barack Obama. You know. The lesser of two evils. He'll probably stop this from happening.
I find Obama as scary as McCain if not more. The fact is, the democratic congress has most recently added to the destruction of liberty. I shudder to think of what life will be like when they control both the executive and legislative branch, with no real opposition, that is, outside of the few citizens who remain interested in politics (that includes me). But I guess that assumes there is any real opposition right now. I really don't know.
I'm just saying, I understand the skepticism, but it really is irrelevant. If she proves useful, great. If not, well, she's just one more on the list of traitors. There are many. Too many for me to get all bent out of shape about one.

Who she supports doesn't matter, as long as she wants to restore constitutional rule. We can't be free unless we can disagree. Let's fight together to make sure we will always have that right, that freedom. THEN we can quibble about the little things.

You state your opinion as if it is fact. Prove she is using us. Being a day late and a dime short doesn't exclude people from coming around and making the right decisions.
The only fact you have in your statement is that she is an Obama supporter. I suspect as she gets more involved with this movement she will see the error in that.

The 'Litmus' test for Naomi Wolf will be...
The 'Litmus' test will be based upon how Naomi Wolf will respond if Obama gets in and doesn't help restore PROPER executive power and our liberties.
THEN we can see how Naomi Wolf responds when it is evident the 'left's' agenda is the same as the 'Neo-Conservatives' agenda. If she doesn't speak out 'THEN', that will speak volumes, but if she DOES, then we know she is sincere. (I think she is sincere, but for others who don't think so.)

Obama is just saying things now pretending to go along with the show, and then when he gets in he will do an about face and become pro-Constitutional? Sorry, I haven't heard that angle yet.
