one true thing i learned from this movie...

colin powell's son is a puppet...less than a man, a true uncle tom and a slave to the corporations...what does that make his father?

to me, the apple does not fall far from the tree...colin powell is less than a man, a true uncle tom and a slave to the corporations...

of course the same is true of all the media controlled puppets/politicians...whether they be white or black they are all "uncle toms"

will it take a revolution to change this country? will it take a terrible and bloody revolution or...will the military and police decide the people are right and choose not to kill or detain them...

will our country roll towards a bloodless lockstep into fascism without our government firing a single shot? will they just scare us all into submission by threatening to take away our soft existence?

O Captain, My Captain, rise up and hear the bells!

this is the scariest part...

we can't reach the sheeple even now, with the internet...

imagine the kind of shape we'll be in when the internet is gone...

O Captain, My Captain, rise up and hear the bells!

Internet gone?

Are you talking about these idiotic Net-Neutrality regulations that they want to put in place? I hope those die on the vine or we are in trouble. Somehow I think the Democrats and Obama will push them through.

more direct

I think there's already been some silent hardware changes, Never think something's impossible... and don't take for granted what we have today cause it might not be here tomorrow.

Internet, Cell Phones... fragile technology all over the place, the more centralized the easier to control or just take away

lots of scenarios, but am leaning towards some kind of so called "upgrade" that'll make it less like a library and more like an indoctrination/coersion/spy tool

I think they are already doing that some

If you'll notice how slow certain websites load as compared to the "approved" websites, Lew Rockwell for example, it loads so slow for me, but you click on CNN, and it comes right up. I have noticed that self reliance sites, ammo sites, and more and more libertarian/conservative sites have been loading slow lately.

Thank you Dr. Paul for making me act on what I already knew was right.

Unconstitutional

The 1st amendment to the Constitution states:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

The FCC is therefore unconstitutional since it has been known to "abridge" free speech.

http://www.theregister.co...

Like a poster below stated this is all a moot point because there shouldn't be an FCC to begin with. The government created the FCC
via the Communications Act of 1934. The government does not have the authority or the right to censor any speech in America.

Take Back Your Country!

I will literally scream….

If I hear another person say the founders could not have anticipated “x”, in this film’s example it is transnational corporations.
Oh yes they did. Every aspect of trouble in our republic was anticipated. The current dialogue, as in this crappy film, is around the symptoms not the disease.
This film is all about big government, our problems and our freedoms can only be protected by big government. Corporations could only secure something as ludicrous as free speech rights for a legal entity, from big government. As Mark Crispin Miller shares his frustration that the government gave corporations free speech rights like a human being; what is lost is that free speech isn’t a right that government gives to anyone. Our rights are granted by our creator. If you are an atheist than I hope you would agree that those rights are bequeathed to you by your parents bringing you into this world.
The constitution grants no rights it just specifies which rights the government cannot infringe upon.
It is also interesting to note that this granting of free speech happened while the democrats controlled both houses. It is also interesting to note, as it was only mentioned in passing, that the media consolidation we suffer with today was a Clinton gift, “The Telecom Act of 1996”.
Our founders anticipated all of this – every last detail. All this film deals with are the symptoms.
The disease these symptoms show is corruption. Our founder understood that power corrupts human nature. The ONLY protection that will work, then as now, is limiting the scope that government has in our lives.
Only big goverment can come up with something like free speech for legal entity. In summary I do not think too little government is the problem.
rn

Liberty = Responsibility

And how!

You are precisely correct. The founders well understood humans are evil bastards :).

I feel it is of upmost importance to do careful research

on the backgrounds of these filmmakers and the subjects of their work.

There is very little truth in this world.

These films of which there must be 1000's are PART OF THE CONTROL PROCESS.

The opposition in our reality is controlled. Naomi Wolfe is a good example. She writes scathing attacks on the status quo and votes for Obama.

When you see anything or more importantly anybody in the media keep in mind that their presence in the public eye is managed. They have done the same thing with Dr. Paul.

The Doc knows what they are doing which is why he simply repeats the truth over and over again whenever he is in the media.

They are however, using the Doc, but I think he is able to "use" them, with his approach. The Doc believes in God and he knows that the truth is a thing of immeasurable power.

A lot of these youtubes have a lot of truth, but ALWAYS have a few well placed lies as that is the approach.

They will always use the truth and then twist in one lie. It is how they work.

So these films posted at DP need to be watched carefully, then you can learn to spot the lie...it's fun...it's like doing a puzzle.

This particular vid is loaded with collectivists...God bless'em.

If you want a far better movie

If you want a far better movie, one that doesn't mention democracy every 5 seconds.....

go rent "John Adams"

far better. (not without it's flaws, but it's good work)

You'll hear about a Constitutional Republic far quicker.

Interviews in film

This film interviews:

Bernie Sanders - self described "Democratic socialist"
Charles Lewis - former 60 minutes host (bleh) who is married to a former director of the Consumer Product Safety Commission
Michael Moore - no comment
Danny Schechter - organized "War on Poverty", TV producer
Robert W. McChesney - socialist
Mark Crispin Miller - typical leftist professor
Greg Palast - BBC journalist, Democrat cheerleader
Vincent Bugliosi - typical Democrat supporter

Not exactly a very balanced roster there. There isn't one person who is a libertarian or for that matter a Republican, such as Ron Paul. I'm a little suspicious of this film. I bet it wants to tell us that more government regulations and control are in order.

Just found this photo. You're not gonna like this. (Obama)

"Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters." Benjamin Franklin

WOW

look at all the kool-aid drinkers' signatures!

This is very strange

Prof. McChesney lives in my neighborhood. Way back when, I was collecting signatures to get RP on the ballot in IL. I knocked on McChesney's door and not only would he not sign but he began ranting and raving about how Libertarian's think money is God. He is a member of the Socialist Review which is a Marxist publication. Why does a statist care about the media? Please, inform me.

Interesting!

Thanks for spotting that. I noticed most of the people interviewed are outright Marxists or at best Keynesians.

I wonder if Orwell was just

I wonder if Orwell was just able to call the future or they used his work as a blue print or a combination of both. Either way, we're there.

Or, could it be that he was one of them and his assignment was

"Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters." Benjamin Franklin
---

to imprint their plans into our brains? I think this will make it easier for them to carry out their plans.

The Ron Paul Revolution exists mainly due to the free Internet.

Otherwise he would have been completely suppressed, in the news, in polls, information-wise, and in fund raising.

Ron Paul's Convention Speech

Dont worry that will happen

Dont worry that will happen with internet 2, and then there wont be any chance to reach the 99% of the people, the same people that have their heads up their asses and continue to validate the system(if those were the real numbers).

summary of first third of movie:

George Bush stole the election in 2004. Subtext: If Al Gore had been elected, we would be sittin' pretty.

(I'm not so sure 'bout that.)

Democracy

When they start talking democracy i turn it off.

It definitely is a good

It definitely is a good example of how most people are kept hypnotized and confused. A great example of why never to believe the entire message of anything at purely face value.

I do the exact same thing

I can't stand when they refer to America as a democracy. Or even how they cast democracy in such a positive light. Reminds me of the nonsensical jabber that lord Noam Chomsky spits out.

"Greater than the force of mighty armies is the power of an idea whose time has come"
- Victor Hugo

The problem is that there is

The problem is that there is an FCC, that is the basis for abuse, if the FCC did not exist then there would be no means of control.

there I go again being too simplistic.

fairness doctrine = end of alternative media

fairness doctrine = end of alternative media

Paul Krugman

Paul Krugman is one of our enemies. HE advocates an inflationary system, so it's totally hypocritical that he whines about growing income disparity

He's a blithering Keynsian idiot

They have been building up Krugman lately to be the next Keynes. I suspect we'll see him with a prominent political position this cycle or in 2012.

This video really shows how corrupt those fascist are

I think It will be much better over there with the communist/socialist. Sorry this is more half truth. Half truth always come with half lies. Yeah the Republican party is evil but so are the socialist. I find it sad there are people who have been fighting this evil coin for over a year now and still do not understand there are two sides to the coin. If you continue to jump from one side of the coin to the other what do you have? The same coin you've always had. I agree with Ron Paul we need a competeing currency.

We are not a Democracy we are a republic. Our president is not picked by Democracy he gains his power through the electorial college. In my state if 40 more people would have shown up at our state convention Ron Paul would have won the electors of my state. I was a challenged delegate because they where scared we had the 2/3 to overturn anything they did. Why? Because this is the way to power. PERIOD!

Socialism is a compromise. Once a person has compromised his principles once he will always be compromised. The key to this is dividing the coin into two coins with each coin having its own front and back not leaping from side to side. Both coins must stand on their own on thier principles without compromise. Why do they wish to have one coin? Because for socialism to rule every nation all nations must be compromised to the middle and all sides must be on the same coin. Then its just a matter of who holds the one coin. The video has some good points in it but it also has an agenda of its own. What is the agenda? Democracy! allowing the mob of people who do not even know who they are voting for pick the president of the united states. the sad part is these people vote for who they see on the TV. Again you come to a two sided coin. If you regulate the TV then Government picks what you see if you deregulate it then the Corp. pick who you see. if the government and Corp. are in bed together then you get the choice between Communisim (the government owning all capital [news]) or fascism (the Corp. owning all capital [news]). sorry but the same coin owns it either way. You are only allowed to see one side at a time. I was hoping the Ron Paul movement had opened peoples eyes to allow them to see the entire coin (both sides at the same time). It seems people can see both sides just not at the same time. So we can just leap over to the communist side because we are so sick of the fascist side. The Corp. took care of George bush and covered his tracks and people see the evil of it. Now it is time for Obama to bring out regulation and he will use regulation to protect the Corp. Its a back scratching party that people for some reason choose not to see. This is what socialism is in in a nutshell compromise to two sides of a coin that can only be seen one side at a time by the people. While the people at the top are always looking at both sides of the coin at the same time. I hate to burst your bubble but if you promote socialism you are part of the problem not the solution. Socialism is a tactic (just like terrorism). Socialism is an ideology of compromising tolarence while terrorism is an ideology of uncompromising intolarence. Both sides of this coin is also looked at one side at a time by the people while those at the top see both sides at the same time. Might I add while you play their game in coin side watching. The coin of your Forefathers is in the melting pot. This is an uncompromising tolarence that will be lost to you and your children after you if you take your eye off the ball. What is this coin I speak of it is a coin with democraticly elected representatives elected by the people and an electorially elected president that is chosen by the people for the people of the people (at your convention). This coin is to be protected by the Rule of Law (the Constitution of the United States of America) and it is suppose to be upheld by the people we choose to serve us. The people of this nation should be uncompromising in the upholding of the Law of the Land and the government should be tolarent to the rights of the people. Anything else is just a dream or a nightmare depending on what side of the coin your on at the time. Take the blue pill!
Keep in mind Our Forefathers did not wish to have a mortal falable king so they made one that would rule forever its called the Constitution of the United States of America and they put it under only the Creator of all. In doing so they covered both sides of this coin. If you believe in a creator he will have authority over our king when/if he comes and if you do not believe in a creator then he will never come in your mind and so you will always have the king they put in power the Constitution not a falable man who will always be compromised. Its simple really you either live by it or you don't. Any form of intellectualizing it only corrupts it.

Well thought out

You made some excellent points. It's good to see there are a lot of people here on DP who have the ability to analyze the media and spot the weaknesses.

Thanks for posting this Michael...

I think they get their principles mixed up. Or maybe I do. I DO think that in order to guarantee FAIR and accurate media coverage (which is essential for a free country) we need to encourage competition and LIMIT monopoly ownership of news outlets. In this case that is because "airwaves" should be freely accessed and because INFORMATION is so essential for society to operate well.

BUT, I do NOT believe in regulating what is ON those stations (i.e. "The Fairness Doctrine"), but feel that the market place should decide what shows people want to listen to or watch. If people actually have a CHOICE because the stations are owned by a multitude of different people, then the PEOPLE will chose those stations that give them the best coverage of stories and real competition for market share will be accomplished. Thanks again for giving us more to think about!

"Not armies, not nations, have advanced the race; but here and there, in the course of ages, an individual has stood up and cast his shadow over the world."

Good video - but too long

The point is well made in the video but there are far too many examples shown - it gets repetitious.

There is a really good part late in the video; 1:29:30, when Michael Copps (FEC Commissioner) is shown testifying about media in America.

He is a compelling and competent professional who may help wake people up to what is really occurring. I recommend that anyone interested in the subject download the transcript of Copps' entire testimony:

LEARN FROM YOUR OWN FEELING!
Which posts discourage you? It is my strong opinion that this has already been studied extensively by professionals and the findings have been applied.

Shouldn't you...

...be out on a ledge somewhere to sacrifice your life and your soul on the alter of the professionals?

That said the film is a very good and informational one. Worth the watch for its point of view.

I especially like when our congressional turnover is compared to Russia's. That is particularly amusing, minding of course that comedy has its roots in tragedy :).

I am not a troll

I am just saying what I think. I have watched the movie, I agree on the media aspect just not some of the points it brings up sorry.

Everyone should watch this movie.

"Greater than the force of mighty armies is the power of an idea whose time has come"
- Victor Hugo

Some flaws but over all good

It blames deregulation for failures when in reality industries are heavily regulated it is just that corporations use government to take away competition. So many well-meaning people get caught up in that trap. They think Big Business hates Big Government when in reality they are one in the same and Big Business HATES Limited Government.

These people also cover how the 2000 election was stolen but I guarantee many people the voting system is sound now that messiah Obama got in.

But overall it is a good critique on the media despite the word democracy being flouted every 10 minutes.

TROLLS ARE ALREADY TRYING TO DISCOURAGE PEOPLE

FROM WATCHING THIS EXCELLENT FILM!

That should say it all. Watch it for a couple of min and decide for yourself. I think you will end up watching the whole thing.

People who have an opinion are not trolls!

You seem to think that anyone who disagrees with something is a troll. Are we not allowed to have a valid discussion and offer criticism? Frankly I find this movie suspect due to the people involved coming from one very evil side of the political spectrum.

I don't see any trolls on here trying to discourage people

from watching it. Take a chill pill maybe?

Parties...

...don't exist from the other side of the looking glass... Just an FYI... Feel free to stay assleep(not a mispelling)... Just a comment directly at the film.

"We have one more choice than communist Russia did..."

I don't know about this one...

They were bashing Reagan for repealing the fairness doctrine...which is so fair as to not let any other opinion besides that of the R's and D's circulate throughout the public...

This is a great video for Naderites and left-leaners considering that this video attributes most of the problems to the evil Republicans (which they are), but making it appear as though the Deomcrats and their regulations are the way to prosperity and freedom...

I like the overall message, but disagree with the presentation...

We don't have a free-press

And it's not because the radio/tv is primarily owned by big corporations.
It's because there exists the FCC which prevents free entry.

ps. That's ridiculous that this doc supports the Fairness Doctrine.

I've seem this before. The message is good and it's powerfully

presented.

Horrendous quality.

Try watching it at Google

Thank you

Thanks Michael; Google's is much better quality. Thank you also for sharing this with us. Once again, you are right on target!

No

this video is what ultimately confuses people. Sure it exposes the media but it doesn't get at the heart of the problem. It actually runs the opposite direction.
