Urgent : Lakota NOT Involved With This Bank : Buyer Beware!

This is a response from the Republic of Lakota! correct spelling (Lakotah) NOT Lokota!

I suggest you contact them yourself and you will see I am telling the truth!

This bank is not a bank of Lakotah Land. Here is the response I got from Russell Means house.

I checked with Russell. We've got nothing to do with those folks.

Thanks for bringing it to our attention!
David

As Russell Means often says "May the Great Mystery continue to guide and protect the paths of you and your loved ones!"

UPDATED!

The bank website whois goes to networksolutions anonymous domain.
The republicoflakotah.com whois goes to godaddy and was signed up by Russell Means.

The bank phone number (888.784.9996) is "non published" and the only places I can find it are:
https://www.intelius.com they want $5
ussearch.com they want $14

That would put a name to the site.

"Currently in the process of establishing a Lakotah owned private Trust Bank and a Savings & Loan Institution"
http://www.russellmeansfr...
Maybe we will see a real "free" bank come from the Republic of Lakodah

A rose by any other name....

....would still be a ripoff.

Look, don't get suckered into this lakota or lakoDUH bank. In the end you'll find it to be a ripoff of your money. Do something else with your money- buy food.....stuff you really, really need.

Those of you that have money in their supposed cardboard box of a bank will find that when the Law raids the place then you'll be happy to put your money in a Fed bank if you get any of it back. Just because something or someone purports to offer a great rate of return and GET OUT OF THE SYSTEM nonsense doesn't mean they are honest.

Concerning their silver coinage- how do you know for a fact that their basement made coins are 99.999999999999% pure?

When the govt. prudently gets closes the bank.......how will you get your money back? Have any of you been to the physical location of lakotuh (who cares how it's spelled)? Have you seen the bank?

A fool believes everything.....a wise man examines everything first.

Protect yourself from the misery this bank will cause you in the end.

Any new news about Free Lakota Bank?

anybody have an update on this story?

They are not a metal company

They are selling coins not metal. If you want something that is only worth its metal value, then buy the metal.

Look in your pocket. You've "overpaid" for the metal in your pocket. Merchants accept the face value of the coins, not their metal value, for their goods.

(Current Coin) (Face Value) (Metal Value) (Metal Value vs Face Value)
1982-2008 Cent - $0.01 - $0.0032369 - 32.36%
1946-2008 Nickel - $0.05 - $0.0263224 - 52.64%
1965-2008 Dime - $0.10 - $0.0094552 - 9.45%
1965-2008 Quarter - $0.25 - $0.0236397 - 9.45%
1971-2008 Half Dollar - $0.50 - $0.0472800 - 9.45%
2000-2008 Sacagawea Dollar - $1.00 - $0.0288006 - 2.88%
2007-2008 Presidential Dollar - $1.00 - $0.0288006 - 2.88%

The value of a coin is its purchasing power. When a coin's metal value exceeds its face value, it ceases to be viable as coin for trade.

If you purchase $1.00 worth of goods with current dimes or quarters, you are giving the merchant $0.09 worth of metal for $1.00 in goods.

Lets look at what happens if you were to use pre-1964 dimes or quarters to buy $1.00 worth of goods.

1946-1964 Roosevelt Dime - $0.10 - $0.7421 - 742.19%
1932-1964 Quarter - $0.25 - $1.8554 - 742.19%

You would be giving $7.42 worth of metal for $1.00 worth of goods. At this point it makes no sense to use this coin for trade, and more sense to sell it for its metal value.

As I said in my other reply, if you are willing to use AOCS merchants this makes sense and the Lakota ICO was very attractive. If you are simply looking to hold silver as a storage of value, buy the metal.

That is fine and dandy, but they don't seem to be maketing their product in this fashion. (Assuming that they actually have a product to sell and are not simply committing fraud.)

They make it VERY clear

They make it VERY clear

Depositing with the Free Lakota Bank: for a limited time, you can convert USD to Lakota and deposit directly with the Free Lakota Bank. Simply sign up for an account and you will receive instructions on how to fund your new account. After our initial currency offering completes, deposits will only be accepted in the form of AOCS-Approved currencies. After this time, depositors will need to contact a local AOCS Officer to convert USD to Lakota, at which point the Officer will be able to accept the deposit on our behalf.

Withdrawing funds from the Free Lakota Bank: any and all withdraws from the Free Lakota Bank will be issued in AOCS-Approved currency. The currency can be shipped direct from the bank or can be issued by an AOCS Officer. What you do with the currency and the rate of exchange you receive when converting to a different currency is beyond our control. Be aware of the heavy government manipulation in the value of gold and silver.

Is G. Edward Griffin's org a scam?

Because he sells private silver pieces for $30?

http://www.realityzone.co...

(The answer is no, these are private collectibles, everyone is free to purchase them or not at the listed price. The fact that the private coins are expensive is zero indication of shadiness).

Why is it too good to be true?

What difference does it make if the bank is "of Lakotah Land"?

They never made that claim. What they did make clear is they are a part of the American Open Currency Standard. http://www.opencurrency.c...

Until someone does not get what they paid for or has problems with their accounts, I do not think it is fair to disparage this bank.

They offered an ICO for the coins, and if you bought enough you came out very nicely in metal vs face value. But to understand how this really works you need to review the Valuation Formula http://www.opencurrency.c...

The bottom line is this. If you are willing to use AOCS merchants, you get incdrebile value vs Fed Notes. If you look at this as a place to store fed notes as metal, it may not make as much sense.

BTW, if you want to have your own currency you can buy the dies for 2500 bucks and grab 1000 ounces of silver, and you too can have an AOCS approved currency. http://www.opencurrency.c...

You need to research

silver prices before you do. The are way over priced for their silver. You will always have to pay more than what the silver is worth on the open market. The coins they are offering are 1oz. 99.9% pure silver, and they are offering them for $40 per coin when you buy 1 to 5. When you buy from apmex.com you pay $14 and some change ea and when you buy from goldline.com you pay $15.51 ea. The prices at the 2 sites are regardless of how many coins you purchase. Silver is currently trading for $10.40 per oz.

Look up the coins on

Freedom Force International and Restore the Republic. The costs are similar.

If you buy in bulk, you save. They are clearly not trying to sell individual coins.

As always, each individual ought to perform their due diligence in ANY financial matters.

But these folks deserve a chance, one privately-minted coin at $40 does not write off anybody.

I was wondering about this

when I saw that Lakota was spelled differently than the Lakotah.

I questioned it

when I saw the price for 1oz silver. They want $40 per coin when purchasing 1 to 5 coins, these coins are 99.9% silver like most are so they say. I called my contact at Goldline.com and the are selling their 1oz 99.9% pure silver american eagle coins for $15.51 per coin regardless of how many coins you buy. Who knows the coins this so called bank is offering could be filled with chocolate.

In a stunning development, the Free & Independent People of Lakota announced today the introduction of the world's first non-reserve, non-fractional bank that accepts only silver and gold currencies for deposit.

"Today is a great day for us, a day that we begin to exercise our rights as a sovereign people with strength and pride," comments Canupa Gluha Mani, Tetuwan Council Judicial Member of the Cante Tenza "Strong Heart" Warrior Society. Mani's 2500 member warrior society has contracted to provide private security services for the Free Lakota Bank.

"We invite people of any creed, faith or heritage to unite in an effort to reclaim control of wealth. It is our hope that other tribal nations and American citizens recognize the importance of silver and gold as currency and decide to mirror our system of honest trade." Mani, also known as Duane Martin Sr, is a member of the delegation that declared Lakota independence on December 17th, 2007.
