More of the Same You Can Believe In—Rice Endorses Obama's Foreign Policy of Escalation in Afghanistan

Recently, Time Magazine published an article entitled "Obama's New World Order".

Let's run down some of the big NeoCon names (and all-around "Republican" Bad Guys™ in the minds of those trapped in the small box of the fraudulent left-right paradigm of the War Party) that have given high marks to the possible Obama administration to see if we can figure out what Time magazine is talking about.

Karl Rove made the 'post-partisan' observation that Mr. Obama's national security team represents "continuity in Iraq" and "continuity in Afghanistan". Perhaps “liberals” and “progressives” should be alarmed when pundits on the “left” begin to sound like Karl Rove. Perhaps Mr. Rove is satisfied that his permanent "Republican" majority has come to fruition but through other means.

Next up is the Dark Lord himself, Richard Bruce "Dick" Cheney. As he effectively admitted to war crimes on ABC News recently, Mr. Cheney also offered praise for Mr. Obama's national security team, calling it "a pretty good team".

Lo and behold, a top "Democrat" recently urged Mr. Obama to retain Mr. Bush's CIA chief, Michael Hayden, and Mr. Bush's Director of National Intelligence, Mike McConnell, actually mimicking the Rovian euphemism ‘continuity’.

Speaking of the CIA, former CIA Director and current Bush administration Secretary of the misnamed Department of “Defense”, Robert Gates (who of course will be staying on under an Obama administration), recently made remarks in Bahrain that would further degrade Mr. Obama’s ‘change’ mantra/meme. He said, “I can assure you that a change in administration does not alter our fundamental interests, especially in the Middle East.” I wonder, has Mr. Obama articulated his belief in “our fundamental interests” in the Middle East? Because, apparently Gates knows that the ‘change’ from a Bush administration to an Obama administration has not or will not “alter” those “interests”.

Next is none other than the Donald himself, in this case Rumsfeld, who has all but endorsed Mr. Obama’s proposed strategy of escalation (aka “surge”) in Afghanistan.

For the pièce de résistance, Mr. Obama has seemingly scoffed at much of his 'base' with his decision to invite a ‘conservative evangelist’, the Rev. Rick Warren, to offer the inaugural invocation. Aside from Mr. Warren’s views on 'gay rights' and his supposed opposition to abortion, he has also made quite hawkish remarks regarding aggression towards Iran.

Perhaps because many on the so-called “left” have been incensed by the selection of Mr. Warren for the invocation, a degree of irony has seemingly been lost on the “left” that Mr. Warren had earlier this month awarded President George W. Bush the ironically-named “International Medal of “P.E.A.C.E.” Any bewilderment from the “left” on the irony that Mr. Obama would ‘salute’ Mr. Bush as he received the “International Medal of “P.E.A.C.E.” has been largely absent.

Now we learn that Bush Secretary of State and former National Security Advisor, Condoleezza Rice, is suggesting that a possible Obama administration will largely follow the foreign policy of one George W. Bush. Ms. Rice went on to all but endorse Mr. Obama's proposed strategy of escalation in Afghanistan, also euphemistically referring to the lack of 'change' in foreign policy as "continuity".

It would seem that the new world order is strikingly similar to the old world order.

Contractors for Department of Defense insiders

The mega-rich private corporations contracted to the myriad of Department of Defense branches -- who supply various war machines, etc. and rake in money the longer a war continues -- are confident, from the information they've gotten directly from the Obama camp, that they've got at least another good "2 to 3 year" run on the Iraq War.

They're making way too much money to shut down the war machine, no matter what Obama "promised" during his campaign.

When Ron Paul makes his announcement to run for 2012, we want to make a giant donation bomb.

I'm not a big believer in changing the system from within, but I'm willing to make Ron Paul happen.
