Nailing the Declaration of Independence to the Court House door
Submitted by ODell Equip on Sat, 03/21/2009 - 09:08
My wife and I watched the movie "Luther" last week, and it gave me an idea.
Martin Luther, for those who don't know was a German monk, that started the protestant reformation by nailing his "95 theses" to the door of the church.
We have our own "95 theses", the Declaration of Independence. I propose that we post the declaration on the doors of our town halls, county court houses, state houses, state capitals, federal court houses, state and federal office buildings, the US house and senate, and the White House, (probably the gate, I doubt we could make it to the door).
On a particular date we all do this, we in the mean time enlist others to do the same, talk it up, call the papers, hit the net, call the TV stations. And once we have the date we all take the Declaration of Independence and we "nail" (tape) that sucker to the door.
Every town or city hall, every county court house, all the way up to the White House, across the whole country.
I have an idea, how about July the 4th 2009? We could get the logistics in by then, and the date does have some significance.

Good idea

I posted this idea back in March, any body want in now?
"What was taken from the boomers, it ain't there, what was taken from the X'ers it ain't there, what is being taken from their great, great, great squared grandchildren it ain't there. Some generation just has to have the guts to quit passing it on." Me
Tea Party People--Folks that want to be on the winning team, and just so happen to think that the republicans have cuter helmets and jerseys. Don't matter if the two teams always tie to them, they KNOW they really won.
Anyone? There is still time to do this.

Get enough people to do it on the same day, video tape and put it on youtube, or get the news to cover it and you might have something. This could be the next Tea Party! I'm sure you could get some news coverage by delivering the documents to every government building in DC. You may be on to something here.

Marvelous
Better do it soon..this economy could falter at any time...

A good idea. Yes it is symbolic but symbols are important and it get people thinking.

i'm in.
LOL
You guys crack me up. You think this jack-booted rougue elitist group listens to us. You think that they answer to the constitution? or liberties? or the bill of rights? Nope, they sure don't. While you tacking that to the door remember your tacking it to a UCC court. It's a commercial court and they damn well KNOW it. They don't care or recognize those documents and even if they did, your'e upholding the same document that was written in such a way it allowed them absolute powers via taxation and law making. In essence, your handing the same thing back to your children. That scares me. It has to be torn down brick for brick ppl and replaced with nothing.
Your despair serves nothing
Look in the mirror, that is your leader. Take action, do something, instead of whining like a crybaby....

Despair? The only despair
I have, is this site is half filled with trolls who get paid to keep you in chains. You call it whining, I call it the truth. Im not going to march up to the court house doors and tack up a document that was written to enslave us. Im not going to advocate that. Your constitution allows for taxation, a force with no end. Article 1 Section 2. Read It. It also allowed them to create the laws, and none of us have a say in that either. It's impossible for that document that created them, to voice an opinion for millions of people and make a laws so that everyone has a say. They do what they want and sell you a lie and everyone believes it. Everything you have been taught is a lie or a twisted half truth. What gave us this bloated blubberment? The constitution! What did we have before that? A Republic. You can't have both. I am going to do something. I am branching off of DP and going out in the real world with this message. People need the other side of the story. You would be better off painting a big fat -A- sign on the door. If you need to know what it looks like you can borrow my backpack.
I agree with you and so does Ron Paul and Spooner
Ron Paul was asked in this video at 3:55:
"What do you say to people who advocate self-government, rather than a return to the Constitution?"
Ron Paul responds: "Fine, I think that's really what my goal is."
Then he continues to talk about libertarians who want to opt out of government and he makes it clear that he supports it.
Spooner: But whether the Constitution really be one thing, or another, this much is certain --- that it has either authorized such a government as we have had, or has been powerless to prevent it. In either case, it is unfit to exist.
Of course they don't listen to us, that is the point
But, if enough people would get off of their ass, and cause a stink, the people would realize it. Sitting in your own little world screaming anarchy is just about the most pointless thing I can think of at the moment.

Here is the text, read it.
If you don't know the difference between the Declaration of Independence, and I what I assume you mean to be the United States Constitutiion brush up on it before you attempt to discuss it.
The point isn't to have the "jack booted thugs" listen to us, it is to get the people, the slaves, the serfs, in other words, 99.9% of the population to realize what the hell is going on, and listen to us. And, to piss them off and make them realize only the people can stop this mess.
Instead, of pissing and moaning about the lack of anarchy do something productive, get some publicity going and let's get this going.
I don't mean some little localized rally I mean every dang governement building with a banner of the Declaration on it. I mean it mailed to every government bureucrat from the dog catcher to the president. Put it in everyones face, post it at the malls, the ball parks, in your yard, everywhere.
Thank you Dr. Paul for making me act on what I already knew was right.

Nice idea, but I can see
Nice idea, but I can see them framing everyone as domestic terrorists and vandals.
Declaration of Independence
This is a pretty good idea. The 4th or the day Luther did it. Have to look into which day that was.
"A Declaration Bomb"
Hopefully it will be on a day that no flyers or junk mail are delivered, otherwise most bureaucrats, sadly, would not know the difference. :(
donvino
this has been brought up before...
but no one seems interested enough to do it.
2Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
Good thinking O'Dell!
Let's keep this thread active!
I was thinking
A billboard but this will do. The Lutherans will get it.
You've got a good idea, O'Dell.
Most folks don't know "jack all" about the constitution (especially our own congress) so , a few copies of mini constitutions for hand out would come in handy too.

How about
If we all mailed copies of the D of I and Constitution to each of our CONgress people (one rep and two senators each) on 7/4 with a copy of their oath of office which they pledged to uphold and defend the Constitution attached? I don't think the supreme court needs to be left out NOR the executive branch either. The investment would only be a few bucks for postage and stationary instead of putting the entire burden on a few. Our voices are small but can make a very LOUD noise if we all participate. I think the tea party idea is getting their attention and this could serve as a second "wave" of support.
An alternative would be a post card asking them why they have chosen to ignore the founding docs and the People. This would not be as effective on volume but the CONgress post office has to screen for anthrax, etc. these days and the post cards would likely get though easier. Asking for a reply would also be effective.
Just looking at options. The original idea is great but I would like to see it "personalized" a bit!
Let's do both
totally saturate them, through the mail, and on the doors.

Problem
If we've learned anything, I hope it's that we don't plan big events for the empty part of town on a federal holiday when not only is no one there to see it, except for on YouTube afterward, but the news crews are relying on their second string because it's a slow news day.
Courthouses and Capitols are buzzing on regular work days. I realize that this means we may be at work, ourselves, but I think these dead zones on weekends and holidays, though symbolic, leave much to be desired as a place to attract attention. We had rallies of thousands that nobody else saw during the campaign.
Better to rally near high traffic areas, like Disneyland, or the fairgrounds if it must be on a holiday.

Good point, very good point, let's make it the 2nd the day they

I think you need to alter it to get attention
It could be rewritten slightly by replacing the words "king" with "US Federal Government" and emphasizing states as opposed to colonies.
