Forming Networks is the key to saving your money

The economy is in the tank but that doesn't mean you have to lose your money. I've setup a social networking group here:
http://independentwealth....
The network is setup into 4 groups:

1) Individual Precious Notes:
-After printing up individual notes denominated in ounces and notarized from your store of precious metal you can trade within the network
website: www.preciousnotes.org (under construction)

2) Individual Harvest hours
-For businesses to print up money related to hours worked by employees.
website: www.harvesthours.org (under construction)

3) Independent Banks
-An idea by Marty Calbone to give the people the power to be independent banks to loan out money and accept all currency, including local currency.
website: www.alphabeticalist.com (California specific)
website: www.indybanks.org (under construction)

4) Businesses who accept local currency
-If you own a business and accept local currency then put up what you accept and from where you accept the local currency

If we have a solid network of people who accept and sell using sound money or local currency then we've got the New World Order beat at their own game. We have to build insulated, local economies to weather the economic storm coming. Contact me at runforron@gmail.com to join this network.

Ithaca Hours has one system

To find out I'm buying this book and DVD:
http://www.ithacahours.co...

They've been in operation since 1991-so far so good.

YES, we are already doing this, let's join forces

I am doing exactly this and have started so let's work together. We've been researching the community currency for about two years and we are rolling out two versions in several cities but that part is very slow on the ground face to face work. Local networks such as the Berkshares create self sustaining communities that only need USD for some tasks, local currency can fill in the rest.

I have a massive amount of data, papers and PDF's we are now sorting through and will complete this 'turnkey' program which can be distributed to any community and guide them through creation, promotion and ongoing marketing to make a successful CC. Please email me or SKYPE IM 'digitalcurrency' our ball is rolling here and we are very excited to get friends on board.

Our web going up for all CC's is http://www.mycommunitycur... just online last week.

My personal web to track and promote what I see, is http://www.mainstreetcash...

and the Community Currency monthly magazine will be here: http://www.ccmag.net for marketing and promotion of each local community I can give each their own issue. This magazine will be a flash version just like dgcmagazine. (below)

This is my magazine, http://www.dgcmagazine.co...

here is my CC archive (a OS version of DIGG) http://www.mainstreetcash...

I look forward to hearing from you and working with your group. We have two communities ready to go and have discussed with the printer costs on the notes, (we are designing them now!) We have also talked with the mint on creating some ingots 1,5 and 10 ounce silvers. (NO ROUNDS, COINS OR MEDALLIONS, ONLY SQUARE TYPE INGOTS)

This is a great way to make any community less reliant on foreign trade and chain stores. Buy it locally and build a stronger region.

Great idea of course but

Great idea of course but should we fear the feds confiscating the currency or arresting participants?

Not really that much exposed

If you print out precious notes It's not like you have to put it into a central depository like the liberty dollar. You could have it buried in the backyard. Or with in an urn marked "grandma's ashes"-you get the idea.

The Government can't confiscate something that it can't find. People can audit your notarized store of metal, but you'd have at least a week to retrieve it from wherever it's hidden.

I'm confused, you envision printing your own money to bury it?

Why don't you just print some money and bury it then? I have to admit, I am very confused about how a local currency could work unless you need nothing from outside the circle. Could you imagine having a customer pay you in their local currency and then you have to figure out what to do with it. And to think, I thought checks from out-of-state banks were a pain.

You don't need anything from outside the circle

That's the point of forming a network of businesses that can accept and trade in local currency. They can transfer in and out of FRN's depending on the rate of exchange. Local currency especially precious notes currency will outpace the worth of FRN's.

For a good book that explains this concept read "web of debt" by Ellen Brown. Her book emphasizes the government retaking control of its money-but if that isn't an option (and I don't think it will ever be an option with our government) then the only thing left to do is to make individual currency and circulate it.

I really want to get involved with something like this

It just doesn't make sense to me. I'm not naysaying, I truly don't get it. I'm very interested in more info.

They are already working in many cities, here is one example

http://www.berkshares.org...

Berkshares has 5 local credit unions that will exchange Berkshares paper. If you are a consumer and want to use the currency, you may buy all you want from one of the local banks, at $.90 on the dollar. 100 in Berkshares costs you $90 USD. Then you spend it locally for face value, you pick up a bonus 10% discount on your retail purchase for using Berkshares.
If you are the merchant, receiving the Berkshares and you accumulate a stack, you may offer them as change to shoppers at the check out, use them to pay employees, use them at your wholesaler to restock your shelves, or if you take in too many and cannot redistribute them you simply visit one of the credit unions and exchange back to USD. On the 'outexchange' you will lose .10 cents per Berkshare. You provide the bank teller 1000 in Berkshares, you receive $900 USD. In order to exchange through the local credit union you must have an account there.
It's legal to print your own money as long as it does not look like the real thing (USD) and it has a value of at least $1 per bill.

Here are some other pretty good ones, I like:
http://www.saltspringdoll...
http://www.baybucks.org/

http://www.torontodollar....
Ten percent of the Canadian dollars exchanged is put aside in a Community Fund for grants to community partners. Ninety percent is put in a Reserve Fund to back Toronto Dollar redemptions. Businesses can use Toronto Dollars for goods and services, or redeem them at 90% of their face value.

The same can occur for precious metals it's just a bit more difficult but I believe we have it worked out.
