Learn like a child but forget who you are -- new drugs to re-wire brain
A new neurological mixer combines protein Otx2 with enzyme chondroitinase to free up large basket cells in the adult brain, thus restoring the "neural plasticity" associated with effortless, rapid learning in young children.
Doctors at Harvard Medical School and Children's Hospital Boston hope such research may lead to effective treatments for Alzheimer's disease, schizophrenia and autism -- or even repairing structural damage to brain circuitry caused by strokes and spinal cord injuries.
Further refinement could create "the capacity to easily overhaul neural circuits," enabling adults to master new arrays of information more quickly, such as in the process of foreign language acquisition.
There's a catch: "You might lose the identity you've built," warns Dr. Takao Hensch, as old memories could be erased as a side-effect.
Does the medical promise of such research dovetail with the political objectives of the New World Order?
Are we on our way to becoming Borg?

Marijuana May Slow Memory Loss Among Elderly
New research from Ohio State University suggests that small, daily doses of marijuana may slow the onset of memory loss and diseases like Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and multiple sclerosis, the Toronto Globe and Mail reported Nov. 20

one point he made was ""The nervous system is hostile to growing new axons [the long neural projections that connect cells], which is why recovery after spinal-cord injury is so challenging," says Hensch. "

A significant volume of research both in animal and human models suggests the efficacy of cannabis in treating such disorders like RA, MS, Acute Brain Injury, excitotoxicity generated from drug treatment in Parkinson’s and Tourette’s Syndromes, neuropathies, glaucoma, and spinal cord injury, to name a few. The powerful anti-oxidant effect of the Cannabinoids seen in these disorders also provides hope that cannabis will be demonstrated clinically efficacious in disorders like liver inflammation from Hepatitis C, lupus, irritable bowel syndrome, and many other serious medical conditions that all involve inflammation and oxidative damage.

Detox and eat properly to clean the brain cells.
Why pour acetone on brain cells to clean the plaque away?
For over 150 years "Natural Hygiene" has been the closest thing to an organized system of healthful living I know of. It's based on the belief that the mind/body is self-regulating, self-repairing and self-regenerating IF we supply it's needs, don't poison it & get out of its way & let it work normally. Since 1994, I've come to believe that the NUTRITION part of Natural Hygiene is "Instinctive Nutrition".
What we do about food is very, very important. Without food, the planet will not have people! Let's stay here for many more generations!
Peace.

We are Not Our Brains....
We are spiritual beings. It's not up to us to play God with our fellow man. The brain theory boys, the mental health "experts" already have enough "treatments" to destroy a soul and turn anyone into a zombie. Why don't we just electroshock everyone and just be done with it?
As soon as you are willing to sacrifice another's liberty, you will eventually lose your own. I guess microchips are okay as long as they only go into illegal aliens, criminals, pets, children, Alzheimers patients, .....etc., etc., As soon as this is common place, it all starts to look very normal.
Enough already with this mind control crap. We are responsible for the way people in society are behaving. We have all contributed to whatever it is we see and dislike. That's hard to swallow but given the true nature of man, it actually can't work out any other way.
you suffer from a lack of imagination

you only think of the ways the technology could be abused.
We are responsible
We are responsible for the violence that goes on in our world, due to our inability to properly rehabilitate people.
We take a teenage thug and put him in a cage for 18 months for breaking and entering. We teach him to live like an animal with violent criminals, and then release him and we're surprised that he re-offends. Only this time, he's raped and killed someone...so we put him back in the same cage and let him teach another youngster how to be an animal.
It's on us, our criminal justice system is creating these monsters.
Now you're going to let compassion for these animals and Christian guilt prevent us from truly getting rid of the problem at the source?
I say, if you rape or kill another human, prepare to be brainwashed because you have no soul.
Yes and before we know it.
People who disagree with the government or uphold the constituition will be next in line to have their brains washed and become a zombie to society again. Your Eugenistist tone bothers me.
I guess the 8th Amendment means nothing to you
Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.

What's cruel?
I find it hard to believe that this is cruel and unusual. Seems humane and effective to me.
I guess you believe in a "living" Constitution then
As I suggested earlier, I would hope that you would be the first to volunteer for this "humane and effective" treatment.
Preventing an individual from harming anyone else (as part of a punishment for their crimes) through incarceration is dissimilar to forcing that person to take drugs against their will that permanently alter their consciousness and possibly their physiology.

You don't think that being
You don't think that being imprisoned for years upon years will and can permanently alter people's consciousness and their behavior? Shit happens often enough in prison that a judge sentencing someone for 10 years in prison might as well asy "I sentence you to 10 years of living like an animal- fighting off rapists or being raped, and possibly being killed if another animal in the cage doesn't like you".
There's nothing humane about imprisonment- I'd say its cruel torture to put people through that. Like how they just gave a teenager who's not even old enough to drink, 8 years in prison for giving his 4 year old nephew a marijuana blunt. I mean sure what he did was wrong- but jesus, 8 years for something like that?
Perhaps a choice is in line
See what someone would rather subject themselves to.
Spend the next 50 years in a steel box,
or
Undergo a rewiring to remove the evil from your brain.
I would think a lot of them would take the latter.
I don't think the constitution is a living document, but our interpretations of the words are certainly open to interpretation. It's impossible to imagine that our founders would have had any opinion on this matter, because it would have been beyond their comprehension.
There's nothing wrong with
There's nothing wrong with what these people are making(and the prison system is a complete disgrace.)
The issue isn't if a chemical that possibly alters your memories is bad or not- the issue is, is the government going to forcibly use it on people when they get their hands on it. Probably yes, but they already have much more dangerous arsenal than just that so I don't think there's any reason to be particularly alarmed.
And of course if someone voluntarily wants to go through this process- that's their right.
But marijuana and hemp are illegal?
I'm sure this will come in handy in the re-education camps.

Maybe a good thing
Jail would be a thing of the past. Take a violent criminal and rather than keep him alive in a cage for 50 years, brainwash him, rewire his brain to be completely docile and dedicated to self sufficiency and you have a productive member of society.
Sounds like "A Clockwork Orange"
Novel by Burgess, film by Kubrick. The hero (actually anti-hero) is a teen-aged gang leader rendered docile by a new form of aversion therapy. Once released, however, he can no longer protect himself against retaliation from his own former gangster buddies, who have since been recruited as police officers. The treatment also impairs the teenager's ability to enjoy music -- seemingly his only admirable trait.
It's difficult to make these decisions for another.

One of my favorites!
I love that movie.
I fail to have any sympathy for a person who would rape another person. Whatever identitiy they had developed, they lack simple human compassion and I would judge their brains as worth wasting.
I would not mind treatment like this for violent criminals, they deserve nothing better.
It's easy to make these decisions. Rape someone, kill someone, you're subhuman and need to be brainwashed.
Viddy well, brother, viddy well
I feel similarly about those who perpetrated 9/11. Yet, the Constitution prohibits cruel and unusual punishment, so that is what's more important than my visceral reaction to barbarism.

I would consider
I would consider brainwashing to be neither cruel nor unusual. Certainly not compared with putting a person in a 8x10 cage for the rest of their lives.
I hope they develop this technology and use it for a good purpose. i have long assumed that the CIA has the capability to brainwash someone, this just makes it easier i'm sure.

Only for violent animals
This would be very useful in rehabilitation of criminals, and I would be all for it if we could brainwash violent animals and stop the destruction before it's too late.
Yes, this could be easily misused if it's in the wrong hands. I get it.
Dragging your feet on a technology which will be developed simply doesn't do any good. That's why it's imperitive that we take back control of our country now...while we still stand a chance.
"take back control of our country now"
