Goal: To destroy the GOP and rebuild it in Ron Paul's Image.
Ron Paul may not know it yet, but he is in prime position to be the benefactor of the demise of the current Republican Party machine.
If the GOP is swept out of office in 2008, and John McCain goes down in flames after running a bumbling, erratic campaign (with a neophyte as his VP choice), this will be a trans formative event.
The NeoCon message will have been destroyed.
The Corporate Welfare message will have been destroyed.
The "Oil Monopolies are our rulers" message will have been destroyed.
With the demise of the GOP, there will necessarily have to be a reexamination of just what the GOP Party stands for and what it represents going forward. They will need a new message and a new messenger in order to climb back out of the wilderness and rebuild themselves, and get back into a position of power.
Ron Paul is the man, of course, who represented the alternative viewpoint and proved that this new constitutional agenda had wide popular appeal, as well as fundraising potential. It is clear that Ron Paul would be the natural man to turn to, to lead the Republican Party and give it a new competitve political identity and new powerful message.
Ron Paul is in good health and could re-run for President again in 2012. But this time, all eyes would be looking toward him as the true leader of the party, and not just some quixotic outcast of the Party. The U.S News Media would have already digested the facts that he was correct about the economic meltdown, correct about the Wars, correct about the Federal Reserve, and correct about Civil Liberties.
What was once a minority viewpoint in established circles, will now be the mainstream view. The GOP will rebuild quickly with this new message as its banner, and most importantly, a man of true integrity at its helm who walks-the walk and makes it believable.
The GOP will have no choice but to follow Ron Paul once it has been destroyed in 2008.

I would like to make a plug for Saul Anuzis (Michigan's GOP Chairman) as the new RNC Chairman. Saul gave a speech here to a local Republican Club last week, and fully acknowledged the GOP's mistakes and the need to get the Party back to its roots. The neocons need to be tossed out on their ear if we have any hope of doing that, and I think Republican like Saul are in a position to do that.

Need More Candidates
We may have a great shot at rebuilding the GOP as a party of freedom and liberty, but I'm not sure Dr. Paul will be the man to pursue the oval office in 2012. He seems to be in great health and sharp right now, but age is a concern and who knows if he'll even want to run for office in four years.
We need to be getting people like BJ Lawson elected so that they can be vetted and gain the experience necessary to be electable for higher office. If they can hold to their ideals while in office, we could have many Ron Paul's instead of just one. There are many more positions to fill than just the presidency. If Lawson and others can make it into the house, then they will be in a position to someday move on to the senate or cabinet positions.
On an even more local level, people should be running for municipal, county, and state positions. Start with school board or city council, then move on to state rep or some such position, and then consider governor or US House.

I think we are in the right direction. Recent blogs and info from the top appear to suggest we are planning a take over of the GOP when McCain gets slammed in 3 days. This may be an opportunity to take over the GOP and streamline it into our goals.
I wrote this blog yesterday and agree with the thinking. The thought of starting a new party might be too difficult since time is not on our side.
You are right on target. After following the movement for over a year and reading countless blogs and watching some great videos, I believe this may be a direction we are attempting to go in. The following are some of my thoughts on the issues at hand. Please comment if you think I am off the mark.
Possible Plan of Action when McCain gets slammed in the Election
Recapture the Republican Party by giving millions of people the chance to join the New and Improved Republican Party created by the Campaign for Liberty and the Ideals of Dr. Ron Paul.
Create a strong message to be repeated for the next four years. E-mails blasts, signs, slim Jims, sponsor music concerts through America, Billboards etc... We need to get more funds infused into the campaign, need to get supporters with deep pockets or celebrity endorsements who love our cause. We need to think "outside the box" to turn our message on fire. We need Great PR, Great Slogans and a great message.
The Real Republicans will emerge, a group whose ideals have been forged by great Americans who gave us the blueprint for America which was hijacked and desecrated by unconstitutional, unethical and greed driven individuals and corporations.
The events in the next four years will make our statements self evident.
The Message and the Audience
I will list a few audiences for each message that will substantiate the statement I love to use "E Pluribus Unum" (meaning: out of many, comes one).
First off, by recapturing the GOP, 80% of the job has been done for us in regards to administrative, ballot access and other huge undertakings needed to start a third party. Plus there are millions of people that are "rank and file" republicans who blindly pull that level just because they are republicans.
Restore and obey the U.S. Constitution. A return to Constitutional Government. This is a common thread in many Americans. We need people to understand that since we have neglected this document, many of our problems have been created. Many laws and Government agencies would not exist if they followed the rule book. Many Libertarians and constitutionalists will welcome this. There are many.
Reduce the size of Government. The next four years we will see the size of Gov't grow more so and it will be evident to many that bigger is not necessarily better. Easy sell.
Return to limited Federal Government involvement, return of State rights. SEE ABOVE
Restore civil liberties as our Founding Fathers envisioned. Many groups out there support this, too many to name, align our efforts with them. The young people of this country will embrace this. There have been many movies over the years that relate to this concept and every younger generation "gets this". Old bastards like myself in our 40's also get it because as kids in the 60s and early 70's, this was big.
Return to a non-interventional Foreign Policy. Stop aggressive and unjust wars. 70% of Americans are against the war. No brainer. Educate, educate, educate..... Expose the lies, embrace the facts...
Purge Washington of Lobbyists and corporate interests dictating congressional activities. Easy sell, we all know it is corrupt, but there is no one putting their feet to the fire. I say we do it legally, jail them if we can, vote them out if we can't and most of all, embarrass them publicly. They are lucky it is not 1776, they would be tarred and feathered and I guarantee all the others would "Get it" rather quickly and cease activities that are not in the best interest of the American People.
Sound Money, Phase out the Federal Reserve System. Return of the Gold Standard. By year four, the valuation of our currency and the rate of inflation will be self-evident that something MUST be done. Educate, educate educate......
Re-evaluate the War on Drugs, more specifically on Marijuana usage and persecution. The number of decent law respecting Americans that use this plant for medicinal and recreation use in the privacy of their homes is enormous. Many will vote knowing that this plant may be decriminalized and the benefits for changing the laws regarding it are well documented from a health perspective to economical advantages. The research and opinions are out there but must be heard. There are Millions of people who support this secretly. Closet Pot smokers who all vote. Educate, educate, educate....
Secure our Borders. Millions of people know this and want change. Something must be done and soon.
We must form a plan ( Hoping it will come from the top down at the direction of Dr. Paul), develop a strong national team and commit ourselves to 4 years of relentless activities to accomplish our goals. Sounds hard, well let me end this with the last lines of the Declaration of Independence and think what those brave Patriots did to save our country.

BJ Lawson will be a force in years to come
I think BJ Lawson has a future in politics even if he loses this year. Listening to him on Glen Beck's radio show, he definitely has the right stuff. He's also quite a bit younger than Ron Paul was when he entered politics. Give him 2 or 4 more years and he can reflect on this election cycle, learn from his mistakes, and refine his campaign strategy. He will also be a familiar face to his constituents and they will be more likely to give him a chance. I've seen it time and again in politics: everyone loses the first time but determination wins out in the end. Ron Paul also lost a few times when he started but he persevered and has seen nothing but success since those early days.
Could Happen Tuesday
If when all said and done, if Barr or Baldwin play a spoiler role in a state that if McCain won could have given him the presidency, the MSM will go crazy.
Barr, Paul, and Baldwin talk about the GOP going wrong and losing their way. They might be the talk of election night.

There are about a dozen congressmen who Ron Paul hangs out with who more or less vote his way. Basically anyone who voted for the bailout should go down in flames, and anyone who voted against it should remain. There are a lot more Democrats who supported the bailout.

My congressman, Todd Platts, voted against the bailout. But the question is: did he do it out of conscience, or because it's election time and we put pressure on him? I didn't see him on the floor blasting the bill like RP, Kaptur, etc...

Amazingly enough, I'm having an easier time getting "liberals" to understand our message of freedom than the pro-war republicans.
I'm sure once we go bankrupt and our troops will be forced to have to come back home, the Republicans will be easier to convert, but don't underestimate the power of our message. Our message is so logical most people with half a brain will listen.
As times get harder for all Americans, our message will undoubtedly break through most political barriers.

The GOP is doing it all by itself without our help. After they're done, we just start moving our guys in. It sure won't happen overnight, but it'll happen in due time. Thanks to Ron Paul's C4L and his seminars he held during the RNC week, it's going to happen :-) The whole campaign was more of a calling out to people who took his message to heart and understood it. The motivation to run for local offices is exactly what the doctor ordered. They're the ones who'll work upwards through the system, while new ones will hopefully fill the vacated seats and start the process over. It can't wait to see how this grows.

I agree, if ever there were a time that the GOP was ready to be turned around to its roots, the time is now. And the great thing is that there are some pretty simple steps that can be taken to start to plant seeds and maneuver the party. In most cities, the Republican Party meets monthly. These meetings are free to attend and most of them dont even verify that you are a republican. I would start there and then slowly work your way into the party leadership. But be sure to bring a bag to your first few meetings because the bush-mccain-war worship thing will likely make you want to hurl.
That said, I also agree with Dellacat that we need to break out of the two party system. I say why not try to accomplish both. It would be great if the GOP were more in line were our ideals AND if a third or fourth party were accepted as a viable player.
I know this is having my cake and eating too, but its worth a shot...what have we got to lose?

Ron said he won't run again. He also said he wouldn't run 3rd party. Guess what, he didn't. I have every reason to believe him when he said he will not run again. It was on some MSM appearance, i don't know which one. The best way forward absent some real revolution is to make him Speaker of the House by getting more pro-liberty candidates in office by 2010 and 2012. Let him guide us and tell us who to support in 2012. America will not elect him, or support his candidates or ideas unless we take down corporate media. We must crush the CFR and MSM first, or all is for naught.

We need Ron Paul NOW. He MUST reannounce that he considers himself a candidate either as a republican or an independent IMMEDIATELY. We are witnessing the BEGINNING of the deleveraging of a $1/2-1 QUADRILLION (thats $1000 trillion or $1,000,000 billion or $1,000,000,000,000,000) derivatives gambling casino- and Washington is trying to save it!
I know he has withdrawn his name, but please read my explanation at the link below. I do not think our financial system, and ultimately the economy are going to make it through next year. We need Ron Paul- he is the only well known candidate who actually understood what is happening, reported it to us, and took actions to stop it (HR 2755).
Whether it will count or not, and likely I will have to use a paper ballot, I intend at this time to write in Ron Paul. If enough people do it, it will send a message to the electoral college. If the financial system goes into the next phase of collapse by Dec. 15th (quite possible), America and the electoral college may wake up.
Neither McCain nor Obama had anything to say on the financial collapse (other than a few things about Fannie and housing problems) until October 2008. There is a huge disconnect here, and I do not trust it.
We must stop this 2012 fantasy. The time ot save our nation and return to constitutional governance is NOW.

The 2012 campaign should have officially started at the CFL rally. We think we got obstacles now???- by 2012 the state of affairs in the US (and abroad for that matter) will have our nation looking unrecognisable. We need to ban electronic machines- first thing- or these elections will just keep being rigged- we squandered alot of our freedoms this time- we may not be so free to be Paulites next time. Quite honestly we need to spend the next 4 years campaigning everyday as if it were the last week before the election of 2012. There cant be an "off season"- we should make calls, post videos and email friends about the issues. We're going to need a hell of alot of momentum going for us to surpass the obstacles that will be in our way as a result of whoever gets elected this time.
