Our Poor Soldiers - 1 in 3 Homeless Men is a Veteran
They trust, fight for and love their country. If and when they come home they will have combat related problems. The economy and the job market will be another ongoing battle that many won't be able to overcome, so many end up homeless.

The Troops Could be Our Greatest Allies
Yes. Lets not belittle one of our potentially greatest allies. The US military love this country and are willing to put their lives on the line for it. They are our greatest potential support in the campaign for liberty. They have already proven it by enlisting and swearing to uphold the constitution with their lives. Many of them don't understand the dire problem we have with domestic enemies to our freedom. But is that really any different from most people we know or even ourselves at one point in time.
Instead of saying they should know better, why not volunteer at a veterans facility and get to know them and spread the message. Lets do something about it instead of putting them down and saying they should know better. When they come on our side, we will be many times stronger as a movement for it.
We are in a fight, after all, for liberty. But it is a philosophical battle. Our biggest battle is fighting to help people understand freedom and believe in it again.
agreed iceburg
but i dont think we should feel obligated to saying that we support the military when they take an oath to uphold the constition and dont even bother to read it , for if they had they would realize who the true enemies of the state are

Voluntary Slavery
Joining the military is voluntary slavery. I would never join the military because you are signing a slavery contract. Unfortunately, it is a contract like any other contract. You signed it thus you agree to its terms. What is disgusting is how the government takes advantage of people who either do not read the contents of the contract or are so desperate they are willing to risk limb and life. I'm a bigger proponent of a citizen militia. If we ever needed to defend this country from invasion a citizen militia would step up. Plus you don't have to sign some piece of shit contract and serve in unconstitutional wars.
I have been insulted by family members for stating I would never join the military and fight in a war. Little did they know at the time I'm a huge proponent of citizen militias. I would be willing to fight a foreign invader or fight for freedom against our tyrranical government. I will not fight in an unconstitutional war and especially not one based on lies. I have a right to want to live. I have a right to decide how I want to survive and what battles to join. Call me selfish or call me unpatriotic but that is what freedom is all about. I am free to decide when and where to risk my life.
I support the troops only in the sense it is disgusting how the government treats them after they have served and even while they serve. On the same token it is there decision to not read the "writing" and there decision to fight in unconstitutional wars to give the elite "tools" for there selfish objectives.

As a service member I
As a service member I respect your statement completely. I joined before opening my eyes to the true ideals of liberty and freedom. My eyes has been opened and I can't shut them anymore. I would opt out of all unconstitutional wars if I could :)
The one thing I always never understood are those that support freedoms and liberties only when it benefited them. I had an argument with a fellow soldier who at first appeared to be inline with the ideals of liberty but when the argument of not being able to smoke outdoors or in your own business (CA) he said he agreed with that law banning smoking as he was not a smoker. I myself am not a smoker but I do not believe my personal choices should regulate others.
That's what a lot of people need to understand in America. It's not about your freedom but freedom as a whole. You can't support one (Pro 2nd Amendment) but then fight against another (Gay marriage). I'm not gay but I don't see why they can't show their commitment to one another. If you support liberty, you must support it through and through. You cannot pick and choose what suits you and your needs!
"...mankind are more disposed to suffer [...] than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. [...] It is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security."
Impressive, you've come such a distance
and now know the true fight is for universal peace among all people, not just between nations.
Thats is why we are working for a world that is ruled by
peace.
The work we are doing here is about helping them.
They need us to tell the truth, expose the people behind war and bring them home.
It is what we are doing.
That is why when people say they are "leaving the movement" or that Ron Paul will never win I go crazy because the soldiers and sailors face death every day and we can bring them home.
How could you turn you back on them?
Bad decisions (ie. joining the war machine) have consequences...
Balderdash.
I think this article by Jacob Hornberger proves otherwise.
Good point
but, this doesn't mean young, impressionable human beings are aware of or complicit in the complexity and sinsiter goals of war profiteering.
That is true
Some have definitely been duped. But there is also others that have gone in "eyes open".
Ie. the people that we're in the 1st Gulf War who enlisted to serve in the Iraq/Afghanistan wars.
What I am getting at is that we shouldn't be supporting the troops. Unless of course they come clean and see the errors of their ways.
Remember, without troops eagerly volunteering, these delusional politicians would find it very very difficult to fight their wars.
edit: ignore my 'balderdash' comment in my previous post. I responded in haste! That is correct that they fight for and love their country.
What I had meant to say (and which I didn't state at all clearly ;-)) was that it is balderdash that they defend our freedoms. I think Hornberger blows that myth apart.
I talk to soldiers often and...
alot of these soldiers are getting out of the service BECAUSE...they've lost too much being in it. So I disagree, we should support them, because as we all know, influence especially for the cause of freedom, is contagious. I know more and more Soldiers that are getting out after three tours of being in Iraq and don't feel bad about it at all. The ones that can mentally, are getting a head start on their education and are planning for when they enter the civilian world. Most aren't as naive as you think...or as controllable as you think. And i've even had some say they no longer want to be in the service because of the politics involved. But I also have found that when you're sitting around casually and bring up things like the elections, privacy infringement, bailouts etc. They are in agreement with the likes of fellow constitutional loving Americans like ourselves. Remember....Ron Paul got the majority of the Active Duty vote. So I think it would be a mistake to not be open to supporting them, they need to hear differing views of the world they're fighting in.
This is all so
Disillusioning. Did I donate to a candidate who's followers have such utter disdain for the military? Did my fellow military members back the wrong guy with donations? We should have sent all of our money to McCain if down the road we would be turned on as the evil bad guys who hate the Constitution. Some people just really hate us I guess. Oh well. I think the point behind our donating to Ron Paul was to get us OUT of endless wars not to continue them.
If this movement is really about freedom then is it not prudent to allow the freedom of choice to join or not to join without blow back from fellow freedom lovers? Why are we fighting our own here? Some peoples kids.
I support a sensible use of
I support a sensible use of the military. What we have right now is not sensible.
................
Truther?
No, sir!
I also thought many sent to Iraq originally
intended just to serve here at home as members of National Guard units.
I doubt they ever imagined they'd be sent off to an undeclared far-off war of conquest -- nor did they realize they'd be slaves to the system, sent back for additional tours of duty with no recourse, no compassion for home-based jobs and families destroyed, not to mention severe harm to their minds and bodies.
Imagine if they (deployed reservists) owned businesses
As many of them do. They are used to making good money and a little extra each month for playing army one weekend. Then they get depolyed and their family's lifestyle goes in the crapper and the guy has nothing to return to. I'm sure this happens a lot.
I had to stop the reserves because the ATs were killing me financially.
Alot of them
have to join the military to get money for college or to have a roof over their head and food in their belly.
Yes help them out when you can also there's some great organizations out there that help out with other things like utilities, emergency cash etc.
Unmet Needs is a great one.

Operation Homefront

This is also another good one to locate resources for vets.
http://www.militaryonesou...
But yes, help them out when you can either in person or through donations, ALOT of it is PTSD related and some can't hold down jobs because of he PTSD, and some compound the problem with alcohol and drugs. Many can't even sleep at night because of the nightmares and therefore drink to go to sleep. The military is finally doing more to help with this problem, but only recently. From 2002-2007, all these vets kind of got discharged and put out on the streets and were told "see ya, thanks for your service" and that was it. They weren't followed by programs that are available now. But they are finally realizing that medications aren't the only things that help with PTSD. They are finally getting into holistic medicine like acupuncture, reiki, meditation, massage etc. I couldn't believe it when i found out this past year. And it's making a big difference for some soldiers that have some anger management and severe PTSD related issues. It's about damn time they started to realize shoving pills down their throat is not the best answer!

Yea, But
I in no way shape or form am intending to disrespect the fine Americans that are in our armed forces, but this is a real indicator of the pool of people sucked into (targeted by the) military service.
Most of my buds that joined the service had few options - but that was toward the end of the draft era.
Ron Paul - Hope for America
thank you for posting this really sad video
to help us be even more aware of the casualties and injustice of war. We must continue supporting Iraq Veterans Against the War in their good work for all veterans and for peace.
They are abandoned
My sister's ex-husband was in the first gulf war. She had to leave him because of his problems when he returned. She still lives near him, he was lucky enough to receive disability, but cannot do things like keep the electric bill paid. She has to be a caregiver, and he is one of the lucky ones. If it were not for the disability payments and her help, he would probably just die in the street.
Before this happened he was a great guy and a lot of fun.

So this means 1 in 3 homeless sitting by the road begging
Are Veterans! I saw a Gulf War Vet asking for food, a sleeping bag and a tent the other day. I took him 2 double hamburgers and a cup of coffee, and some dollars, and since then I have felt guilty I didn't go buy a sleeping bag and a tent for him.
I am thinking I need to have a sack of items ready in my rig for just such an occasion.
Just think of how embarrassing it must be for them to have to BEG to eat! I know some of them have drug or alcohol problems, but it is a way to deal with the PTSD.
I am thinking a sack with a tarp, a warm blanket or poncho, some bottled water, food, some warm gloves and a scarf, a pocket constitution and a paperback book. Any other suggestions? I have a few of the eco friendly grocery bags that would be just right to fill.
bless you
Imagine if everyone bought some food for the homeless sometimes..

Just like we had DVDs for delegates
we need to have DVDs for veterans.
There should be a massive effort to reach out to these men and women in the field. Get them the info, and have a list of all the CFR,Tri Lateral, Bildeberg,Congress, and Senate,as well as media hacks that are responsible for this mess.
We need to sick our military on the corrupt Govt. that led them into harms way based on a lie.
The Govt. needs to fear the people once again. We are waaay past playing nice.
good idea...
and maybe distribute these to the current troops in the field to let them know what the Pentagon really thinks of them. They are just cannon fodder for the international bankers and they have no use for them after they get what they want, ie: pipelines, world banks, etc...whatever the agenda is at the time. If you haven't read it, Confessions of an Economic Hitman, you will know that if bribery and diplomatic pressure doesn't work, then they send in the paid assassins and troops.
Soon they (Obama) will be implementing the draft because they need to replenish the troops and dont have enough to sustain their crazy wars. Maybe that will finally convince those loyal wardrum beating Republicans when their children get drafted to re-think their positions.
Spread the TRUTH!
Thanks, nice name 8)
I am tired of waiting to see what is going to happen next. I can no longer sit by and watch this once Great Nation crumble around us.
Who do we reach out to? The sheeple that have been duped into voting for Obombya,or the brave men and women that love this country so much they are willing to lay their lives on the line.
This RPR was once great. The momentum, and creativity that was generated was incredible. Now we are a fractured movement, going in many different directions, talking about trivial things that have nothing to do with restoring our Constitutional Govt. ( I have been guilty of this as well.)
We must now regain that momentum and focus our energy where it matters the most. I will be composing a post called possible solutions, I hope you, and others will join in the discussion, and hopefully it will lead to a historic effort.
The biggest problem
the veterans have is they TRUSTED the government. If you look back in history look how they treated the WWI and WWII vets. That was awful also. I saw a video on Youtube how they were treated when they went to Washington. Hope they find some turkey today.
Our government
just turns their heads, disgusting. No veteran should ever be homeless. Period.
Yes, the Govt turns their heads---but we shouldn't!
This is an opportunity to extend a helping hand! If we all had a sack of food, warm clothes, etc. ready to hand to them, it would help a bit.
It's even more disgusting
It's even more disgusting when the wars they have been sent to fight in haven't even been declared, it puts them in an awkward position.
Amen.
Amen.
