The $700 billion Wall Street rescue package isn't playing favorites on the campaign trail: Both Republican and Democratic incumbents are under fire for backing the bailout.
While presidential rivals Sens. John McCain and Barack Obama both supported the Bush administration's rescue plan, the congressional vote on the bailout is figuring prominently in a large number of close House and Senate races this fall, with supporters of the bill in the hot seat in race after race.
In Kentucky, for example, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell faces a strong challenge from Democrat Bruce Lunsford, a millionaire businessman from Louisville, whose television ads have hammered the four-term incumbent for his leading role in helping pass the $700 billion rescue package.

Over the last couple of days I have been getting a lot of republicans to not vote straight ticket. It is sad the degree of ignorance I have been seeing in these people. When I asked two different life long republicans if they was going to vote for lindsey graham for U.S. senate, they asked "is she were a republican" and they were being dead serious. When I simply pointed out some of his votes they wouldn't touch him with a ten foot poll. I am finnally making some of them think.
If any of you know anybody in South Carolina please call them tonight and in conversation bring up lindsey in conversation and tell them about him, espesially on his vote for bailout and how he wrote the amnisty bill last year then called us a bunch a bigots after it got deafeted.

I couldn't help wondering how many people thought Lindsey Graham was a woman, and they weren't aware of Graham being pro-illegal alien amnesty and a backer of the terrible McCain-Kennedy amnesty for illegal aliens bill, as well as someone who didn't care much about stopping illegal immigration. Graham also voted for the bailout, another reason to get rid of him. IMHO I think we will eventually consider
the bailout votes to be a tipping point. The coalition that voted against the "rescue"bill in the House - and won - was oemthing we hadn't seen in modern political times. It was an outright rebellion! Then the Senate and 2nd House votes showed the public just how crass and despicable our representatives can be. Crystal clear whose side they were on.
Sen. Sununu voted for the bill and he is about to get his ass kicked by the Democratic challenger. If our other Sen. was up for election this time around he would go down in flames. Our 2 Dem. Reps voted against the bills both times!

Agree. The libertarians and free-staters in
NH don't tend to run out in the open. They run as GOP and Dems or as independents.
There are Libertarian candidates for all the major offices. They are very low profile and, as far as I can tell, have made little impact.
I am surprised that no one is running as a RP Republican or Democrat.

I like Barletta a lot, althought most people can find some issues they disagree with him on, I really like his stance against illegal immigration and amnesty for illegal aliens.
