Dr. Paul Introduces HR 833
Submitted by GalacticWacko on Wed, 02/04/2009 - 17:51
Representative Dr. Ron Paul has introduced HR 833 into congress entitled: To abolish the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System and the Federal reserve banks, to repeal the Federal Reserve Act, and for other purposes.
The bill has been introduced and referred to committee on Monday Feb. 3rd. Currently the bill does not have co-sponsors.
According to GovTrack.us, “This bill is in the first step in the legislative process. Introduced bills and resolutions first go to committees that deliberate, investigate, and revise them before they go to general debate. The majority of bills and resolutions never make it out of committee.”
This is where we as American citizens come into play. Americans that are interested in preserving liberty and restoring our republic to it’s constitutional roots need to contact our Representatives in Congress to push them into co-sponsoring this bill.

Now, we are getting somewhere...
Let's get at least 290 cosponsors and bombard Congress with DEMANDS for a vote.
Lets get the grassroots started, shall we?

End the Fed Campaign
I should disclose that I was once a federal government intern (the non-knee-pad-wearing kind, thank you). Moreover, I have spent the majority of my professional career in the global investment banking industry. Knowing what I know, I would like nothing better than to see the Federal Reserve shut its doors for all time.
I am very concerned, however, by the strategy that the End the Fed campaign has taken. Demonstrations can and occasionally do raise public awareness if, in fact, the mainstream media were actually covering them (other than Fox news, that is, and even their coverage is short and sporadic). They, however, are not. They are, in all reality, being quite silent on any and all such rallies, except when they show the demonstrators destroying local property or being tear-gassed. The message is completely lost, despite the earnestness of the participants. I would not be in the least surprised if, on November 22-23, we hear NOTHING on the major networks about the national demonstration to end the Fed.
Again, having worked for the government, I feel compelled to inform everyone how it really works...how to make their voice actually count and to stop wasting energy, namely;
EVERY congressman's office follows the same procedure for incoming emails, letters and phone calls: emails are literally counted and written down according to the subject matter. They are rarely read in their entirety. Someone is simply scanning them to find out what it is about and whether they are pro or con on the subject. They then mark the pro or con next to the subject line on a sheet. The sender's name is not entered anywhere. Their input is simply translated into a check mark on a spreadsheet.
Likewise, letters are handled in this same way. Letters, however, almost always receive a written response (it is almost always office policy, particularly if the letter requests a written response). This creates very real work for the Congressional staff. This work causes them to go to the Congressman, and bitch, making said rep aware of the growing trend.
Then there is the phone call. If you have a nationwide calling plan, the comprehensive costs of a phone campaign amount to a few hours of your time. (Letter writing campaigns can get quite pricey, and there is no guarantee that they will get through a deluge of mail in a timely fashion. Moreover, and this is just my own paranoia talking, Rockefeller is just itching for a good reason to get his "internet security" bill passed, and I would hate to give him that reason on the floor to get it through. Can you imagine some million emails coming into each Congressional electronic box? He would have a field day with that.)
Each Congressman, however, has his/her own phone line and the automated system will ask if you want to leave a message about your issue or if you want to speak directly with the staff. Always pick talking to the live person.
Again, the aide at the other end of the phone will ask what issue you are calling about. He/she will then ask your position (pro/con) and then tell you to have a nice day. It takes all of 20 seconds. They don't even ask your name or where you are calling from. (I know, because I have been calling down the list for the last few days!)
That aide, however, has a special sheet for phone calls. Phone calls seem to count more than emails because someone took the time and had the motivation to pick up the phone and contact their office. Like for letters and emails, the aide keeps a running tally on a spread sheet of everyone who has bothered to pick up the phone and call their office about a particular issue. Important to this type of campaign is that this, too, creates work for their office, but in a largely psychological way...if enough people participate, the phone is literally ringing off the hook ALL DAY, EVERY DAY, for weeks on end.
(A note on this: Campaign participants would do well to block their number while making calls, because the short-staffed offices might begin to screen for only those area codes originating from their home states.)
On the End the Fed website, I saw that more than 800,000 people had signed the online petition to end the Fed. If even 1/8th of those people were willing to go down the list of ALL the Congressmen and called each and every one of them, you cannot even begin to imagine the immediate impact this would have in the Congressional offices.
Here is a direct link to the Congressional phone directory: http://clerk.house.gov/member_info/mcapdir.html
It doesn't matter where they are from or who they represent. What matters is that we (1) make them aware of the issue and (2) get their vote.
Some in Congress will be ripping pissed about the phone campaign (I took great glee in calling some of the Congressional offices), while others would be glad to hear the support. These two extremes, however, are not the important players, as their minds are already made up on the subject of the Fed.
The important calls are to those in Congress who are actually clueless about the enormous power of the Fed, those who have never taken the time to consider the issue one way or another. It is THEIR vote that needs to be won. And no amount of picketing in the streets in front of Fed buildings is going to sway them in the campaign's direction. Why? Because they are never going to hear about it! They watch the same news that we do.
If, however, their office receives close to a million phone calls over the course of a few months, they ARE going to be very aware of the issue and that quite a few people want them to end the Fed NOW.
Can we work together to get those who signed the petition to pass HR 833 to get on board for a phone campaign?
I will do whatever is necessary to get this underway.
People can, of course, continue to attend End the Fed demonstrations, if that makes them feel better, but participation in a Congressional phone campaign will actually get your voice heard...and literally counted.
(By the way, even if HR 1207 or S 603 go through, the Fed will never turn over their information. This has happened in the past, and they have outright refused to provide that data, defying even direct, presidential orders. The real information will NEVER see the light of day. They have already started legal maneuverings to limit any and all release of data, should HR 1207 pass. They are way ahead of that game. Moreover, whenever audit was brought up in the past, the Fed did one of two things; they crashed the market entirely or, more frequently, they flooded the market with money and "recovered" the economy. The roaring 20's were a direct response to the threat of audit. When people are rolling in the dough, they don't think about the Fed. They very much know this.)
Yes!
I like the way you think. Nice response to this dated thread.
How about this...
We have Rep. Paul change HR1207 to include a clause that states that any attempt by the FED to not offer full disclosure after HR1207 passes will result in a freeze of the FED's ongoing operations and termination of its board of Governors.
I like it

I am outraged
I know this is long, but I'm fighting mad and sick and tired.
I am outraged at the government’s pillage of the American people. If the working class were to conduct themselves in such a manner, they would be locked up. Our “representatives” seem to believe that We The People are all stupid enough to believe the propaganda disseminated by the talking heads and dog and pony shows. The actions taken by our representatives are criminal at the very least, and certainly morally reprehensible.
My family and I have been productive members of society, paying our taxes and trying to live the American Dream. We have made investments and lost at times. No one was there to bail us out and this economic crisis has left us broken. The conduct of big business, the bankers and Wall Street thieves has stolen that dream not only from ourselves, but our children and grandchildren.
I am Mainstreet. I have worked for 32 years and my husband for 34 years, sometimes 2 jobs, to make ends meet and provide for our family. Now I look at my grandchild and fear for what kind of America we are creating for her and that whole generation in order to pay for the bankers and wall street’s bad investments. Our government is asking that my 76 year old widowed mother, myself, my children and my grandchild should have to pay for the mistakes of the “dream teams” and the elite, so they can continue to live their extraordinary life styles and collect outlandish bonuses for their inadequate jobs. If I were to perform in such a manner in the private sector, I would be immediately fired…no questions asked.
The initial $700B bailout (then porked up to $850B) received an overwhelming unprecedented response from the American People for their “representatives” to vote NO on the inflated bailout. Unfortunately, their “representatives” believed they knew better than the folks paying for the bailout or had special interests in its passing, voted to put the American People in debt for the bankers and Wall Street…..NOT MAINSTREET. Not a single dime was there to help Mainstreet and we are now being told to mind our own business when it comes to an accounting of where the dollars were spent. Imagine that! And the banks are not lending the dollars collected. Imagine that! Americans are losing their jobs at an extraordinary rate of half a million a month, can’t pay their bills, and their credit is now in the toilet. Who then is left to borrow?
My husband was laid off in November 2007 and we lost our home to foreclosure. The bank, serviced by Citi Bank, would not work with us….in fact, told us to “just send them the keys”. Our credit is now trashed. Now the house is up for sale for a third of what we paid for it. Why would they not work with us? We made a substantial downpayment on the house and carried a 70% loan. We did not use it as an ATM, and it was a handyman special that we were diligently bringing up to date. I will not get into the local government and how they tripled our property taxes, or the homeowner’s and flood insurance companies that raped us. There is enough greed to go around. Bottom line, working class Americans, their children and their grandchildren are expected to pay for the bad investments of the world bankers, who will tell them that they are not creditworthy enough to borrow any of it back. Imagine that.
END THE FED....abolish the IRS and get the hell out of my pocket.

Here is my email to him:
I respect you and support you in every way. I am very pleased that you do not support this bailout craze that has swept the world. I also follow and support Mr. Ron Paul from Texas very much so. I appreciate and agree with his constitutional stand. He has introduced H.R. 833 and here is a link to it http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=h111-833. Please review this bill and if you support this, which I pray you do, please co-sponsor this bill and help bring back our constitutional rights to this country.
Hopefully he will.

Harry Markopolos didn't give up
and neither is Ron Paul...Harry Markopolos, who tried to warn the SEC about Bernard Madoff, testified to Congress yesterday (Feb 4).
See www.house.gov/apps/list/speech/tx14_paul/AbolishtheFed.shtml for Ron Paul's speech of February 3rd when he introduced the bill.
It doesn't seem to be listed on Thomas yet, but Govtrack lists it here: http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=h111-833

testimony was amazing, yesterday.
I hope somebody can post it & bring it up into a active topic.

H.R. 25 (Fair Tax Act of 2009) has just been introduced with 40 signators.
Won't pass?
Maybe not. I will say though that the good Doctor is in a position when the time comes to remind the congress that he has done everything that he can do to address the real problems of the American people while they were perpetuating the big LIE. I see the good Doctor as an excellent chess player.
He is light years beyond the average congressmen. He has a plan. We would do well to follow his lead. I can't lead because I'm not smart enough, but I'm smart enough to follow someone that can obviously lead!

"Ideas have consequences." Ron Paul
It's from Don Quixote
... but doesn't really apply. Tilting at Windmills refers to attacking imaginary enemies. Our enemies here are anything but imaginary, unfortunately.
The Knights Errant part I like though. That's precisely what we need to be, and I agree with the poster here - near-certainty of failure should never be a reason not to attempt a thing. You make the attempt or you do not based upon the merit of the enterprise itself. All other considerations are little more than excuses.

to come forward about the Chemtrail operations that are killing you softly, Dr. Paul still remains quite to this day. I understand that the scumbags behind these spray operations most likely have threatened his life and or his family and that is why it is OUR duty to bring this topic to the forefront of discussion now before we are all to sick to care anymore.

This is the perfect time for Strategic Activism!
RP should make a video spelling out the people that need to be contacted to get this bill out of committee.
Then he should ask all of his supporters to contact these representatives urging them to vote it on to the next legislative step.
It's called strategic activism - using the power of the RP nation to bombard the specific people that can move this bill forward.
