DP Updated Posting Guidelines

Below are the updated posting guidelines for the site. Please review them and add any comments below. Thank you.

I set up this website/blog/forum in January 2007 as a place for Ron Paul supporters to communicate with each other during Dr. Paul’s 2008 presidential bid. Although the election is over, the passionate community of supporters who believe in freedom, liberty, peace, and justice remains as strong as ever. While Ron Paul did not win the election, no other ex-presidential candidate has as loyal and passionate a following as Dr. Paul has developed. The ongoing purpose of this site has therefore become 1) to keep Dr. Paul’s message and ideas alive, 2) an open forum for the honest discussion of ideas and the search for truth, and 3) to share, practice and spread these ideas as far and wide as possible in the world we live in. This site will thus remain in existence as long as there is a need for it, and as long as there are supporters willing to help keep it going.

This website is my private property. Participating here is a privilege, not a right. Understanding the difference between these concepts is fundamental to understanding the message of freedom and liberty.

The Daily Paul welcomes freedom lovers and students of liberty everywhere! Anyone is initially granted the privilege of reading and posting to this site. In order to post to this site, first you must become a member. All comers are welcome! Members must abide by a few simple rules:

1) Even though this site is not in any official way affiliated with Dr. Paul or any of his multiple organizations, by participating in this site you are still representing Dr. Paul in the eyes of the public. Please do not write anything that Dr. Paul himself would not say or would not approve of, or that would reflect poorly on Dr. Paul or his organizations. Dr. Paul is a compassionate, humble, honest, fair and kindhearted human. Follow Dr. Paul’s lead. For a short introduction to what Dr. Paul is like, read this little article. This site is a place to practice creating the kind of world you want live in with your words. On this site, please don’t use profanity or other disrespectful or divisive language.

2) ALWAYS spell check and grammar check your work before posting. The new Firefox has a built in spell checker. Misspelled words get a red underline, and if you right click on them, you get some options from a built-in dictionary.

3) Do not post the text of entire articles on other sites. This is copyright infringement, and could get you, me, and this site in trouble. Feel free to post a short intro, and then a link to the original article. Unfortunately YouTube videos and images cannot be embedded in the forum – it is a security risk. Feel free to link to them. Just copy and paste the address, and it will turn into a link automatically.

Our mission here is to support each other, to help each other grow, examine our assumptions, and be more powerful advocates for freedom in the larger world. We want to be welcoming to new comers to the site. Be the change you want to see in the world. In your world, it all begins with you.

In order for this website to continue functioning, members must agree to play by the rules and respect the community. Anyone who does not respect the community or the guidelines above is not welcome here. Any of the following are grounds to have your post/comment deleted without notice.

Engaging in flame wars or personal attacks on other members, racist or sexist remarks, posting obscene materials, inciting or encouraging violent or illegal acts, posting spam, bumping your own thread to keep it on the front page, posting the same non-related comment on multiple threads to promote your website or event (This is considered spam. The forums are a place for discussion, not advertising), blatant advertising and/or EXCESSIVE USE OF CAPITAL LETTERS. If you cannot consistently spell or check your grammar, you may also be banned.

Repeated offenses will result in the termination of your account. As I stated at the beginning, participation in this site is a privilege, not a right. Ultimately, anything that I decide reflects poorly on Dr. Paul and/or sullies the good and peaceful name of Ron Paul, the Daily Paul or said supporters is not welcome here. At the end of the day, this is my house. I set it up to honor, respect and promote Ron Paul and the principles of freedom and liberty. Play fair and you're welcome to stay. Do not abuse what is offered.

A reading of the 2010 census form is startling. Nowhere is the nationality of the "residents" required! Do we intend to set congressional districts based on included aliens?

Is there any plan or way to correct this intentional oversight?

Frankly, a lot of well-intentioned people continue to post stuff that "reflects poorly on Dr. Paul or his organizations." This is stuff that "Dr. Paul himself would not say or...approve of," such as CONSTANT discussion of fringe conspiracies (chemtrails, etc.).

Hey, look, there's got to be some flexibility. I admit that. I'm not worried if -- once in a blue moon -- someone segues into a discussion on chemtrails if we get back on subject. But there are times when 25% or more of the active threads on the front page violate that paragraph and reflect poorly on us.

People need to understand how their "pet issues" are perceived by people, how "mixing the message" causes outsiders to perceive us holistically, and how mainstream Ron Paul supporters feel about being lumped in with those views. We don't like it. We don't begrudge you for your beliefs or because you want to discuss them, we just don't want you doing so in such a way that it makes us look like ALL Ron Paul supporters share those concerns.

Hopefully these guidelines will help people understand that, and will help the site stay more focused and less threatening to those who are new to the movement.

He then wants to allow competing currencies that are backed or redeemable in Constitutional money. { Gold/Silver }

There is a very good reason why a central bank is not mentioned in the Constitution. It is because, like any other business, banking belongs in the private sector without any government mandated regulations made to kill off all the competition.
A free market banking system that uses money that has universal value, would eventually replace what looks like a corrupt { Money with held from some and given to others } system that is now failing.

Would these free banks need regulation?

If all banking charters and all contracts are strictly followed, honest courts can decide if illegal activity is taking place.

If these simple rules are followed the free market system would allow free individuals to conduct financial exchanges among themselves without having a good portion of their wealth confiscated through taxation. Governments would become much smaller and would have to balance much smaller budgets the whole country would again prosper because the local wealth that is created would mostly stay in the local area building local businesses, instead of being spent, lent, and given away all over the world. American incentive must be re-kindled among the American public.

This all makes very good financial sense to me that's why I back Dr. Ron Paul, and hope he runs for President in 2012 !

Then when you are on that site click on education.
Then click on sound money.

Then you will find videos to watch and articals to read so you will know and understand what he wants to replace the money with.

Some of us could try to tell you what we think but your question was what would Ron Paul want to replace the notes with.

Liberty is our campaigns gift to the world it is our manifest destiny.

I know sometimes we all get a lil over zealous and the fight gets the better of us. This may be an easy solution. I have used a filter such as this on my SMF based sites with great success.... actually people get a kick out of the "replacement" words i choose for the foul ones. Not sure if this works the same but will deffo get rid of foul language. Helps those who have had a bad day without penalizing them more. Just a thought =)
