I'm not in favor of any bail out, but if I had been one of the CEOs of the Big Three when asked if I would for go my salary, I would have retorted "will you Mr. Fat Cat Congressman? How many stupid things have you been apart of, along with all your Pork Barrel and Lobbying Money? How about going to a part time Legislature with the appropriate pay? How much does the government Pay Out to All you People in Congress, including Pages and All the Other Behind the scenes Players? Maybe we could save some fiat money there?"

I Dont Know What I Hate More ..
Which is more dispicable; the spineless politicians that somehow couldnt think to ask any of those questions when debating the original 700 Billion authorization or the media that has spent days marching out one negative opinion after another when all they could find during the big bailout discussion were people who just KNEW that something had to be done and QUICKLY.
So whoo-hoo, the automakers go bk, and whomever or whatever is short those hundreds of millions of shares will rake in huge profits and the taxpayers will get stuck with the retirment benifit liability.
If it turned out that Goldman was the owner of that short position do you think any congress critters would question the conflict of interest in using taxpayer money to enrich people who have been shown to be greedier by a few magnitudes of order?
Nah .....
It all makes for excellent theater though.
