Today's warning from the pharmaceutical indsutry

OK, I confess: I flipped on a soap opera in the background while I sew. A commercial just came on for Abilify. It began with this sentence:
"2 out of 3 people on antidepressants still suffer symptoms of depression."
Others warn of suicidal thoughts or behavior as possible side effects. PLEASE review ssristories.com before you or anyone you love starts these medications. I urge people to SERIOUSLY consider all options before accepting any prescription.
Well, they just cut on so Bam-Bamm could go play with Pebbles, I mean George.

Be your own doctor
I think the cause of depression is a lacking of fulfillment in life - not 'chemical imbalance'. That's nothing but a line to trick people into wanting to 'fix their chemical balance'... so here, buy this pill!
Our brain produces different sorts of chemicals that are responsible for the way we feel. As when we are in a fearful situation - adrenaline. In an exciting situation - endorphin. I'm not an expert, but I think this is a safe generalization.
Now when there is a lack of fulfillment in life, our body/brain produces depressants which makes us feel depressed. So the solution is to find fulfillment.
So taking drugs to fix a problem like depression is like breaking your finger and taking morphine instead of fixing the injury.
We are creative, spiritual beings. Art and spirituality (finding direction in life, or love of something higher than yourself) are the true cures to depressive feelings.
But most doctors won't tell you that. There's no money to make from cure, especially if you can do it yourself! Doctors are salesmen by design.

Pharmacists remain in short supply
Starting salaries might be $120,000 plus incentives, like a BMW
SACRAMENTO, CALIF. - The enticement was hard to refuse: a signing bonus of $30,000. The wad of cash would help with student loans, so who could turn down the extra cash -- on top of a nearly $130,000 annual salary?
So, straight out of pharmacy school at UNC-Chapel Hill, R.J. Kulyk crossed the country for a job at a Walgreens in Redding, Calif. "It was a no-brainer," Kulyk recalled.
Pharmacists remain in short supply across the country, particularly in rural areas. Competition among retail outlets and health-care facilities is fierce, and the pay -- salaries typically start around $120,000 -- is high. To lure pharmacists, retailers are dangling incentives of all kinds. For a while, one even put recruits behind the wheel of a BMW.
"You felt safe while in pharmacy school, that you could pretty much decide where you wanted to go," said Kulyk, 32. "You could live anywhere in the country."
SSRI's
When I was in high school, I was diagnosed with depression. I was hospitalized several times and I tried a few different SSRI's (Celexa, Zoloft, and Wellbutrin). I was on the max doses and all they did was turn me into a 'zombie'. They didn't cure my depression; all they did was numb any feelings, good or bad. Ultimately, not being happy at all just made the situation worse. I decided to stop taking the drugs and I'm happy to say I've never had to deal with depression since then. A few months later, I 'woke up' to the NWO, cannabis, and, most importantly, my Catholic faith. My advice for anyone that is suffering from depression is to stop seeing psychiatrists and talk to a priest. Most cases of depression are not caused by chemical imbalances, but a serious problem in your spiritual life. I won't get into it here, since it would take a lot of time to explain; but as far as priests go, visit a priest from the Society of St. Pius X if you can (www.sspx.org). Many diocesan priests today, unfortunately, are not trained correctly in Catholic doctrine. All the depression and suicides in this culture of death that we live in today is the result of our godless society. My prayers go out to all of you that may be suffering from depression, I've been there. St. Dymphna, pray for us.
Drugs and profit (rant)
What is a drug? A 'drug' is merely a substance that alters the way the mind or body works.
'Drugs' are inherent in everything we consume. Whether it's the nutrients that give us energy, the amount of oxygen or other gases in the air we breathe, physical exercise, or even the sunlight consumed trough our skin - it is anything from our environment that has an effect on our being.
However, today we are learned that it is something more particular, such as 'medicine', 'narcotics', or 'stimulant'. And hence we have the consequence of something as ambiguous as the "war on drugs".
Some people make claims like 'I don't do drugs', while actually being heavy-users of drugs like nicotine, caffeine, and aspartame - which are possibly more dangerous than the illegal drugs they mean to refer to.
Ironically, legal, synthetic drugs are proven to be more dangerous than the illegal, natural ones that come from earth.
Obviously the 'war on drugs' is ludicrous. You can't win a war on 'drugs' anymore than a war on 'terror'. It has a meaningless, elusive enemy to create a the war never ends - and it is not designed to. It is a business. Like the Federal Reserve, it's supposed purpose is a lie. It is all about profiteering at the expense of others.
So by no coincidence, safe and natural drugs become criminal, while the real criminals who create unnatural, unsafe, deadly poisonous drugs are free to go. There is more profit in pharmaceuticals; and from waging war against natural drugs than anyone can make for themselves.
Pharmaceutical manufactures do not care about your health. They don't care about you! Their only concern is to make money off your illnesses. The money is in the treatment, not prevention or cure. So the more ill you become, the better.

Caused moderate akathesia (unbearable restlessness) in me. Couldn't stand it but it may help others. I mean, help get a lid on crazy thoughts like FREEDOM.
why does everyone think they are an expert on depression?
Depression is a serious physical illness that happens to affect the mind. Please, if you feel that you may be depressed seek professional medical help. Do not allow all these self proclaimed experts deter you.
If you had diabetes or any other physical illness you wouldn't have all these yahoo's telling you what to do and take. It is some peculiar bias against mental illness that makes people react this way.
Sure the medications have side effects and the medications don't help everyone but they do help some people alot.
Medication can only be a short term solution
Eventually you will have to deal with your real world problems and existential/spiritual crisis that is depressing you. Sustained depression is disharmony with the world and God. Pills numb you out to it, so you keep on the same foolish path.
I have seen people push these pills just to silence "problem people" in there life. They gave up and wrote them off, also refused to acknowledge any role their f-ed up, psychotic behavior played in causing somebodies depression. These pills are part of our cultural psychosis.
Depression
First of all being depressed is normal, being depressed all the time is not. 99% of the time a lasting depression is caused by diet or environment two things a "professional" in the medical establishment will not address.
Patagonian
We are as much an expert as the experts. I'll say this one more time. There is no medical test with any scientific basis to prove mental illness is an illness of the mind, or inbalance in serotonin, dopamine, or any other brain chemical. They don't know what normal levels are in anyone so they cannot control the changes these drugs have on the brain chemicals. The drug induced mania is a perfect example of that. It's nothing but a big experiment that can cause permanent brain damage.
A doctor can Dx diabetes with a blood test and whats more interesting is diabetes can be controlled in many people with just the diet.
My opinion is there is a chemical inbalance in the body, most likely the endocrin system that effects how the person feels and thinks. They probably know it as well but finding the cause and curing it is not what medicine is about. Its about money and keeping the person coming back, and if they are really lucky its about causing other illness's from the drugs they are using.
If you have a headache and you pop two aspirin and the headache goes away was your headache caused by not enough aspirin in your blood stream? You would laugh at me me if I tried to convince you of that. That is same rational behind these mind altering drugs.
The reason people with so called mental illness believe the drugs are helping them is because they think they have no place else to turn. There are other options but the pharmaceutucals would never spend the money to research this, they would rather come up with more drugs. I think the tide is turning though. So many lawsuits and with lawsuits come the truth about the effectiveness of these drugs in the so called secret trials, also the true side effect that they would cover up other using other drugs. SSRI's are know to cause aggitation, so what do they do, prescribe another very addictive drug benzo's but they don't tell the patient its the drug causing the aggitation or anxiety, they tell them they have an anxiety disorder along with the depression. If you want to believe the drugs are helping you then for Gods sake do some research to see what they have Dx you with and how much is side effects from the drug. Many people have come off these drugs and stay off. They are the survivors and they are telling their stories. They are the true experts.
Walking testimony (thank God)
I was diagnosed as being depressed and suffering from anxiety. At one point I was on 9 different prescriptions to "help" me. NINE prescriptions at one time. So one night I come home from work and my back hurts. I have a beer and take a lortab. I was feeling pretty down so I took a couple zoloft and then I was a "little antsy and took a couple of xanax. Had another beer, then opened some wine. My back still hurt like hell so I took a couple more lortabs. Then decided I needed to go to bed but really wasn't sleepy so I took about 25 ambien. I have no idea as to why a friend decided to drop by that night but she found me on the floor in my dining room. I woke up in intensive care. They said they could have called my time of death 3 times in the ER. I was not trying to kill myself, just lost all focus. Today I better have one hell of a migraine to even consider putting any pills other than vitamins in my system.
And a short footnote, I went through pure hell withdrawing from all those "legal" drugs!
They want the general population drugged and dumbed down.
you mean like this doctor?

great article!!
Wow it's so good to see the truth finally coming out.
To answer your question...
Because many of us have either taken antidepressants or have a family member who does, and we do not wish to see others go through the pain and agony that these pills cause. The problem with leaving it up to the doctors is that most do not adequately warn patients about the side effects or prescribe counseling to complement the medication. So we're stuck warning others about the risks because the medical professionals won't.
AND....
Many of the family practice physicians themselves don't know nearly enuf about it. They can do more harm than good if they don't refer to someone who specializes/studies that particular field way more than THEY do!
What is truly tragic
The people who suffer from depression have no other alternative than to take these drugs with all the short and long term effects. What is even worse is that people who don't really have these conditions are being Dx with them. They will never come up with better treatments or cures as long as the pharmaceuticals can make money convincing those sufferers that its a life long condition and they will target the most vulnerable population like kids, and elderly and most recently infants and toddlers. It makes me sick to my stomach.
Agreed

The key
is that when you are Bipolar, antidepressants can put you into a manic state while you are depressed and want to kill yourself, giving you the energy to actually follow through.
I owe my life to these murder pills. My whole life I have suffered from mania and depression, and meds were the only thing that helped. Have they ever caused bad side effects? YES! I was on lithium and I was emotionally flat, gained 30-40 pounds (only up to 160 or so) developed bad acne, and developed hypothyroidism. They went away as soon as I switched meds. My current med coctail is working just fine so far, but as you can imagine, this past year has been really tough on me.
Gale.........
Some people won't understand ..... but sometimes I think the people with the most courage are the ones who live with some sort of mental illness. Kudos to you for doing whatever you need to to put up with the disease, AND the meds, AND that part of society that doesn't understand. You go!

What side effects?
I've been on Paxil for years and it has enabled me to enjoy my life rather than being miserable with depression and anxiety. I have absolutely no side effects and I don't lack fulfillment in my life. If anything, I am more fulfilled because I'm able to get out and do the things I enjoy.
wow, another pill on top of
wow, another pill on top of your always growing drug cocktail...another way for the pharmaceutical industry to make a buck.
The only real guaranteed antidepressant-Cannabis. Works 100% of the time, and you don't even get suicidal tendency's!...AND you don't have to see your doctor for a prescription. wow, imagine that.
Think for yourself, question authority
That particularly struck me too...
it is medication you take WITH your current antidepressant. The first meds only work 1/3 of the time so let's just trust that the second and or more is better???
Libertarians also work in the Pharmac
Libertarians also work in the Pharmaceutical industry you know. Lets live our lives as healthy as we want, but don't put down a capitalist industry that helps people and makes a profit. I do not take anti depressives ( although this elections might change that, lol) But the products the pharma industry help keep me alive with my asthma and diabetes.
Remember, Libertarians are supposed to defend the ability of a capitalist organization to exist in the free market. BTW, many pharma companies are hurting and some will go under, but none are begging to the federal government for a bailout.
Drug companies and government hard at work
http://100777.com/node/1191
Please people start looking up and asking questions, these s-bags are planning something very big.
Drug companies who run the AMA and the FDA
come short of only one other institution that has caused more needless pain, suffering, and death. All pharmaceuticals are poison....anyone who thinks anything other than that is a moron. The same institutions that claim to have all the right drugs to make us better are same band of cut throats that make us sick. Notice all drug companies have an Agriculture division take Monsanto for example, that continually come up with new ways to poison our food supply that ultimately make us sick thus needing a cure, it's called the circle of profit. People are not depressed because they have a prozac deficiency. Joe take a look at the sky once in a while maybe those long white trails spewing from the back of the military tankers might have something to do with your asthma, or perhaps all the toxic garbage the FDA allows into our so called food system could be the cause of your diabetes what do you think. And as far as drug companies not begging for money they don't have to they have been getting billions of tax dollars every year for decades through their subsidies.
I faithfully take my medicine daily.
For what it's worth... Besides eating mostly natural/organic food, I start each day with the following supplementation:

They're selling medicine to well people, making them sick
I quit taking blood pressure pills because of side effects. My wife can't take cholesterol medicine because of side effects.
Google:
1. "The truth about high blood pressure": You should find that the mortality rates are the same whether you take medication or not. I just restrict salt, plenty of diuretic foods, exercise, steam baths and lost weight. At the gym yesterday after working out 100/64, Age 66, 6'2'', #220
2. "Framingham Study" (cholesterol) : You can assess your risk factors (quiz) and you will more than likely find medicating only reduces cardiac events minusculely. My wife 2%. It ain't worth it !!! BTW, statistically, she will live longer than me and I have good cholesterol. Her MD says if he treats seven patients aggressively, he only helps one.
Remember, only you know what is right for you.
A few words on the cholesterol "problem."
It's a big fat scam. Cholesterol is the body's defense against heart attacks.

Great website exposing the cholesterol drugs
Check out www.spacedoc.net. Dr. Graveline is an astronaut and a medical doctor. He has suffered some horrible health problems resulting from being on a statin drug to lower his cholesteral. His website and books are a must for anyone that is on or thinking about going on one of the cholesteral drugs!

for cholesterol control. Statins, of which the side effects are manifold, which they are now wanting to promote for even healthy people (http://www.usatoday.com/n...).
There are too many links about the negative side effects to list but google. Your health might depend on it. (BTW: one of the many is peripheral neuropathy which is irreversible.)
The worst part is, this whole cholesterol stuff is by now such an engrained belief and it is all based on LIES (what's new). Please, those not familiar with the biggest myth on cholesterol start reading up on this myth, it is all about money, NOT your health.
Google: Myth of cholesterol.
And no, I am not kidding about this. I have one dear friend in a wheel chair as a result of taking the statins, another one ongoing eye trouble. It is going to come out in meainstream media sooner or later as did Vioxx and Celebrex. They can't keep this shoved under the carpet forever although they have been succeeding for a few years now. Value your health: do some serious study and research on statins.

Blood Pressure
Mine was just edging into "high" territory.
I read an article on http://www.naturalnews.com/ that suggested some natural remedies. I picked a few of them, Fish Oil, Magnesium, CoQ10, Vit. C, after a few weeks I was down 10-15 points! YMMV
i think life was designed to be happy
and if we are depressed then it's a sign that there's something we don't understand about it. we've all been depressed about things. often short-lived.
i think there's a lot of things we don't know about this world, and the knowing of which, would change everything.
You got it.
If disappointment turns to depression, your body is no doubt short on nutrients.
I had this miserable bout of depression back when I happened to maintain an almost steady diet of junk food. I started taking vitamin pills (from GNC or something). I snapped out of it right away—I was still eating the same way. The difference was that my disappointments were just disappointments (all pretty much inconsequential).

Thank you for making this post
And thank you Michael for putting this on the front page. It's very upsetting and frustrating to see doctors hand out these dangerous drugs like candy.
Heard a commercial
on a Columbus radio station this weekend. Now they want parents to get a pertussis booster, because they say parents are now killing their babies because they are giving them pertussis. This is the website they give out:http://www.pkids.org/dis_pert_about-pertussis.php#adult. When does the nonsense end?
This is getting downright CRIMINAL !!!
.
Here's a sample from that site:
Just complete insanity.
There was a live chat several months ago here in Polk County FL with several doctors regarding a whooping cough "outbreak" in our area.
During the chat, I kept asking the doctor to give the statistics regarding the outbreak because the news articles kept blaming the UNvaccinated fo rthe outbreak.
Well, much to my shock, the doctor dropped the following stats on the live chat:
It could only be proven from the stats that were LATER given by Dr. Haight that TWO of the twenty-six were unvaccinated.
At LEAST 16 of them had their FULL VACCINATIONS !!
As far as we know, the other ones were fully vaccinated also.
CAUGHT IN A LIE ABOUT THE UNVACCINATED !!!!

Fist Hand Experience
Trust that. After Sept. 11, I spiraled into depression. I was on those things for 5 years. They kept upping the dosage and adding new meds since they obviously didn't work.
The final straw came when they added the last med. I was struggling with other things in life and suicide was constantly on my mind at night. I just chalked it up to my problems.
I decided I didn't want to take them anymore. Nearly immediately the thoughts of suicide stopped. Those things are evil and if you have anyone on them, you should tell them to get the Hell away from them.
That's not advisable
Cutting the brain candy cold turkey is not an advisable path. It may have worked for you, but you are in the minority.
You should cut these meds out under supervision of a doctor...tell him you no longer want to take any of these pills, and he'll advise you on dosage reduction.
These pills are pumping artificial happy into your brain. If you suddenly cut off the happy, there's a real chance that you could do something irrational. A lot of studies i've read on the horrible side effects of happy pills are when a patient is missing doses, or decides on his own to cut off the pills.
Congrats on kicking the happy pills...doesn't it feel good to feel a form of pleasure that didn't come from a pillbox?
yep, right out of college I worked at Regions bank
for five years, awesome money, but blood pressure ran on average around 160/98, with medicine, one day my nose wouldn't stop bleeding it was 198/109, threw up blood, but made awesome money. Well I got on effexor , and after I stopped going to work (didn't quit, didn't get fired just never went back), I decided to stop the effexor, well I went down in the field to do some bush hogging, and got the idea in my head that it would be quicker to burn it off, it was a broom sedge field about 3-4 feet high and it was windy and dry, it didn't turn out that good after all.
If I hadn't just quit cold turkey I know I wouldn't have done something that dumb, it was the medicine or lack there of that caused me to think that way, luckily I was able to use the tractor to make some breaks and it burned itself out before it got in the woods.
Now 10 years later no blood pressure medicine no happy pills, the worst day I have now is still better than the best day at that bank.
Thank you Dr. Paul for making me act on what I already knew was right.

Hypomania
is something that is ignored and hardley ever documented. Its not all that easy to spot unless you know someone really well. Hypomania is a much lower form of mania and you are still intouch with reality but just have a very cavalier attitude about things in general and take chances you normally would not take. This sounds exactly like what your describing.
There is something else no one talks about when on antidepressants and its something called waking REM. The person seems totally awake but they are functioning in a REM state. This is what happened to my boyfriend when he was put on this shit for back pain. He thought he would just go cold turkey and holy shit did he go manic. He did not even know it was happening. I tried calling the psych RN to tell her and the bitch did nothing. It took him almost 3.5 week to normalize and let me tell you I hid all his guns. Its like you wake up one morning and there is a stranger in your house. He was doing all kinds of wierd shit.
These drugs have tragic side effects and I do believe it is the cause of these school shootings and grusome murders. It use to be years ago you would hear that someone that was depressed would go into the woods and hang themselves, or shoot themselves. Now they take ten people with them and you always hear they had Dx mental health problems and have been treated. The truth is finally coming out and is being told.
I just want to say to anyone posting that does suffer from depression. My heart goes out to you, I know its not as simple as dealing with your anger and I don't blame you for taking meds to relieve your suffering. I just wish there was a truthful answer to what is causing it and and a cure so you did not have to feel you had no choice but these drugs.
the last mths I was on it
I woke up choking my wife a couple of times, I twitched uncontrolably all night while asleep, I don't think it was the medicine it was the situaiton I had
allowed myself to be put in at work, after I stopped going, and bought some chickens I would sit in the coop with them and just chill for an hour or two, then go feed the pig, then I got to feeling better. So I decided to just stop the medicine cold turkey, that was my mistake. It is like coming off of a bad drunk, your head is ringing and everything is going by so fast, you just can't think. So anyone that wants to quit, talk to your Dr first and wean yourself off of it.
Thank you Dr. Paul for making me act on what I already knew was right.

LOL
Burning brush fields isn't quite the side effect I had in mind...but such is life.
I had 160/110 blood pressure too...I bought a 100lb punching bag for my birthday one year. It's now 130/90 (although i'm doing a number on my knuckles).
when I stopped going to the bank
that helped me the most, I just wasn't cut out to be a con man to folks that didn't know any better, occasionally I miss the money I was making, but I probably wouldn't be here today, if I didn't take the effexor, but getting myself out of that situation did me the most good. I have 2 friends that need to be medicated one on zoloft, the other on lithium, growing up they were very self destructive, but they are normal folks now.
Thank you Dr. Paul for making me act on what I already knew was right.
