Russian Analyst Predicts Decline and Breakup of USA

A leading Russian political analyst has said the economic turmoil in the United States has confirmed his long-held view that the country is heading for collapse, and will divide into separate parts.

Professor Igor Panarin said in an interview with the respected daily IZVESTIA published on Monday: "The dollar is not secured by anything. The country's foreign debt has grown like an avalanche, even though in the early 1980s there was no debt. By 1998, when I first made my prediction, it had exceeded $2 trillion. Now it is more than 11 trillion. This is a pyramid that can only collapse."

The paper said Panarin's dire predictions for the U.S. economy, initially made at an international conference in Australia 10 years ago at a time when the economy appeared strong, have been given more credence by this year's events.

When asked when the U.S. economy would collapse, Panarin said: "It is already collapsing. Due to the financial crisis, three of the largest and oldest five banks on Wall Street have already ceased to exist, and two are barely surviving. Their losses are the biggest in history. Now what we will see is a change in the regulatory system on a global financial scale: America will no longer be the world's financial regulator."

When asked who would replace the U.S. in regulating world markets, he said: "Two countries could assume this role: China, with its vast reserves, and Russia, which could play the role of a regulator in Eurasia."

Asked why he expected the U.S. to break up into separate parts, he said: "A whole range of reasons. Firstly, the financial problems in the U.S. will get worse. Millions of citizens there have lost their savings. Prices and unemployment are on the rise. General Motors and Ford are on the verge of collapse, and this means that whole cities will be left without work. Governors are already insistently demanding money from the federal center. Dissatisfaction is growing, and at the moment it is only being held back by the elections and the hope that Obama can work miracles. But by spring, it will be clear that there are no miracles."

He also cited the "vulnerable political setup", "lack of unified national laws", and "divisions among the elite, which have become clear in these crisis conditions."

He predicted that the U.S. will break up into six parts - the Pacific coast, with its growing Chinese population; the South, with its Hispanics; Texas, where independence movements are on the rise; the Atlantic coast, with its distinct and separate mentality; five of the poorer central states with their large Native American populations; and the northern states, where the influence from Canada is strong.

He even suggested that "we could claim Alaska - it was only granted on lease, after all." Panarin, 60, is a professor at the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and has authored several books on information warfare.

reading john titor lately "time travler"

similiar predictions maybe not acurate but still a good read

The important question is:

Who get's the nukes?

theoretically though, these new countries could serve as a way to default on debt.

The guys predictions of break up based on rase is absurd.

Russia still has much to learn about the socio-cultural make up of America. American's still outnumber every pocket of unassimilated groups. No way that break up happens. If there are any break ups, it will be done by freedom loving patriots fed up with federal abuses of power.

I agree

I think this is very probable as some states are more tightly controlled by neocons than others so when it gets bad some will choose to leave rather than subcome to the tyranical rule of the neos. It will be a breaking point, that is when sides will be chosen and the real conflict will begin.

I do not agree with the form and fasion of the break up he invisions.
But a break up I think is very possible and at this time I think it would in the long run be a very good thing as it would wake up many who are still blind to the obvious. Till the TRUE americans took back our country one state at a time and and put in place laws and severe punishments for any who would ever seek to break the core rights with the bill of rights and the constitution.

Notice the Last Sentence

Notice the last sentence in the article linked to the Drudge front page.

"Panarin, 60, is a professor at the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and has authored several books on information warfare."

So, we have a self-described teacher of information warfare engaging in information warfare, and some of you take his propaganda seriously.

Amazing!

Including Drudge himself

engaging in infowar. Begs the question, who's really the enemy here?

Rick Maybury recommended a breakup like this

back in the early 1980's for defensive reasons. He said the US foreign policy had made too many enemies and Islamic holy warriors armed with suitcase nukes were bound to attack the US. The best way of avoiding this fate would be to secede from the US.

Drudge not only stole that in a cut-and-paste job

But he omitted two very important things from it:

"a closer look reveals that besides mr. drudge not giving any credit whatsoever to the ria novosti website, he left out a couple of very important paragraphs from the article:

On the fate of the U.S. dollar, he said: "In 2006 a secret agreement was reached between Canada, Mexico and the U.S. on a common Amero currency as a new monetary unit. This could signal preparations to replace the dollar. The one-hundred dollar bills that have flooded the world could be simply frozen. Under the pretext, let's say, that terrorists are forging them and they need to be checked."

When asked how Russia should react to his vision of the future, Panarin said: "Develop the ruble as a regional currency. Create a fully functioning oil exchange, trading in rubles... We must break the strings tying us to the financial Titanic, which in my view will soon sink."

this couldnt have been a simple mistake on mr. drudge's part because he included the last sentence from the ria novosti article in his copy and paste job.

so, what is mr. drudge really up to by deceptively promoting a russian analysts prediction about the breakup of the usa while at the same time suppressing any mention of the amero currency and the north american union as well as the original articles origin?"

What a tool. Thanks Mike Rivero for posting that.

Breakup sounds reasonable. T3h country is too big.

Actually I predicted this too, more 10 years ago. The nation is too different to stay together. Clinton was terrified that Quebec would secede and start a secessionist movement here.

God how the bankers must love stories like this...

Forboding tales leading to wars with Russia...

Or anyone else for that matter.

And huge wartime profits for the bankers of the Federal Reserve.

This guy doesn't know crap about the U.S.

Seceding isn't even part of the public debate. At all. Sorry dude, we're not like Russia. Those Russia countries that became independent did because they were sick of seeing their friends being sent off to prison camps every other day. And they felt that way for a long time. It is more likely that people will flee the country than secede and form their own country. We're a bunch of spoiled rich people.

- Palin and her husband were

- Palin and her husband were supposedly deeply involved in an organization that was focused on Alaska seceding from the U.S.

- I believe it was Montana that released statements to the effect of considering secession, due to breach of contract, if the Supreme Court ruled for the plaintiff in the 2nd Amendment D.C. case this past summer.

- There supposedly a secessionist movement in Vermont, if I'm not mistaken. It's either Vermont or another state close to it in the N.E.

There's probably more, but do you actually truly believe that it would be permitted to publicize these issues as part of the "public debate"?

Thank you for mentioning the

Thank you for mentioning the topic of secession, all of you. This will need to be a major hub for a public debate on this question. There is this part of a book called Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance that mentions "chataquas" and how they were once a major part of public dialogue. People from around the area would gather under these tents and talk about important matters; e.g., life, living, etc.- that i think these could be brought back in vogue again if as neighbors we simply talked to each other. I'm going back to n.w. pennsylvania next week thank god; this place in austin has a culture which is too rooted in evangelicalism and frankly too young and evil in order to spur any movement towards secession. No offence to those who live there. It is just that places like Vermont, Alaska, Montana, and rural pennsylvania for that matter allow a certain neighborliness amongst ourselves, where it is snowing so much we all have a common bond with one another instead of a darwinian free for all like hollywood which cuts the individual off from his neighbor and society at large. I believe this forum is a perfect avenue if some of us would like to draft up a Ron Paul-esque like constitution and statement.... a declaration of principles and explanation at where we would go from here as our own fledgling nations, hopefully breaking up into 10 or 20 provinces, etc. & I do believe people from Quebec could with reason adapt a Ron Paul like government if people in the northern U.S. were willing to do the same. it's a matter of methodically explaining one's own reasoning behind a new guide book, like a small book, and not being so sure about everything, because i don't have all the answers, an example would be about the public school situation and we would have to abolish property tax and suffer for a year or two until the kids could get on their feet and find another way into getting into college. And people should be reminded of how it once was as the students had their own gardens on campus and during the great depression the students couldn't afford college but the people from the neighboring farms took them in and gave them a job and so they (the students) were still able to make ends meet and go to school. It is that brotherhood which i think could be possible once again in the northern climates. - especially the rural places. And of course catholic and protestant churches have always had a record in the past of becoming the first donors to a poor kid's education. the state could be phased out in the responsibility of education. and i think this is one example of many, but i'm not sure how it would all happen, but something needs to change really soon. The internet will have to be the forum for this discussion.... and trevor lyman &co. all of you really, would be very wonderful to add all of your input and circulate a petition for secession. i've been a bit lazy, but some people in my village wanted me to draft something up, and we thought with 100,000 signatures we'd feel enobled to secede (sic) from the union

Well, actually, seceeding IS part of the public debate.

But it's a very SMALL part.

At least it's a small part currently. If we end up in "The Greater Depression" all bets might be off. Which is what he's talking about.

-Lawrence Welk (as satirized by Stan Freeberg.)

in russia, government secedes you!

Yeah if this guy spent even one day in different cities in the US he would realized that the population is waay too culturally homogenized to break up in the way that he thinks. Being able to drive from New York to California without a passport is ingrained into our cultural identity; that's a good thing. On the other hand we are already used to the states having a certain level of autonomy -- so what is more likely is that power will catastrophically devolve to the states as the federal government recieves a vote of "no confidence" and a new constitutional convention held.

Basically I think he's mapping self-conscientious issues about his motherland onto the US. I mean, honestly, the difference between a New Yorker and an Angelino is that an Angelino wears a tee shirt to work (and rolls in at 10:00 am), refers to highways as "the ___", and knows what a horchata is (but still mispronounces it).

Whether or not that convention bestows more or less power in the hands of the USA vs the states is another question.

Alaska LEASED?

Lease documents, please?

If so, then Russia got screwed on that deal, big time!

And since when is Izvestia "respected"???

This is flawed at best. This

This is flawed at best. This analyst obviously doesn't understand the demographics in the US. He's basically making off-the-cuff predictions, unless he's predicting that this will happen in 2060 or something. America is 79.96% Caucasian. His assumption is that there will be basically a race divide which wouldn't work out well under the current demographics. If he would have discussed a political divide then he might have my attention....

As long as the U.S. remains

As long as the U.S. remains focused on freedom then we will not have these race based secession issues. The racial divides will develop when/if freedoms begin to become lost.
