I am off to ECUADOR!
Submitted by healthnut4freedom on Tue, 12/30/2008 - 23:44
Just wanted to post and tell everyone that I will be off to Ecuador tomorrow for two weeks! We are buying property and doing a lot of sight seeing and bird watching. We would like to live there at least part time. I will let you know how it goes. Anything you guys particularly interested in?
Wish me luck! I have never been out of the country before.

Without any intended
Without any intended offence. All I can say is that another rat has jumped a sinking boat , instead of staying and fighting for what is right.
I wish you and yours 'all the best'. but I know if the movement fails in this country...NO OTHER is safe. This is an 'all or nothing' case. The powers and forces we face in this war are far greater than any before. There is no place to hide, there is no place to go (for savety). God help us all. Running or Hunkering down with plans to 'counter attact' are not the answer. Standing up to what's wrong (from the git go) is.
America is an Idea...
I'd live in space and take America with me.
I Am America..
One Voice, One Vision, One Love ~ Liberty.
Good Thoughts, Good Words , Good Deeds.
That is the Ron Paul rEVOLution Creed.
One Louv. ;-)..
Drawn most likely from a poster in England, circa 1600
Go and make your life wherever you can to the best of your ability. There is nothing sacred about America except that it was the birthing place of true liberty. If it is a sinking ship and another is available in which you can make a better life, I say to hell with those ruining the country, let them ruin it without you.
Look at the flight of brains from England and other European countries to America in the 40s and 50s. They came en-masse and were accused of the same crime:
"Don't leave us! We need you! Sacrifice yourself on the fires of the mediocre that they may have light and survive!"
I can't believe anyone claiming to be a supporter of Ron Paul would go to such collectivist stances and claim them as their own.

You will love it.
Try to get to the Galapagos Islands if possible.
I was there two years ago and it was great.
Good luck
Hope it turns out to be fun and in your favor. Advice from a Floridian.... Take the same amount of money you spend on property, and buy 55 gallon drums of bug spray, and a shot gun for the really big ones.)
I've already got mine:
enough pymethrin concentrate to make 95 gallons. I have a couple uses in mind. At 0.5% it is good for treating clothing, thereby avoiding insect bites. That's also the concentration to use in foggers for knockdown collecting. Pymethrin degrades rapidly so it is fairly benign on the environment. It is quite toxic to fish, however, and must be kept away from water bodies.
I'm hardly anti-insect though, as you can see from these photos of friends I made in eastern Ecuador:

About going to Ecuador!
Good luck with your trip to Ecuador! I do not know too much about that contry, but I am not far away from you down here in Panama. In fact, I made the decision to move here earlier this year. (2008) And I am loving every minute of it! Anyway, I am sure Ecuador will be a very nice and interesting experience for you!
Panama is for sure a great alternative to living in Northern Europe, Canada or the US. The country is very strongly positioned to face the global economic crisis which will become like a storm of horror an many western countries in the next few years. It has perhaps the strongest banking system in the world today, with close to 60% of all deposits backed by liquid capital.
(Compared to 1% or less in the US and 2 - 5% in Europe!)
As a foreigner living here you have a host of extremely attractive tax benefits, including no tax to pay on any foreign earned income! And with several opportunities to start companies in special tax-free zones, places that even you Panama based corporate income will be tax-free for many years to come!
In my opinion, Panama is perhaps the most interesting place in the world right now if you are considering another place to live in the future!

If you have the opportunity, you should check out the history and visit the convent in the square at Quito, where the statue of Our Lady of Good Success resides.
That convent is under the protection of heaven. One of he founding sisters received dire messages about our time and her body, as well as the bodies of other founding nuns, is incorrupt. One Masonic government fell the night before it was going to evict the nuns. I believe there is a major celebration there in January.
Have a wonderful trip.
Equador just defaulted on the interest pay on their debt.
Have a great time.
Check on currency exchanges in case their money becomes worthless while you are visiting. You need a way out when the time comes.
Are you headed to the Galapagos Islands?

Ecuador
is on the dollar. They switched to that in 1999. So, when our dollar goes, then their goes because it is the same. But things are much cheaper there.
No Galapagos this trip.

Have fun and good luck with finding your property.
PARAGUAY! ALL THE WAY!
Move to Paraguay. George and Laura Bush have purchased 98,500 acres in Paraguay right next to reverend Moon's property, he has 700,000 acres. You could be GW's neighbor and maybe he'll even give you SS protection!
Ecuador and Venezuela
Ecuador is a beautiful country. I have family there and I have been visiting every 5-years or so since I was born. I'm now 32. I have seen tremendous transformations and modernizations in Ecuador in that time. I literally remember when there were no street signs on the major highways to tell you which highway you were on. The jungles are beautiful, and I proposed to my now wife on a mountaintop in Ecuador.
That being said, I am concerned about the countries direction. President Correa seems to be sympathetic to Chavez and his vision for a 21st century Socialism. In addition, the Ecuadorian government recently defaulted on a portion of its national debt not because it could not pay, but because they said the debt was acquired illegally. I have many relatives in Ecuador who have bank accounts in Miami so that the government cannot confiscate their money, or back when they had their own currency so that the government could not inflate away their life savings. Look at inflation numbers for 1999 if you are interested, but hold your eyeballs in so that they don't pop out... lol.
Anyway, my parents talked about buying property there, but I told my Dad that if he didn't plan on living there I don't think it would be a good idea. I would imagine that it would be very difficult to keep track of property in a foreign country. In addition, if they keep going down the path Venezuela is leading who knows what might happen to personal property. Especially property owned by Americans. I know of several families in Venezuela that live in the US that have finally sold all of their Venezuelan assets at a big loss just to get out before the government decides it wants to nationalize their property.
The US may have alot of problems, but I think we're far further away from Socialism than either Ecuador or Venezuela. I look forward to the day that both countries decide that the free market is a better approach and take more power away from their corrupt politicians.

Thanks for the heads up. I have been working with Americans that own extensive properties in Ecuador. Also, the people we are purchasing property from are very close friends and we have an attorney that came recommended to me by a personal friend. So, everything should be fine. Ecuador is not Venezuela and Correa is nowhere near Chavez.
Correa's decisions don't seem to make sense but I believe he has his country's best interests at heart. I respect what he has accomplished thus far in the country. He is not bowing down to the world banking cartels and the U.S. And believe me, the US is definitely going down the Socialist alley and the Fascist. Look around and the regulations are smothering us. Free country? My goal is to develop some farming land for a business and possible place to live permanently. I am talking to A LOT of Americans that have lived there for years so I won't be too blind, I hope.
thanks for your input, though, because I take all of this into consideration.

Gov Confiscating Bank Accounts
A bit of news from Ecuador that may not have gotten to the US news reports.
The Ec. President, Correa, has declared that the government is out of money. Therefore, he will give an executive order that all of the money in peoples' savings accounts in Ecuador will be expropriated by the government. He didn't say when, but soon.
As you can imagine, there is a run on the banks with lines going out in the streets at all bank branches. A friend of my mother's stood in line for almost one hour to get her paltry $500 out.
This type of thing happened in 1999 under another president. He closed the banks and took the money when Ecuador switched from its own currency, sucres, to US dollars. People lost everything they had in the banks at that time.
my guess
is that will be coming to the US within a few years...
What Istrilyin says is certainly true of the big cities
so be careful there. Travel in pairs. Be alert for pickpockets and purse/bag snatchers. Do not turn loose of your luggage. Don't dawdle; walk purposefully. Always be aware of who is around you and what they are doing.
However, your chosen location is chiefly agrarian with a great deal less crime. Life should be good there. But while violent crime may be rare, theft of your property while you are away may be a major issue. Be very theft conscious about whatever you install or build there. If you have a caretaker family lined up, this issue will be of far less concern.
When I build in eastern Ecuador I plan to incorporate a steel shipping container into the lab as a safe room. Inside that I will have one or more big safes for my most valuable items. I plan to have several compact work stations on carts that can be rolled into the safe room and locked up whenever I am out of the building. Even my bed (a hammock) will be put away by day.

Some hints
I've been to Ecuador, Guajaquil. Knew people there, which helped a lot.
You'll be able to buy nice property there, but if you're not going to stay there permanently then you're taking a lot of risk. I mean the majority of the people there are poor and some might loot the house. My advice is not being too eager.
Talking about crime: when I was there, the bf of a girl in the house showed what a .38 left in his tummy when he was out one day in Quito where he didn't know which hoods were okay and which were not. Some guy my hostess met came back one day with bullets in left and right shoulders as he protected his head during an robbery of a supermarket, where I shopped just some days earlier. The hostess urged me to keep my watch in my pocket, not show cash and all that stuff at certain places. Anyway: watch out there, it's not for nothing that each and every house's front looks like a high security prison.
You can do bird watching as much as you like but stay in areas where there is a lot of police, unless you are in company. I believe it was called Malicon or so, a well-maintained strip next to the water where there are lots of restaurants, police, and nicer women. I mean I met a nurse and her mother there, got invited and had a good time in general.
In short: be careful out there.

Thumbs up.
Good Luck...I hope you make it out of the country. Hell, My brother and his family were just going to Alaska for a vacation, and they were isolated and searched before boarding. Asking stupid questions, going through their bags and patting them down. Security said it was a random search, how random was it that they only searched my brother, (A supporter of the liberty campaign, and an avid youtuber for Ron Paul.) his wife, (A supporter of the liberty campaign, and Ron Paul.) and their son. (A supporter and avid youtuber for Ron Paul.) over all the other passengers?
Can anyone say list? Other then that they had a good time, and I hope you do too.

Let 'em search me.
I can't wait 'til I have to finally pull down my underwear in the crowded airport and say "I told you, you idiots. I was only carrying what God gave me. Tell your wives about that one when you go home tonight!"
Will you pack me in your suitcase???
Would love to know everything about the place, please share when you get back state side okay.

Your mission - should you decide to accept it...
...First of all, concentrate on having fun and forgetting about all the nonsense that's happening up here! That will most likely be easier once you run the gauntlet of gov't airport security theater. After that, if you happen upon any spare moments where absolutely NOTHING of interest is going on - then and only then allow yourself to think about fulfilling some of the other requests you're reading here. Escape - however brief - is a wonderful thing, don't waste it... :-)
