NH: Affirming States' rights based on Jeffersonian principles

See the video of the testimony from the NH State House!
Rep Dan Itse tells the Committee how the Feds have overstepped their bounds and don't follow the Constitution.

Wonderful

positive news. Thanks

James Madison's Virginia

James Madison's Virginia Resolution was much better written than Jefferson's knee-jerk Kentucky Resolution.

They should be affirming the Madison princple, later expanded into the Report of 1800.

RP 2012 (What If?)

NH Rep on Glenn Beck via States' rights resolution

http://www.foxnews.com/vi... is the link to the video of NH Representative Dan Itse being interviewed on Glenn Beck's show yesterday. Apparently, the FSP website (freestateproject.org) was bogged down yesterday because of all the interest derived from the Fox News interview. Keep an eye on the Free State Project: major news such as this will be coming more prevalent in the future as more people move and provide reinforcements to the current liberty activists. I'll be there before summer.

Bump

So that everyone sees this & watches the videos. Thanks, Bill!

I wonder if other states

I wonder if other states (whom are hearing similar measures) will enjoy the same level of support that the activists in NH have given this revolutionary concept? This is just one of many things that Free Staters can look forward to participating in once they move. The FSP clearly takes no position on a matter such as this, but I'm sure the early movers' presence has helped the situation. Can't wait to be a part of it as I doubt Michigan (my home state) will muster any momentum other than "threatening" the Feds for more money.

Proud of New Hampshire..

I am so impressed with such a dedicated group who is so passionate and determined to do "something" about the government over reach, and usurpation of state's rights. That Richard Markel was especially "dead on" and quite persuasive and I laud him for his passion and commitment.
Well done, New Hampshire!

Consent of Governed

It seems that these reps understand (as is indicated in the NH Constitution) that the government is only legit when the people consent to be governed. Itse should seek higher office.

FURB says: "the government

FURB says: "the government is only legit when the people consent to be governed". Exactly!

As I have said before in other posts I hate to quote Hamilton since we know that he was an ardent Federalist, however this quote is directly pertaining to this situation.

Hamilton in The Federalist (No. 32) stated that "an entire consolidation of the States into one national sovereignty would imply an entire subordination of the parts; and whatever powers might remain in them would be altogether dependent on the general will. But as the plan of the convention [the Constitutional Convention of 1787] aims only at a partial union or consolidation, the State governments would clearly retain all right of sovereignty which they before had and which were not, by that act exclusively delegated to the United States."
He then went even further in No. 33, yielding that any acts of the Federal government that are not pursuant to the authority delegated to the Federal government by the states would be "merely acts of usurpation" and not deserving the authority of law.

Great Job People!!

All who participated you have my thanks for helping to repave the road to Liberty!!!

Fantastic!

This is fantastic. If you are alive and love liberty, New Hampshire is the place to be!

Great Hearing

I was the last to testify, so everybody else got to do the heavy lifting, and they were all great, even the ones I wasn't exactly aligned on. That the testimony was unanimous was also telling.

But what really got my attention was the palpability in the room of the sentiment that something needs to be done. Now. Finally. Here.

The grassroots are strong. And fed up.

Thank you, Bill...

All patriots applaud you and your fellows of New Hampshire for your passion and dedication to restoring state's rights.

The HCR 6 hearing was awesome! The fact that we have reps who truly understand constitutional government in New Hampshire is awesome!
