The Campaign Responds to Mona Charen

Jesse Benton, Ron's communications director, has responded to the Mona Charen article that appeared in National Review Online. Among other things, he says:

"Mona, I can not expect everyone to support Dr. Paul, especially those who have sunk so much of their own credibility into supporting the Iraq war. In fact, Dr. Paul welcomes open and spirited discussions, and even legitimate criticism. But, I had to get a few things off my chest."

Its Very Clear Who Mona Really Works For...

I read Mona's column twice to be sure I could make a good judgement on where she's coming from. The poor woman is fully assimilated in the neo-con relm. She's bought and paid for by the true "evil doers", and is nothing more than a tool for them. What her column proves is that the NeoCons are getting scared. They are starting to sling mud. Its text book defense in a campaign. What is awesome is that the NeoCons and thier cronies are now on the defense. The Paul campaign must keep charging, hit them on their flanks! We will win in 2008!!!

Neo-cons are neo-cons

What I want to know is since when is "neo-con" a code word for Jews? That is classic new-speak. A neo-con is a neo-con. "Zionist" and, sometimes, "international banker" is a code word for Jews. A neo-con is a neo-con and they're dangerous. Now we're not supposed to mention them? Naturally I e-mailed the dumb twat to tell her a neo-con is a neo-con and a Jew is a Jew. A neo-con is not some made up bogeyman. The threat is real.

Time to respond

I think this was an ideal time and opportunity to respond, and I salute Jesse and the campaign for doing so. Of course, I wish there had been fewer grammatical errors (e.g. "with a candidate who will bring hope troops form Iraq"), but Jesse saw an opening with a somewhat established media figure who had made outrageous statements. Personally, I wish they had hit back hard against the likes of John Gibson and Michelle Malkin, but I understand that the timing was not right.

We'll probably see more of this, but I hope the responses will come from quasi-official surrogates or folks under Benton. A serious contender for the presidency shouldn't have his communications director doing this kind of detailed heavy lifting, particularly when stories are popping up about poor media relations and missed opportunities (e.g. the Philadelphia rally). The big-wigs have more people handling communications, so I don't fault the very busy Benton. As the campaign grows I expect it to hit all the bases.

I say it's time to respond to Bobby Eberle

Remember his arrogant, condescending, biased piece?
"To Ron Paul Supporters: Civility is Essential"
http://www.gopusa.com/the...

I would like to ask Bobby:

Sir, what's your take on Mona Charen's rant against Ron Paul?

- Does it put Mona in a good or a bad light?

- Does a rant like hers hurt the Republican Party overall?

- When she compares Congressman Paul with kooks, nazis, antisemites, conspiracy nuts and davidians, would you say Mona is displaying any sense of civility, decorum, and common manners?

- Is it alright to spread out lies like saying "Ron Paul wants to eliminate the IRS, the CIA, the FBI and other government agencies within weeks of taking office"?

- Would you describe Mona's rant as professional and polite? Or is it not "filled with name-calling and attacks"?

- Are any of these -slurs-?: "kooky, unserious, ridiculous, cozy with kooks and conspiracy theorists, candidate of racists, neo-Nazis and conspiracists, a dandy new leader for the Branch Davidians."

Ron Paul supporters want input and discussions (i.e: debate). We also ask for civility and professionalism and something more than just pimping for ANY candidate. Unprofessional and profane behavior does not advance ANY candidate's cause. In fact, it hurts ANY candidate.

IS MONA CHAREN GUILTY OF THAT? Ball's in your court, Bobby.

Expecting a single standard IS

Kinda fun. But the expectees sure do get angry when we call them on double-standards. I know...

Let's talk about real kooks.

There was a time in the past when a bunch of kooks decided they were not going to take the abuse from the establishment anymore. They all signed the Declaration of Independence knowing they could get hanged for it. You have to be nuts to do something like that right?

King George III in turn declared them traitors to the Crown. Many kooks captured by the British expected to be hanged. What a bunch of kooks. They did not even have SGLI back then. What the hell were they thinking?

These kooks still went on to fight. Even though they had no direct deposit, no credit cards, no email and no internet. How did they pay their bills? Snail mail? Insane.

At the expense of being considered rude and intolerant these kooks eventually won their independence. Ever since then, for some strange reason I can't figure out, people from around the world want to come and live with these kooks. They must be even kookier or just neokook.

Therefore I can only conclude that America is mostly a nation of kooks who believe in the vision of the original kooks with some neokooks sprinkled in to take the edge off.

Now the kooks need someone to represent them again, apart from the neokooks.

Who could that person be?

I would not wasting my time

I would not waste my time on this lying beach.

Yeah!

What he said!

I'm so glad to see a response to this nonsense come from the campaign. We grassroots supporters can rebut this stuff till our fingers fall off, but it doesn't pack half the punch that hearing it from RP staff does! I think that should just about put the neo-nazi crap to rest... Thanks for posting it, Jane!

Thanks

It's typical poor journalism based on innuendo, hearsay and gossip. It is not very well researched and quite snobby...

I guess people don't care about being sued these days because I've also had to 'instruct' quite a few web authors on the fact that calling Ron and the rest of us 'fraudsters' and 'scammers' and questioning the validity of our recent $4.3M haul due to the raid, might simply be risky, since no crimes were charged and as far as I know, it's not illegal to buy and collect precious metals and use them for barter.

Some actually suggested publicly that Ron owned the company, printed the 'counterfeit' coins, then had people donate them! (Donna Brazile, ugh!)

Some suggested that people were suing Von Nothaus and not the government who raided him.

But the spate of articles coming out in support, asking why Disney can do this and not VonNothaus is encouraging as were the people from major financial shows (Kudlow, Lufkin, Forbes, etc) praising the idea that we need gold-backed currency to protect our dollars.

As Don Lufkin said about Ron's financial acumen: "Bravo, BRAVO, bravISSIMO!"
