Don't tase me, Bro!

Poor gal. If only she had seen the 'don't tase me, bro' citizen training video. This would have never happened.

Now she is the newest member in one of the fastest growing groups in America: the Unjustly Tased Americans Caught on Electronic Medium, or UTACEME for short.

Very harsh

Was there a threat made to someone's life or safety? It really makes no sense to taser someone simply for refusing to move themselves.

They sold this technology as a non-lethal alternative to a firearm...and it should be treated as such. Usage of a taser needs to have the same criteria as a firearm.

I'm as cold hearted as anyone here, but this is a problem that's getting worse. I've actually been hit with a taser (by choice) and I can tell you, it's frighteningly painful and scary.

especially when she's 54

especially when she's 54 years old... and what maybe 100lbs? my understanding also is that she was in the right seat.. someone was sitting in her seat.. her husband was sitting next to her!

Good grief! If you are

Good grief! If you are convicted of a crime, the Constitution protects you from "cruel and unusual" punishment. Shouldn't people who have not been convicted of a crime be afforded the same protection?

Pat

BOHICA!!

that is a good

that is a good question!

What I want to see

I want to see videos of patriotic men and women
stepping up and challenging activity like this!
Videos like this simply perpetuate this behavior
if we don't respond.

Idiots

The idiot "left" is going to say she should not have gotten loud, just go along. They know what there doing.
The idiot "right" is going to say that loud mouth old witch was asking for it..Kick her...Kick her again.

I say "a .38 special demands allot of respect."

I can't believe those fans

I can't believe those fans stood by and let this lady get tazered! Bunch of whimps letting a cop do that in front of everyone. Signing a petition of protest after the fact is TOO LATE! DO SOMETHING IF THIS HAPPENS AROUND YOU otherwise the cops will use it all the time for any reason.

Can't really tell what's happening

Except at 52, I do NOT feel old. So a 54-year-old woman is not old, she is middle aged. We will be there soon enough, don't hasten the process. Besides I would love to see your biological age.

sorry about that, healthnut

didn't mean to be insensitive -- still friends?

Welllll

I guess so. :) I have discovered in my line of work, and or course as I get "Older" that age can be somewhat relative. I know people much younger that act and look so old. I also have a 74-year-old friend who still runs 50 miles in the mountains and runs marathons several times a year. I can't think of him as old, perhaps an alien but not old.

Pretty disgusting, old or not.

Time for the people to....

Kick the fuck out of cops like that. The people could have easily overpowered those pricks and smashed there piggy faces into the cement once and for all.
I am really pissed off with these pricks.
No more.

I wonder if the lady, 56 by the way, would be pleased..

.with Tasered and being called old, to boot.

Seriously, I can't see or hear anything clear enough in the video to make a decision. Obviously, cops are Taser-happy now....which is just slightly better than gun-happy... but I don't know what prompted the electrocution of a 'middle-aged' spectator at a football game.

I may not know the truth, but I know when I'm being lied to...

I was going by the posted report

" Cops Taser 54 Year Old Female Football Fan

WKOWTV
November 27, 2008 "

I don't think many 56 year old ladies would feel differently.

Anyway, I was just making a light-hearted comment for the fun of it.

I don't think it's right

to call a woman old even if she's 50, 52, 56, 60 or whatever age she is. Age is just a number and it's how old you feel. It's a shame that they tasered her. It seems that they are getting carried away with it big time.

I hate P.C. bullshit....

I hate P.C. bullshit.... :|

She's old. Simple. That's the definition of it. I don't give a Goddamn if it "offensive" to call someone old.

When I reach that age in 30+ years, I'll be old, as well.

Damn it!

Who won the game? ...LOL

cops 61 old lady 0 /F

cops 61 old lady 0 /F

Agesilaus, your topic title says " old lady " !!

The subject of the story is 54 years of age.

I know quite a few ladies of that age who might take exception with your description !

** sorry ** ... I couldn't resist ... LOL

I really meant "no-longer-young," not old

If she were old, I would have said "chronologically gifted."

Take a Stand

if you just repost videos like this and think you are "doing something"
think again. Unless you choose to act, sharing videos like this simply reenforces the idea that we should expect to be treated like cattle by our lords. If you see something like this happening you must stand in the way of abuse of power...otherwise you are promoting and supporting a system of dehumanization.

It's interesting to read in

It's interesting to read in this thread that many police cadets need to be trained in using tazers and sometimes tazered themselves, in order to be qualified.... BUT, how many of these same cadets are trained in the Constitution? Trained in the laws that they take oaths to?

I family member of mine who is a relatively new officer had to swear an oath to the Constitution, but he knows very little about it. Not one iota of his training included learning about the Constitution. He also thought it was strange that they did not train him in it but required him to take the oath to it....

Torture

The United Nations stated tasers are torture. Amazingly CBS News reported it. Police officers did quite well apprehending and protecting themselves before tasers. What do you think a club and gun are for?

You've hit the nail on the

You've hit the nail on the head! Cops with guns and clubs are well prepared to handle any situation. There is absolutely no use for tazers.

The introduction of tazers to our police force is clearly a business decision and nothing more. In America, we embrace war and have so since WW2. Any culture that embraces war like we do should also be willing to accept all of it's trappings, like advanced weapons, and must be prepared for these things to be used against their own people.....

Plus fear for the hell of it

as in this 1-min video clip showing 100 cops-who-look-like-aliens swarming a middle-aged couple for straying from the bike path at a park in Minneapolis

http://www.youtube.com/wa...

Scumbags, bullys,

Scumbags, bullys, bastards!!! And people are worried about gun control? Why not taser control? Gun control has always led to bad things where it happened. Look at Nazi Germany and Soviet USSR as a couple of examples.

Tasers need to be

outlawed forthwith!

Outlawed?

Don't outlaw tasers...Legalize permits for citizens to carry. Again a .38 special demands allot of respect.
All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent. Thomas Jefferson

Every Law Enforcement Officer

Should be tasered . So they will know what it feels like when they go to use it.

Now is the time to JUMP-START the campaigns for 2010 and 2012.
We didn't lose. The ignorant lost. We know what has happened. Personally I think John McCain Has been used as a patsy. To bring about an Obama administration.

They are BUT their is a difference between a young healthy

police recruits nuerology and a 54 old ladies or maybe someone who looks healthy but isn't. It can kill or permenantly disable a person, even the healthy recruit. It is a potentially debilatating and lethal violent act to tazer someone. It is torture and is another symptom of our societal systems unraveling.

The idea that people are things to be sacrificed in the cause rather than the simple truth that people are the cause. The financial, justice, political, societal systems have lost the trust of the people. It must be restored.

There is no possible excuse for tazering a ticket holder for sitting in the wrong seat in a crowded stadium no matter how much crap she was giving them, unless she pulled out a weapon then this was assault with a deadly weapon on the officers part.

You have a lot of people developing a new nuerological disorder called PISS. Police Induced Stress Syndrome.

Same for pepper spray, which I will tell you, hurts like hell if you get a direct shot in your eyes. My complexion being fair also meant that it burned my skin quite painfully, too, LOL. Oh, those were the days. (Had to undergo a "fight through" pepper spray scenario in law enforcement training.)

Tazers weren't around back in those days, but I know that presently the academies require the same sort of learning experience. You also have the pleasure of getting shot at with rubber bullets (those hurt like hell, too), escaping from a simulated under-water plane or auto crash, and similar scenarios.

There are some good cops. Many are bad, corrupt, and of low moral character. But there are some very good cops who go into that line of work with a servant's heart, rather than a desire to see what they can get out of it for themselves. When we did sign-waves last winter for RP08, we got lots of honks and thumbs up from cops in their patrol cars.

My city cop nephew-in-law was first

in line to be tasered when the department bought tasers six months ago (all their cops have to undergo tasing). He said it was real bad, and that it took him three days to recover from it. But the general consensus in the extended family is that he can't wait to taser someone. Sick.

They do get tasered.

Every cadet in my brother's class at the academy had to be tasered.

Also, my brother just caught a sexual predator that had raped six young university girls. He was patrolling on a bike, in the dark, and saw a man behind bushes on a path used by students. The guy actually thanked my brother for catching him because he was going to attack again that morning and was unable to control himself.

And, no, he didn't tase him or draw his weapon. He risked his life going after this guy and I'm proud of him.

Sorry if that makes me a traitor.

Law and order are requisite to any society worth living in

and I am grateful for the good people who can tolerate working in that line of work. I couldn't. I got too sick and disgusted with the obvious corruption and low moral character of the people I worked with.

I'm sure your brother is a fine man

but I worry about new policies permitting police to stun people with tasers in order to compel quick obedience to their commands. "Former Wisconsin Department of Justice Training and Standards Director Dennis Hanson told 27 News the use of a taser is an accepted intermediate option when the subject of police commands is not cooperating." http://www.infowars.com/?...

He doesn't carry a taser.

He's also a libertarian and tends to look the other way when it comes to marijuana as long as the people are cool and not causing problems with others -- except when it comes to selling to children.

we all need to support the police who are peaceable

and respectful of the law and help them get rid of those police who are vicious bullies.
