A WHOLE LOT of you need to think twice before calling others "Sheeple" or not "Awake"
Submitted by MikeLawson on Fri, 12/19/2008 - 12:23
There are a lot of wide awake people here, but there are also a lot of people who cliam to be awake because they are here. Just because you are in the company of the aware, does not mean you have done all the leg work required to get there. You have to be prepared to give EVERYTHING you see a fair shake and considerable research. You can never trust the mainstream media as a source of opinion, NEVER. For ANYTHING! You cannot trust your "gut" because your way of thinking is largely a result of dumbed-down society and awful educational system. The dumbing-down didn't start with this generation, you are stupid. Just like the rest of us. The only thing us awake do is FIGHT it. We look for original source materials, we don't believe or disbelieve anything until it has been fully investigated and we only watch mainstream sources to see what they're feeding the sheep.
You are running out of time to to really good research easily and I highly suggest you get on it. Try it with the Pesticides in pepsi thread, you may be surprised.
WAKE UP BEFORE YOU FALL FOR SOMETHING YOU REGRET!!

The whole terminology is asinine.
We're "awake", so we're superior.
The unawake are "sheeple". They are inferior.
Even though boatloads of 'us' voted for Bush--many of us TWICE. (So much for any signs of mental superiority.)

Yes, let's learn from Ron
The thing that made Ron Paul such a standout in my mind is that he was incredibly knowledgeable yet always humble! If I was in his shoes it would be so tempting to go on the airwaves and start screaming about how right he was all along and how ye mere mortals were so wrong, mwahahaha.
But someone he kept his ego in check and never showed arrogance, which is why people are so drawn to him. We should never give in to arrogance, no matter how frustrated we get. Patience is something to be valued.

Just curious, is Ron Paul "awake"?
For the record, Ron Paul doesn't believe in conspiracy theories and has disavowed them publicly. As a medical doctor, I also doubt he would have much to say about the Pepsi story you mentioned, which seems to have brought out the pseudo-science crowd who doesn't really understand a lot about chemistry.
In your opinion, is Ron Paul "awake"?
--"...but there are also a lot of people who cliam to be awake because they are here."
I think people are here because they listened to Ron Paul and liked what he said.

For some reason, Ron Paul found this book interesting and truthful enough to endorse the back of it. Not to mention, he is a more or less monthly guest on Alex Jones' radio show.
Now I dont know about you, but I dont tell every one I meet about every alternate theory before I know the person I am talking to. I find that if you lead in with information that may be "uncomfortable," people shut down to it.
That said, I do think that the main topic of this thread is a bit toooo high and mighty. Do I say sheeple and awake, sure. Is it Right? Likely not. Is it accurate? Probably?
The whole idea of trusting nuthing? Rediculous. My God blessed me with discernment. This whole idea of only trusting "source documents" please.
I must wholeheartedly agree with you.
...Quite possibly for the only time in this century.
This Forum is about Ron Paul, and this MOVEMENT is founded in Ron Paul running for President. There's lots of extraneous stuff and "free speech", but it's still about Ron Paul. A lot of people here want to hijack the movement and make it into something else. They fail.

Mike, I somewhat agree...
The person you're talking to (and his friends and family) should not be called a sheeple. But the other anonymous maroons who get 100% of their news and information from Faux, MSNBC, CNN, etc., yeah they are sheeple and deserve the term.
Sheeple are the anonymous millions you can't reach. They're not the person you're talking to.
Let the person you're talking to decide if he wants to be a sheeple or awake.

I believe it's a bad idea in general. Can you imagine if Ron Paul had gone around pointing at various people and yelling, "You're a sheeple! You're a sheeple!"
Some here may have found it satisfying and humorous, but I doubt it would have been very effective. Most likely counterproductive.
Every time you feel the urge to call someone a sheeple, you should stop and consider at least posting a link to something which supports your argument instead.

The point raised in this post is excellent. If you always assume that you're not fully awake, not fully informed, then there's always something new to discover. Once you assume you are at the ultimate state of awareness such that anyone who disagrees with you is wrong, you're slamming the door on any kind of intellectual growth from that point onward.
But wait! There's more!
The Bible has some interesting and specific things to say about being a "sheep" versus being a "goat". The term "sheeple" as an insult has always disturbed me for that reason.

Does that include religion also?
a persons faith
is just that..their personal "FAITH". Is there any need in trying to push "non faith" onto the faithful? It just doesn't make any sense, and it does a whole lot more harm and absolutely no good that I can think of. A non-believer isn't going to "wake up" a true believer and follower of their faith. People of Faith have Something and Someone in our lives that can never be eroded by people who just don't believe the way we do. Let's compare....our personal faith in God... VS... non believers telling us their versions and views on faith...not much of a contest. All the videos and books written by man attempting to explain away God just won't cut it. And it makes the people who are trying to kill faith show their true colors..it's not about Liberty and Freedom for all, it is about them and their beliefs..their words and actions speak for themselves.
And by the way..someones simple mentioning of their personal faith, or mentioning Christmas...isn't exactly beating people over the head with a Bible as some would attempt to make us believe. It is simply like minded people communicating...it's funny but we of faith aren't worried about someone's faith or lack of faith, we are worried about Freedom and Liberty for ALL to practice anything they like, or nothing at all, some can't say that...it's more about trying to call "Faithful" ignorant, or any other hateful words a person can come up with to describe someone who doesn't believe the same as them.

Barnes' Notes
Meekness is the reception of injuries with a belief that God will vindicate us. "Vengeance is his; he will repay," Romans 12:19. It little becomes us to take his place, and to do what he has promised to do.
Meekness produces peace. It is proof of true greatness of soul. It comes from a heart too great to be moved by little insults. It looks upon those who offer them with pity. He that is constantly ruffled; that suffers every little insult or injury to throw him off his guard and to raise a storm of passion within, is at the mercy of every mortal that chooses to disturb him. He is like "the troubled sea that cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt."

Do they have sheep over there, have a merry winter solstice and a happy new age. Religious Faith: the biggest and the best divider for the controllers of the sheeple. Everything is predetermined and I'm going hell, gee the keyboard is getting so hot I can't even type anymore. I could go on and on but that be divisive and I have all ready created enough discord here and probably need my head examined right and the meekle will inherit the earth.
ahh
I think you have "Faith" and "Religion" mixed up. That is the problem, and the divider, but I can't expect a "faith hater" to understand that, nor can I expect them to see any difference.
You shouldn't bundle everyone in a group and judge them accordingly. That is one of Ron Pauls great lessons, maybe you just weren't listening that day.

Since this site was created in honor of a Christian man, I will now quote Ron Paul from his essay "War on Religion", found here:
http://www.lewrockwell.com/paul/paul148.html
"Through perverse court decisions and years of cultural indoctrination, the elitist, secular Left has managed to convince many in our nation that religion must be driven from public view. The justification is always that someone, somewhere, might possibly be offended or feel uncomfortable living in the midst of a largely Christian society, so all must yield to the fragile sensibilities of the few."
Sorry all you Wiccans, Druids, Talmudists, New-Agers, Rosicrucians, Theosphists, Scientologists, and you "pretend atheists" who are actually occultists/Satanists..hint hint Jesse, you troll, America is still mostly a Christian nation, so you should expect to encounter more Christians here; and you can't expect every new-fangled cult to receive equal treatment, especially when they condone activities that are in direct contradition to Christian ways.
Funny, I never hear REAL Muslims, Hindus or Buddhists complain about Christmas trees...
Ron Paul is an educated man and a man of reason.
He would never say to someone, "Go to China If you want to hear more of the Buddhist point of view. Go to Saudi Arabia if you want to hear the Muslim point of view."
Actually, I don't think Jesus would say that either. But then, I don't think Jesus would say most of the stuff I hear coming out of Christians mouths.

not splitting hairs here...but..
Ron Paul did say this..."Through perverse court decisions and years of cultural indoctrination, the elitist, secular Left has managed to convince many in our nation that religion must be driven from public view. The justification is always that someone, somewhere, might possibly be offended or feel uncomfortable living in the midst of a largely Christian society, so all must yield to the fragile sensibilities of the few."
And as far as I can tell....that is the only thing attributed to Ron Paul in that post.
Hey Dale.
It wasn't the topic. It was Armor's flippant arrogance. Ron would never speak to a person of another religion in that manner. That was my point.

Thomas Jefferson
Thomas Jefferson wasn't much of a christian. In fact, he tried to rewrite the new testament.
He wasn't much of an atheist, either.
He was a Deist. Nothing more nor less.
I wish atheists would stop trying to use Jefferson as a foil. They can use Robert Heinlein, H.L. Mencken, Ayn Rand, and other great minds. They have no need to concoct lies about the Founders.

"To talk of immaterial existences is to talk of nothings. To say that the human soul, angels, God, are immaterial, is to say they are nothings, or that there is no God, no angels, no soul. I cannot reason otherwise: but I believe I am supported in my creed of materialism by Locke, Tracy, and Stewart. At what age of the Christian church this heresy of immaterialism, this masked atheism, crept in, I do not know. But a heresy it certainly is. Jesus told us indeed that 'God is a spirit,' but he has not defined what a spirit is, nor said that it is not matter. And the ancient fathers generally, if not universally, held it to be matter: light and thin indeed, an etherial gas; but still matter." [letter to John Adams, August 15, 1820]
"Millions of innocent men, women, and children, since the introduction of Christianity, have been burned, tortured, fined, and imprisoned, yet we have not advanced one inch toward uniformity. What has been the effect of coercion? To make one half of the world fools and the other half hypocrites." [Notes on Virginia]

Kercheval, 1810]
"...an amendment was proposed by inserting the words, 'Jesus Christ...the holy author of our religion,' which was rejected 'By a great majority in proof that they meant to comprehend, within the mantle of its protection, the Jew and the Gentile, the Christian and the Mohammedan, the Hindoo and the Infidel of every denomination.'" This only shows..
that even very smart men sometimes can not separate "Faith" from "Religion". Every time I see negative things said about "Religion"..I have to cringe..but mostly agree. The problem in my eyes, is that people of faith, in these conversations, get sucked into the cesspool of the label "man made religion".
There is a huge difference, and only one who constantly reads and study's the Word, and lets the Word speak to him truly understands what God's message is. There are great preachers out there, who are wonderful "teachers", but that is no substitute for the Word of God.
I am not religious, but I have Faith in God and His Word.
...sorry dude..
IThomas Jefferson, third president and author of the Declaration of Independence, said:"I trust that there is not a young man now living in the United States who will not die a Unitarian." He referred to the Revelation of St. John as "the ravings of a maniac" and wrote:
The Christian priesthood, finding the doctrines of Christ levelled to every understanding and too plain to need explanation, saw, in the mysticisms of Plato, materials with which they might build up an artificial system which might, from its indistinctness, admit everlasting controversy, give employment for their order, and introduce it to profit, power, and pre-eminence. The doctrines which flowed from the lips of Jesus himself are within the comprehension of a child; but thousands of volumes have not yet explained the Platonisms engrafted on them: and for this obvious reason that nonsense can never be explained."

It's called the "Jefferson Bible".
"Thomas Jefferson believed that the ethical system of Jesus was the finest the world has ever seen. In compiling what has come to be called "The Jefferson Bible," he sought to separate those ethical teachings from the religious dogma and other supernatural elements that are intermixed in the account provided by the four Gospels. He presented these teachings, along with the essential events of the life of Jesus, in one continuous narrative."
