A Thread FOR EVERYONE!!! PEACE!!

VERY IMPORTANT.....(Thank You for Reading)

Well after diving into the Ron Paul craziness a long time ago and learning all about the economy......I now take a few moments to express my thoughts.

You can do 3 things in my opinion....

#1 You can sit on the keyboard and read and read, and you can scare the Sh*t out of yourself.

#2 You can avoid it all, and deny it all.

#3 You can take in "All" of the information and make some decisions for yourself,.

What I have learned is if you focus on "One" item.....you tend to drive yourself towards that topic.

For instance.....lets take two single statements...

..."Silver and Gold are going to double, triple, and quadruple in price"

or

..."Their is going to be food shortages, you better stock up."

Okay....if you read these two statements, and it sparks your interest, what I have seen, and have been guilty of it myself, is you tend to start researching only the articles that you believe to enforce the statement, and you will only read the articles that re-enforce the statement that drive you into a convincing frenzy.

Then since you personally have been convinced, you venture out to convince every one else.

You, as I did...will spend "waste" so much time battling people in your own convinced thoughts......it gets painful, and it gets to be self-defeating in your daily life. It can consume you.

I could go on forever.......but my point is this.....

Read and read, and don't fall prey to scaring yourself to death. I have invested almost 2 years of my life now on researching all of this stuff, and a few things that I convinced myself would happen didn't. This was a big wake up call.....

I was convinced....

We were attacking Iran
Silver was going to $50 an ounce this year
Riots in the street were inevitable...
Food and water shortages coming soon......
on and on......

now I have a much better view...........

As you read all of this info.....sure it is wise to be prepared, it is just common sense.

But take a few steps back.......and stop the madness. Buy some Silver, buy some gold, but not so much that it would put you at risk if it falls you are forced to sell on the down trend.

Have a food and water storage. A good supply of food and water is a great thing if a Natural Disaster happens, or what ever.

Stay out of, or get out of debt. This is good common sense....

Again, my point is...do not become obsessed with any topic. Take the information in, and prepare, and be done with it.

LIVE YOUR LIFE....

Spend the next few weeks enjoying the holidays. Family, friends, and enjoy each day. You really only have your family and friends.

Have a Christmas party at your house. Relax, and appreciate all of the people around you.

Make a new promise to yourself........Help somebody in need each day. If you see somebody that needs a helping hand....do it. Help them any way you can.....each day.

On Thanksgiving Day, I was rushing over to my girlfriends house, to pick her up.......and I was feeling stressed about having to go to her parents house, and then rush over to my parents house. 2 Full meals, and in a time crunch. Well, as I was driving down her street to pick her up, I noticed a man dressed in rags walking down the street with a wagon and his dog. It was pouring rain and was about 40 degrees. He had all of his belongings in the wagon. I ripped by him without a second thought and then it came to me........"That man needs some help...NOW." I picked up my girlfriend, and was heading back out, and their he was continuing his journey to nowhere. I pulled out the cash I had in my pocket and pulled over. My girlfriend asked what I was doing.....I told her to roll down the window and give this guy the money,.........she started to question me....I said just do it. The old man with his dog was scared at first with me pulling up next to him, and she reached out the window, and a smile came to his face. I just wished him a Happy Thanksgiving.......and drove off.

I was so thankful that I saw him again.......and was able to take 30 seconds out of my day to change someones week into something good.

I am not saying this to impress you, I am just saying this to impress upon you, that it is the little things throughout the day that you can do....everyday, that can really help a bad situation a little better......

So rather than being obsessed with the doom and gloom of the Internet.......take a little time to do something right each day if you can.

That's all......

Have a great Christmas!

Thanks for taking the initiative

- like those taking part in the pay-it-forward thread. Worthy bump.

A very good post, it

A very good post, it actually sounds just like me, except I was rushing to THREE dinners! Three Thanksgiving dinners and I STILL don't realized how blessed I am.

I have also been trying not to read so much of the "scare the shit outta yourself" material and focus more on solutions.

For example, my father and I have been looking into buying a lot of non-geneically modified seeds. Survival seems much more applicable when you can grow your own food:

Thank you for sharing that.

Definitely a day brightener!

so many great threads

Bravo!

You are so correct. The Key seems to be BALANCE in our minds and actions. If you are making an investment you think of ALL the positive and negative results and somewhere a decision is made. I agree if we are only looking for certain stories then we will get a certain answer. So I think when we get a negative story we think has legs we should try and find a story that would balance that story. This site is great because we can get some really great discussions going and really learn a lot. Thank you so much
takeaction for sharing this with us. It was very timely and I think wise of us to start trying find the balance so that we can plan more accurately for the future.

A bump for inspiration

"Not armies, not nations, have advanced the race; but here and there, in the course of ages, an individual has stood up and cast his shadow over the world."

Angels in disguise....

I know exactly how you feel. The other day I stopped an old woman who was selling plastic Poinsettias. We have lots of people "hawking" stuff where I live, but somehow I got a FEELING that this woman really NEEDED someone. I called out to her and looked at her flowers, and she told me her husband had only died two months ago and she was living with one of her sons and trying to make a living. We both started crying and I gave her my money and big hug. I hope I made her way a little easier, but I actually consider her to be MY angel that came and helped ME that day, as it brought me out of severe depression and has made me realize how much I was helped by helping someone else.

I just posted this on another thread.......
Excellent book on this subject...."Invisible Acts of Power" by Caroline Myss. This book really affected me. She explains that when you do something for someone else it creates an energy flow between BOTH people and enhances both lives. This book can be read within or without a "faith" based setting. She brings in the philosophies of ALL of the major religions and shows how they all say similar things regarding "energy flow" or "grace". Excellent reading.
