The (Unofficial) Daily Paul Political Compass Thread
Many forums have threads for their members to share their Political Compass results, so I thought I'd start one here. The Political Compass is pretty much the standard in-depth political test. It's a bit long, but it's worth it. Please take the test and post your results, and I'll update this OP later with the mean (average) and median results.

Apologies for my tardiness, but I've been unable to update the thread due to real life.
And a belated thanks to Michael for adding it the front page!
I won't add the following to the OP, because I don't want this to turn into a confrontational exercise, but I thought it might be interesting to look at our outliers:
Perhaps most interesting is that there aren't any results on the socially authoritarian side, where social conservatives tend to fall. So we really are a socially libertarian bunch. We have a wider range of opinion on economics, although we're right-wing as a group.

As long as they have a +ve economic and -ve social I think they belong here. Anyone with -ve economic or +ve social really needs to start reading more and listening harder to RP.

Built in Bias in Questions
As other commenters have mentioned there are biases built into the questions.
I found that most of the questions have a statist or collectivist slant.
For example many assume that government can will and should control americans private lives, property, and really stupid, morals.
Daily Paul members should know that the only legitimate purpose of government is to protect life liberty and property, and many of the assumptions built into the questions on the Political compass assume usurpation of life liberty and property.
There should be a I Don't Give a Damn choice on many of these questions for people that truly believe in liberty. Because if you agree or disagree on the premise of the question you have implicitly given a pass on the idea that government can control your life liberty or property.
The questions also avoid asking what the real underlying assumption beliefs / ideology , they manage to miss the real questions by asking surface emotional questions.
Finally the usefulness of the compass is limited even if you think the questions are fair. Just look at how all of political discourse is clumped into a small segment of the chart. ( Look at the analysis page)

Some of the questions could be taken differently depending on the situation. I felt the way I answered a question could be thought to mean something a different way then I intended but still answered my way. Some questions were ambiguous or the answer wasnt specific enough, mainly the latter. And others just eluded to a certain pretext that was not correct.

But any "test" like this is going to be an oversimplification. They weren't really "questions" though, there were just positive statements that you could agree or disagree with. The problem is that the test doesn't measure one's grounds for agreeing or disagreeing, which is what I think you were getting at.
Built-in bias
Yes, I used to think this test was an unbiased, non-partisan assessment of one's political beliefs much in the strain of the Nolan chart, but over the years I've started to think that the creators of this test are European socialists as much of their questions lean to the "left".

I used to be much further down and left, i.e. I think the first number was slightly negative, and the second was also negative but more like -9 but after many retakes I got to thinking about questions like the one about the worrying confluence of entertainment and information, i.e. "infotainment" which is an obvious jab at smut peddlers like Fox News.
The thing is, sure I agree that it is worrisome for my own family, but I don't think that government should regulate that, which is kind of what the question implies, if you ask me. I think if you're too stupid to separate the two, it's not my problem and you should suffer the consequences. It's nobody's fault but yours.
Still an interesting quiz though, and as I age I find myself getting a bit more "conservative".
I'm still almost purely libertarian on the LP "smallest political quiz", though.

Are these what the results mean?
- anyone with +5 economic or higher and -5 social or lower is on the right track
- anyone with positive economic numbers and negative social numbers is getting there
- anyone with negative economic or positive social numbers really needs to do a LOT more reading and listen a LOT more closely to what Ron Paul has been saying.

The creator works on false and misleading questions and asumptions.
