2010

We need a strategy to win elections for true patriots of the limited constitutional republic.

Starting NOW would never hurt.

Any ideas?

Anyone planning on running or know of folks who are?

Be the Miracle!

We Need to cheat. Legally

I say since the socialist are running in the republican and democrat parties we should have our liberty minded people run as republican and democrats in the primaries. Wouldnt it be something if they both won the primaries then whoever wins we win. Remember Bob Conley won the democrat primary in S.C. it is unfortianate that whoever counted the vote already figured out what percentage of the vote he was going to get.

Field candidates in both

Field candidates in both parties. Save the POTUS.

We have a good start

oops.

Colorado 6th District

I want to run for U.S. Congress in Colorado's 6th congressional district. The incumbent will be the former Secretary of State Mike Coffman who is a Republican. He just beat a Democrat handily 60% to 40%. Both candidates supported the war on terror. I want to run as an independent as having to run as a republicrat makes me sick to my stomach. I should have ran this year but I have never ran for any type of public office before. I worked for the federal government in the recent past but never held any type of political position. I'm planning on starting an internet radio show here soon.

Mike Coffman raised 1.2 + million dollars. Hank Eng raised 231,00 + dollars. I might run for city council or state legislature instead. My platform would be the Constitution. If I raised $200,000 - $300,000 at least my name might get out and I might have a chance. If I run as an independent I know I will be rail roaded and ignored. I would announce my candidacy in January or February of 2009. I did run for delegate at the Caucus level in February and was one vote shy of a 3 way tie for 2 delegate positions so I have had some exposure in my precinct to people that would be my constituents. Any comments, encouragements, and critical responses would be greatly appreciated.

awesome

you sound like a very smart, well-spoken guy. good for you for considering a run. you will know a whole lot more after doing it, then yo did before doing it. i would advise you start with city council first. for some reason independants have a better shot at city council then they do with major positions. if you don't like that idea, then i would recommend running republican. you can't beat them at their own two-party game that was specifically designed to keep you out. If you are a conservative, then run Republican. Soon, with more people like yourself, then "Republican" will become popular again

Running for governor?

I got an idea that's something akin to cliff diving into a dry ocean.
I wouldn't mind wouldn't running for Governor for my State of Oregon. Except I wouldn't know where the hell to begin with.

I have not held any public office, and I'm just barely finding out about my town public meetings.

I recognize the principles...
"If you have a right to anything, then don't ask permission to do it."
"You are free to do anything so long as you do not do harm towards other, or steel from others." (*Steal, as a broad concept)
"Besides, what's a governor? A Yes-Man to the legislatures."

Governor steps down in 2011.

Produce for yourself your

Produce for yourself your own declaration of independence, a statement of principle, and a platform. Write an essay on the Bill of Rights, the Constitution, the Federalist papers etc etc... and post them online with your statement of intent to run.

"Moreover, as America becomes an increasingly multicultural society, it may find it more difficult to fashion a consensus on foreign policy issues, except in the circumstances of a truly massive and widely perceived direct external threat."

I am thinking of running for 2010

for Congress - Alabama 5th district. Not really sure where to start - I've never run for public office before. Any advice would be appreciated! My views tend to be libertarian - but in this part of the country it seems like the minute you tell people you're libertarian they wonder why you're not wearing a tin-foil hat or something. I'm thinking the thing to do is run independent of any parties, just plainly state my stance on the issues.

We had two REALLY poor choices this year, a Clinton-style dem versus a Bush-style rep. VERY nasty contest - they held no punches. The dem won, but the cool thing was that the margin was very tight - just a few thousand votes. And there were 11,000 write-ins, so that would have swung the election. So maybe that sent a message to the party leadership, who knows. I got 4 write-ins (me and a guy that I work with, plus his wife and mother-in-law).

Research

Fortune Favors the Bold

find info about your area, its political history, the party, etc. If you're serious about campaigning, start NOW.

That it does

one of my favorite sayings.

Run as a conservative Republican.

Liberals run as conservative Republicans. They get away with it. Look at Bush, Cheney, McCain, Romney, Huckaberry, Guiliani, etc.

Now is the time to JUMP-START the campaigns for 2010 and 2012.
We didn't lose. The ignorant lost. We know what has happened. Personally I think John McCain Has been used as a patsy. To bring about an Obama administration.

I thought about running GOP

but I feel like I need to see the party make at least an attempt to return to some values I can believe in. Limited government, etc. I've been a Republican all my life until this election. I know it's easier to win with GOP backing, but I don't want to win if it means being a sell-out. Bottom line: I would rather run as an indep unless the GOP pulls its head out of its rectal cavity.

Hopefully the resounding defeat this year has sent sufficiently large shock waves through the party leadership, and as a result we'll see the party re-align itself with its old-school roots. Limited government, fiscal responsibility, free markets, speak-softly-carry-a-big-stick foreign policy. If so, then I'll be proud to call myself a Republican again.

If anyone on here runs for office

Make sure you print a lot of t shirts and sweatshirts that say "I am not for sale!" and wear them to every public speaking you do. Forget the suit and tie, they just show you are ready to be paid off. Can you imagine if Ron Paul had campaigned everywhere and showed up on T.V. with a shirt that said " I am not for sale!" I think it would of got a lot of press and would have made a huge impact.

I'm going to when I get settled.

Get involved in the GOP and talk to people, make friends, and see what happens. That is the only way to influence people for the better is face to face in a social setting and the party parlamentary atmosphere does that. I'm busy and have health issues so I doubt I'd want a real job like congress or having to wear a monkey suit.

Its Time to Mellow. Obama won. We are Republicans ! They just don't realize they are Rhino's. They need to be infected with a liberty virus.

A covert liberty thought virus that destroys the desire for domination and releases a love of what America stands for ... Liberty !

plan well in advance to run for office

and hustle to prove why our ideas are better than big government programs and central planning...

hustle to get an e-mail list, call talk radio often, especially local talk radio.

i'm running for state rep, and it won't be republican or democrat, if you disagree, fine.

Well the first thing you

Well the first thing you need to do is take a deep breath and exhale all that bad energy before I tell you it doesn't matter. Not in the traditional sense. I think it is abundantly clear the establishment will go way out of it's way to torpedo any outsiders trying to break in. Taking over a party is unrealistic in most cases and at the end of the day all that really matters is who counts the votes.

Now, that being said I have to say not all is lost. What a campaign, any campaign does for a person is it allows that person to use the campaign as a forum to share ideas and spread a message. Of course we know the establishment tactics so you can't play around. You have to hit them harder and harder each and every time you're blessed with an opportunity. This opportunity is what we need to increase. Trying to force more opportunity for a candidate is hard because a candidate can only make so many appearances at so many town halls.

However, if more people ran. If every incumbent were challenged and could be debated on many many fronts. Then that would increase our opportunity to speak out. The incumbents go to work everyday find all new ways the screw us. So really your campaign could start anytime. Start collecting the dirt on your opponent and start putting together your platform. Get yourself a little website and pledge to run if you get enough donations to cover the filing fees.

Even if you don't really wanna run or know you really won't. Setting this up would be a good practice for you and a good model for others to emulate. In the process you may also find someone better to run in your stead. Whatever the case may be setting up and having a working campaign infrastructure ready to go that has everything but a campaign and a candidate. Will make everything much better come crunch time.

As soon as the precinct caucus season hits we need to be active and driving the issues and get people leaning our way to start with.

And get into as many PCO positions as possible. These are auto-delegate appointments. Many PCO slots are open as an apathetic people that doesn't participate in the process leaves these gatekeeper positions uncontested more often than you might think.

Best case is to have all the PCO slots. Next is to have as many PCOs in as many districts as possible. Plus, having at least one precinct captain for every precinct in the country and dominating every uncontested precinct in the country.

"Moreover, as America becomes an increasingly multicultural society, it may find it more difficult to fashion a consensus on foreign policy issues, except in the circumstances of a truly massive and widely perceived direct external threat."

Really Good Idea..

We need to stop

We need to stop using Ron Paul in every other sentence. It simply is not productive. If we can't make a blog post or discuss sound money without praising Ron Paul then we are going to lose half our audience.

Seeing all these posts all over the internet reminds me of how some Bible thumpers can't seem to form an argument without quoting from the Bible.

Let stick to the message. Don't let anybody know if you are a Republican. Keep them guessing.

at the same time, don't try to hide the fact that you might have been involved in meetups and such, as eventually some of these people might be volunteering for you.

Hey now, if you don't back

Hey now, if you don't back up and realize him for the god he is i don't feel i can continue hearing myself speak. He is GOD, end of story, when he dies the ones around me will say "Yet he still lives." As for the bible, burn it. We Pennsylvanians will always worship him. And years afterwards we can have sects and schisms and fight each other over how to worship him. pour l'avenir

Don't forget 2009

Out of touch city councils love to hide their re-election bids in off-election years. Just after the New Year, visit your board of elections and get details about running to replace the tyrants installing cameras and other actions offensive to liberty in your town.

Even if one vote doesn't make a difference on the outcome of a council vote, so many of these tyrannical votes go over unanimously and, for the sake of class, could someone please just vote no?

We could start by checking this out.....

i agree

next to joining your local county central committee, i think this is a great first step also

Local Following

Here where I am...there are DeeJays that have a huge following
The Rise Guys (check out their message board!!)..and also the radio jocks at 107.9 The Link/

They host a lot of events for chairty..where people who want to run for office can go..and get to meet a lot of people and get a mention for free on the air if the cards are played right...have MySpace pages..invite local people on their shows for a chat.

Its a good way to start..and reaches the people.

Freedom is another way to God...A corrupt government is a straight way to hell.

I want to run, i'm considering the options and what looks doable

We'll see. Whatever the crazy people of MD will allow me to serve as, I guess.

Aku Soku Zan

I am reminded of a video that somebody here linked

http://www.youtube.com/wa...

It's a 5 minute animated video over a recorded speech from Tommy Douglas

I highly recommend watching it before continuing. I'll wait.

Ok, now that we're on the same page

We agree that we need to elect people, not politicians!

Now. There are only two types of people that win elections in this system:

1) Politicians
2) Famous people

Think about this. California only elects two types of people: Democrats and Actors. Reagan was an Actor and Schwarzenegger was an actor. Similarly, wrestling-star Ventura became the government of Minnesota. (In his book, Don't Start the Revolution Without me, he talks about how the spooks showed up in his new office inquiring about how he beat the system.) Heck, even right now it looks like Al Franken could pull out an upset, pending a long court battle.

But you see. This is what they used on us. This is how we got stuck with Arnie. We are totally oblivious to important matters. All we see is fame. So let's use that to our advantage

What famous person has the qualities that we are looking for? Clint Eastwood would be good. I kind of like Chuck Norris. Anybody else come to mind?

You know I watched

You know I watched a Milton Friedman video and there were clips of Arnold talking about Ayn Rand. Look at how far he has fallen.

"It is the responsibility of the patriot to protect his country from its government."

— Thomas Paine

hmmm....

Can't trust a famous person you have never met, ESPECIALLY if they are in the "business."
So how about YOU?

Or do you know any honest people willing to take on the task?

We can't rely on famous people, shed that apathy and run for yourself!

well

the other method is to actually become a politician, which i think is the idea that most people here are supporting. if not you, yourself, then to at least become active in the local level and work to support candidats that are in alignment with liberty. but this is dangerous because power corrupts and it takes longer.

what do you think about oprah winfrey?

Oprah Winfrey?

are you high on crack?

the point is that she's not a politician

and i don't mean for president. I mean, for Governor.

If the choice would be politician A or Oprah Winfrey, then who would pick another politician?

Who would you say is a good famous person to run?

three points

three points:

- You can't beat them within their own system. Running third-party is an attempt to beat them at their own game. It's like the move the Laberynth. You can't get to David Bowie by walking through the maze that he created to keep you out. You have to do what he did, or go arond it entirely. This brings up the next point:

- Use a method that has already demonstrated works.. The White House is currently occupied by fake Christians and very fake Republicans. They pretended to be good. They pretended to be Republican. It worked. People were fooled. Let's do what they did. It's a working model. Half of the country is so caught up in the two-party system that we are even willing to fight to protect our team, no matter what the politicians are doing.

Lastly:

- Ditch the polorazation We are all on the same team. The divide exists between the people and the government. It doesn't exist between the left v right. In fact there is no left v right. That's just an illusion. It would be like putting on the blond haired blue eyed citizens on one side and all the brown-harned brown-eyed people on the other. Who cares if you have blue eyes? Who cares if you are liberal on the issues? What matters are the fundamentals. Most Americans want to get out of the war. Most Americans want to go back to the Constitution. Most Americans know we are on the wrong track. Gay marriage, abortion, immigration, and all that other crap that we fight about. They call those subjects "wedge" issues for a reason. They use them to control us into stupid arguments where nothing gets done. We are like the Plaintiff and the Defendants, who fight over stupid things, but the Lawyers always win.

Good Show!

You've said a mouthful and we need to take your words to heart and stay focused.

I couldn't have said it

I couldn't have said it better.

Future Elections

I think that chipping away at the offices is a great strategy no matter if 2010 is viewed as to early or not. One thing that I would beg for people to consider is name recognition. Start putting up signs with liberty candidate names now. It does not have to refer to the office position that is being sought but merely something as simple as "So and So wishes to talk with you about your local issues." Or getting involved with schools, churches, local television stations, etc...

NAME RECOGNITION IS KEY

Broadcast and talk.

I would like to run...

I would like to run as a state rep. here in PA. I'm from the 4th district and my congressman keeps on giving my money to all kinds of private industries. Enough is enough. I've been reading up on economics and government in general. When I think I'm ready, I will get ahold of Ron Paul's Liberty PAC and the C4L for some direction and guidance. Well, that is if we aren't plunged into martial law by then...

Do the work and become a precinct leader. I started a website here:

that I've done delaware county in Pennsylvania (click on the area to see what I've done). A while ago I sent out a spreadsheet for people to fill out for all the elected officials but no one filled anything out.

So, if you care about changing your county then fill in who is in the electable positions and then take out traitors. I started with my county. If anyone else wants to get this done in their own area then let me know.

http://killfiat.blogspot....

Unfortunately I think 2010 is too ambitious.

What's needed RIGHT now is a couple of rich benefactors who can fund some well done commercials that focus on Message. In other words, the public has to hear a new language, be sold on some talking points, and have one message sold several years in a row.

That's how it works with the public, you have to hammer for a while and eventually people vote for it just to shut it up. So after about 5 years of message hammering, the candidates can come forward and actually run a campaign that repeats the message the public has been pre-indoctrinated with.

BUT. This takes careful long term strategy planning, and funding. Something the "true patriots" find difficult. (Insert comment about cat-herding libertarians).

http://www.cafepress.com/...

I read that Clint Eastwood

I read that Clint Eastwood just quitted acting and will only be a producer. He's a libertarian. He was mayor of a small Californian county.

You are right

but most want just to take some time and enjoy Thanksgiving.

quiltingsando

I was going to take a break from politics until the first of the year....but here I am at the beauty shop (21/2 hours later)....talking about the fed, RP, the IRS, America F2 F,

I ended up going home and returning with F2F DVDs, pocket constitutions, and Chuck Baldwin flyers. They were all young woman in their 20's. I seem to get young people's attention when I talk about Social Security (lack of) for their generation and admitting that our generation (hippies turned yuppies) dropped the ball and that's why things got so out of hand. It seems to make them open to hear what this middle- aged person has to say. (Just my personal experience here in WI.).

I spent 2 more hours in Best Buy talking to a young girl in high school about the state of our country. She loves Obama and was in Chicago for his post election speech. She even complimented McCain on his speech. None of them deny Obama is a socialist...they said socialism is good, lots of countries are doing great with it. Scary. I don't get offended,(they know I don't agree), but I complement them for getting involved and being informed voters, especially at such a young age. I have faith they will learn the truth, if they are involved and get a few years experience under their belts.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone on the DP.

I'm encouraged...

That the young people you're talking to realize it's socialism. At least they're paying attention. The young people I've been talking to don't really understand what socialism / imperialism / corporatism are. They think calling Obama Socialistic is just mean-spirited.

Your friends are right about the fact that it does seem to be the latest trend in Euro-government. What I like about Europe is that the socialists are not afraid to call themselves socialist - over here the word has too many negative connotations so the buggers stay in the closet and just call themselves liberal. I've only heard of one self-described Socialist in the Senate - but God knows there are more than that.

If the Socialists would just be honest about their message, then we could actually debate the ideologies.

Anyway, great to hear that the young people are so energized in WI.
