Recession in U.S. Started in December 2007, NBER Says

The U.S. economy entered a recession in December 2007, the panel that dates American business cycles said today.

The declaration was made by the National Bureau of Economic Research, a private, nonprofit group of economists based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The last time the U.S. was in a recession was from March through November 2001, according to NBER.

I bet if Rhino or

I bet if Rhino or jeff3456098 go back through my posts they will find where I said it started in the 4th quarter of last year! I was called an idiot etc. etc.. now I know how Peter Schiff feels lol

Isn’t that something?

I saw that on TV today. Real people realized right away. Educated jackasses depend on charts and science.

Paulson is still trying to convince us unenlightened commoners that the economy is (and always has been) absolutely stable.

A few lynchings were in order a long time ago.

Secret key to happiness: Stay happy. Shhh!

Middle of November 2007

It was like a switch was flipped at my store. I guess us small business owners are better economist than the government, cause I knew this all along.

Thank you Dr. Paul for making me act on what I already knew was right.

And do you say this is DEFLATIONARY OR INFLATIONARY?

"Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters." Benjamin Franklin

exactly... we small business

exactly... we small business owners forget more economics then people like jeff34456879 will ever know!

This can't be true. The fundamentals are strong.

Strong dammit, strong. We're fine. Nobody's struggling.

Wait a minute----If last December was a recession, what are we in now???

Peter Schiff

told them we were in a recession last year and they made jokes about it live on FOX business.
I just wonder how those morons feel now?

anyone got the youtube for this?

would love to see it.

Here you go. Pass it around....

excellent!

good work!

They think they are right

They think they are right and you are an ignorant bafoon. That's what being the elite is all about.

Don't you know anything? It's not a recession until the government *declares* it a recession. jk ;) hehe

This announcement must mean today is "state the obvious" day.

well said !

cw

DOW DOWN 548!! FANNIE MAE 88 CENTS/SHARE!!

So much for bailouts.

No, you spoke to soon

Down 700, and don't forget they have carte blanche for further funds to Fannie or whoever. They will just come out and say more time is needed to allow the bailout money to stabilize the economy.

Those guys haven't been paying attention

The recession of 2000 never ended in the rest of America, despite what the Wall Street crooks and DC liars think.

Maybe when we're on the

Maybe when we're on the brink of starvation, they'll admit we're in a depression.

http://federalfallacy.blo...

But no

It'll be time for that holiday in Dubai...

Who wants to look at starving people anyway ?

"Hey, remember that thing we said we weren't in...?"

"...well, it's almost over."

Stupid, the American public is... Yoda

I may not know the truth, but I know when I'm being lied to...

It's almost over, all right.

We are moving from RECESSION to GREAT DEPRESSION.

So it's official now....

(that took a long time)

Once again

Dr. Paul, Peter Schiff, and many other truth tellers are validated.

"It is the responsibility of the patriot to protect his country from its government."

— Thomas Paine

Yes, I saw that breaking news right now

on cnn.com showing people lined up in New York to go to a job fair. Wait a minute that means Bernake, Pauson and Bush were lying to the American people on all of those occasions saying everything was fine and we were not in a recession. Imagine that!

When will they admit Depression?

How long after we enter a depression, if we are not already there, will it take before the public is told.

I'm no expert on economics,

I'm no expert on economics, but I'd say the Depression started before the bailout.

Of course if I was an expert on economics, and I wanted to fit in, I'd have to shove my head two feet up my own ass.

After the Great Depression

After the Great Depression they had to craft a new word that was no inclined to panic the public...thus the word recession.

When the people write the history books

Sometime in the future after the revolution, and real history and news is documented and reported and not the current governments propaganda.
