EU Bans Use of 'Miss' and 'Mrs.'

To my understanding, 'Mister and Miss' are proper terms acknowledging mature, provident personhood. Further, these are expressions of free humanity. Which official ordered this? Is a tyrannical # next?

I was less convinced about NWO fascism before, but this has disturbing implications

Consider this:

1. Men and women together, say at a restaurant, are often addressed as "guys" by the waiter or waitress. The word "guys" only applies to males. Gals refers to females. Ever heard of the play "Guys and Dolls".

2. Ms........or Mizzzzzz.....was created in the 1970's as some women wanted to consider themselves "liberated" (God only knows from what). Frankly, I think the word "Ms" is racist (who really cares if it is) as I have heard it mocks black people saying the word "Mrs".

3. The word chairman has largely been changed to the word "chair" or, back in the 80's "chairperson".

4. The morons in congress often address female members of Congress as, "the speaker recognizes the gentleLADY from Ohio for 5 minutes". Gentlelady? Where the heck did that word come from? It's lady or gentleman.....or Ladies and Gentlemen.

So why should we be surprised or even concerned about EU?

Well, I guess Number 123456 is going to be in style. :P

In Atlanta Georgia there has been a huge push to remove all signs which say "Men at work" because it is offensive-- sad but true!

I prefer "Commrade"!

Anyone who doesn't want the title of single or married has had the option of Ms. for as long as I can remember.

What title or no title should be personal choice. With the world collapsing around their ears, you would think the EU could find something a more important to worry about.

I don't disagree that the whole idea is a bit goofy, but the Daily Mail article doesn't do a good job of actually explaining (at least to the American audience) where this usage has been banned. This just applies to EU parliament politicians and their staffs with regards to official documents. Honestly, shouldn't our government regard us as "citizens" without concern for our gender and marital status unless they are dealing with a matter where those topics specifically apply?

Through history the masses have followed imbeciles. Case in point: In Australia a Santa has to say ha ha ha. Ho ho ho is against the law. (Think it's bad in the States… Sheesh!)

and this constant intervention in our lives really hacks me off. However, in principle, I am for this one. Why do we differentiate between married and single women? This does not apply to men - one title only. In Germany women over 18 are generally given the title "Frau" - whether married or not. Yeh - we should be allowed to choose if we wish to be addressed in a certain way but I do dislike the way we use the titles at present. ( I await a barrage of disagreement)

Freedom means choice, right? Women have a choice to sign their name as Mrs. or Ms. if married and proud of it (Mrs.) or feel it is noone's business (Ms.) If single, they have the same choice...if wanting their status known (Miss) or feel it is no ones business (Ms.)
So much for freedom of choice.

It's about time the colour pink was banned ahead of the other sex building space rockets

I agree with the EU...it's SO much easier to simply be addressed by our own truest most unique identification, our Uniform Commercial Code, UCC.

So they remove the titles and now have just gender-neutral. OK then, by that reasoning they would have to ban Man and Woman too.

Looks to me to be a prelude step to everyone calling each other "Citizen."
