And this too:
"With 34,000 U.S. soldiers already in Afghanistan, half under NATO command, the 20,000 will increase U.S. forces there to 54,000, a 60 percent ratcheting up. Afghanistan is going to be Obama’s War. And upon its outcome will hang the fate of his presidency. Has he thought this through?"
"What is there to win in Afghanistan to justify doubling down our investment? If our vital interest is to deny a sanctuary there to al-Qaida, do we have to build a new Afghanistan to accomplish that? Did not al-Qaida depart years ago for a new sanctuary in Pakistan?"

And then there is the pending invasion of Pakistan:

Is this still all about OIL?
SILK ROAD OIL PIPELINE
Of course it's about oil. Afghanistan represents the final link in the Silk Road Pipeline project which allows one of the largest oil reserves in the world from the Caspian Sea to be exported to China and the rest of the largest emerging consumer market of petroleum in the world. This represents one of the greatest opportunities for wealth in history.
Did anyone notice that he called Iraq a 'sovereign country'?
What a royal joke!

"leave in 2011 if Iraqi's demanded it"
What a load of BS! They are demanding it now and have been for a long time, what will change in 2011? Nothing, we'll continue to occupy the country for as long as we see fit. The Iraqi people have no input, the American people have no input, and Congress has no input.

Not looking good
And they also want how many more troops in Afghanistan?
Two or three brigades...
...according to Mr. Obama and Bush Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

Where I cannot fathom what goes through these peoples heads. More young men and some women up upon the chopping block..........Wait...I know what they are thinking. The return on investment from continuing a war. Sure some cheap labor might be lost but who cares. We're rich!
