California wildfires = government fraud

Deliberate ineptitude

It was only four years ago, almost to the day that we experienced the Cedar fire, which at that time was one of the biggest fires in California history, after investigation it was proven to be Arson.

Every year at this time the weather in Southern California becomes very dry and dangerous for fire.

You would think our government agencies would have learned something from it.

You would think that in four years... they would have figured out how to be prepared for this, but as you can see, the response has been totally inadequate. The numbers are staggering whether you are talking about money, homes, animals or the environment.

It's all devastating.

Did this tragedy have to happen? The answer is -- No. The technology to put out these monstrous fires already exists, but "our government" refused to use it in 2003, because it was made in Russia. The Russians designed the Ilyusian IL76 Water-Bomber plane with the capacity to carry 16,000 gallons of water, able to put out a fire the size of 10 football fields lined up end to end, in fifteen seconds.

Why did we refuse it then? Did politics and historical animosity get in the way of saving our land, our animals, and our homes?

Why was it not called in for this fire?

These are questions that the citizens should be asking their Government representatives.

With the millions

of cameras we have going, is every stretch of highway, road and parking lot under surveillance?? This would be a good area to make some good use of cameras.

Maybe the California

Maybe the California government couldn't do much about this because the gov is irresponsible and nearly bankrupt as it is.

exactly

the Gov. is a bushite

★★★thank you RON PAUL★★★

Do you live here? Apparently not.

I live 15 miles east of the Triangle Fire. Unlike Sarah Palin and Russia, I could see it from my house.

The DC-10 tanker was out and dropping slurry on both the Triangle and Sylmar fires.

The IL-76 does not meet FAA airworthiness standards. It took the DC-10 tanker two years because of the airframe modifications, and was used during a test waiver last year before entering regular service this year. The football fields you reference may be fins on flat ground, but this was not flat ground. That changes the calculus.

Water availability for these fires is tight, and the relative heat levels of the fires make a water drop become a steam drop. In both fires the heat wall ahead of the actual flames was causing spontaneous combusting of objects. There really isn't anything any firefighters can do with that. That's also why they used slurry instead of water. The DC-10 is based out of Victorville, in the high desert (Colorado Aqueduct water only).

The Santa Ana winds also made some air drops impossible. It also caused the fires to spread as fast as they did, including jumping 12-lane freeways. Some spots on the 91 look like an oversize BBQ, and Santa Ana Canyon smells like a giant ashtray. They also kick up at night, when the planes and choppers can't fly.

Also, as any firefighter who does forest fires will tell you, different techniques and equipment are used in different areas and situations. Not every fire calls for the DC-10, and not every part of a fire that could use the DC-10 will use it. Smaller Orion turboprops and helicopters can work in tighter places than the DC-10, and the ground crews in even tighter spots.

IOW, you have no idea what you are talking about.

One last thing: if you look at the fire maps, most of what burned was open space, not residential areas. While it is legal and required in CA to create fire breaks around houses, not many do it. The folks in Montecito had that problem. In the open spaces, the philosophy is to let it burn and establish a break line before it gets into residential areas. The logic of that is to burn off the fuel for the future. It works, too. The northern part of the Sylmar fire ran into a section that had burned last year, and the lack of fuel stopped it cold in the Grapevine.

No but my daughter does .

I get the scoop from her.

There is no water in California

for any airplane, no matter how big to dip from. These planes are very ineffective in dry climates because the "turnaround time" (the time it takes the plane to pick up and drop off a load of water) is too long. The fire will return to its previous strength in a relatively short amount of time.

No Water?

Did the ocean dry up or is there some reason salt water can't be used.?

Have you ever heard of...

"salting a field"...?

It can't be used unless you are ok with creating a wasteland... :)

http://en.wikipedia.org/w...

I see your point

But, me personally would rather have my stuff not burned up, and have to worry about waiting for the salt to leach away, I may not have grass for a year or so, but I would still have a house.

By the way, someone had a thread about using weed killer to write messages on the lawns of public buildings, use salt it is quicker and cheaper.

Thank you Dr. Paul for making me act on what I already knew was right.

While I see a lot of

While I see a lot of conspiracies alive and well today, this I doubt is oneof them. Where is individual responsibility? People who clear brush from the canyons below their homes, who grow watery, succulent plants densely around their homes, who have non-flammable roofs, have a big chance of surviving these fires. Our government is doing plently of evil things, but I seriously doubt that this is one of them.

Pat

BOHICA!!

The individual

Is put in jail when they fight the fires, I don't have a link, but I am sure y'all remember the father and son that saved about 10 houses ether last fall or in the spring. They were arrested, that is one reason I think there aren't more individuals doing any thing to help themselves.

Thank you Dr. Paul for making me act on what I already knew was right.

They were arrested? WTF is

They were arrested? WTF is wrong with California!! I wonder if this is a firefighters union BS issue.

Maybe the people whose homes were saved are unhappy, because they weren't able to collect the insurance. "Go throw those bastards who save my house from burning to the ground in JAIL, they are criminals I tell you!!" Bleh...

It is also against the law

to clear brush close to your home to assist in preventing these fires spreading. It's the "environmentalists" stupid.

Say what ?

brainon4u2,

Could you elaborate on this statement ?

according to this site:

http://www.flightlevel350...

" The Il-76 waterbomber is a VAP-2 1.5 hour install/removal tanking kit conversion. It has stirred a decade of controversy in the west at a time where more powerful firefighting assists are needed. The Il-76 can carry 11,000 U.S. gallons (41,600 liters) of water; three times the capacity of the Hercules C-130. "

The linked story says 16,000 gallons - a rather large discrepancy !

The converted DC-9 910 waterbomber carries 12,000 gallons.

Does anyone know what the price of an IL76 waterbomber is ? And what the operating costs are ?

Could the fires be a control

Could the fires be a control burn in an effort to stabilize real estate prices?

When they catch on fire every year

I always have the same thoughts. Why is they allow this to happen every year, if the environmentalist and the government would let folks cut roads through, they could fight the fires, but that might hurt a snail so they let the whole countryside burn every year. Why not let folks log out some of the timber? Less fuel to burn and would also make easier access to fight the fire. Also which is more environmentally friendly, to cut a few trees and use the lumber, and push through some access roads, or let the whole thing burn every year? it has become a yearly occurrence, yet they refuse to do anything different.

Thank you Dr. Paul for making me act on what I already knew was right.

This is no time for

This is no time for rational, sensible thoughts!!!
We need to focus on stopping this atrocity the people are going through.

How's that statement? Would i make a good politician in California?
The people seem dumb enough to elect anyone!
Who's the Governor?
I'm glad I'm not surrounded by that much ignorance yet.
