How I First Met Ron Paul Revisited

Hello Michael, here are comments about your original post as there was no "reply" available on the old one.

In one of my earlier post, I told how I bought gold from “Ron Paul & Company” back in the mid-90s but I actually knew of Dr. Paul long before that. This article you wrote brought back some old memories. Some of you might like to have another prospective of just how rare an individual Dr. Paul really is.

This is a tale of 2 men; Dr. Paul and Alan Greenspan (from my perspective anyway). Many of you probably don’t remember Greenspan before he became Czar of the Federal Reserve. I have to tell you that in the mid to late 60s, AG was one of my heroes. He was an outspoken advocate of the “Free Market” and the rights of the individual over the State. Yes, I know this is hard to believe, but it is true. I was there!

You can imagine my shock and surprise when AG accepted the appointment to head up the FRB, which I knew he was highly critical of, at least at one time. At first I thought “good” maybe he will take down the FRB from the inside or at least try to control it.

Because I knew of his early days, I can’t help but believe he didn’t think of the fiat dollar as being backed by nothing. I think he believed that the dollar was actually backed by one of the greatest assets history had ever known; the wealth and productivity of the American People. What he didn’t take into account was that the only way this fiat system could work was to eventually confiscate those assets from their rightful owners. As time went by, I began to realize that maybe he was just “bought off”.

Now consider Dr. Paul. One thing I know for sure, he can be trusted! Not only that, but I also believe that he truly has our best interests at heart. I can imagine that through his many years of public service there were plenty of times that he could have taken advantage of his position, but his record proves he never did; I repeat, he never did!

If you check the history of these two men, you can see that unlike Alan Greenspan, Dr. Paul has never wavered from his support of the American people or our country’s potential greatness or what it means to be a man of his word. In today's political climate, that my friends, is a rare man indeed.
