How is Law enforcement benefiting the people?

To protect and to serve is a motto associated with law enforcement. Remember TV shows like One Adam 12 where the police actually protected and served the people. Protect and to serve was actually printed on police vehicles.
Law enforcement is trained to take control of any situation; even in situation where it would be best for law enforcement to stay passive. We see more and more abuse of officers using questionable and or criminal actions to take control.
Is the St. George, MO area we find an officer abusing his authority, threatened to “make up” charges to arrest a man. http://www.thenewspaper.com/news/19/1961.asp Unbeknown to the officer this person had a video recording system in his vehicle. Another St. Louis area officer pleads guilty to planting evidence and 4 other felony offenses. http://localgovwatch.blogspot.com/2009/02/st-louis-cop-plead....
On the internet you can find a large number of incidents of law enforcement abuse of authority ranging from law enforcement making a false arrest; a police officer assaulting a person, to murder; as in the case of Oscar Grant, where a Law enforcement officer shoots Grant in the back. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0OJTa9F2O14
With the age of cell phone videos and other people recording law enforcement officer activities more law enforcement officers are being caught in criminal actions and abusing their authority. There has been enough police misconduct with has spurn the formation of Cop Watch, http://gnn.tv/videos/11/CopWatch a loosely organized group of citizens who watch and video police activities. This organization can help law enforcement by video suspects conduct or they can be detrimental to law enforcement by exposing abuse.
Law enforcement takes an oath to support and obey the constitution. Some officers don’t have a clue to what the constitution says. A few law enforcement officers want to be in law enforcement to be able to carry a badge and a gun with disregard to a person’s rights and well being.
There is a larger group of officers who will follow out orders with no regard to their oath or to questioning of the constitutionality of those orders.
Too Many police officers who break the law or violate a person’s rights are not held accountable to the same law; complaints against law enforcement are dealt with internally, usually privately with no criminal charges being brought against the police officer for criminal conduct and the victim being told they are lucky to not be arrested.
Are the police benefiting the people or are they simply trying to raise revenue with traffic cameras, citations and carrying out unconstitutional orders. When was the last time law enforcement made contact with you with out them be summoned; stopping you for an infraction; or wanting to question you about a crime? Are police serving the people or are they serving an out of control government?

The only people who benefit from 'law' enforcement...
...are the ones who rob and steal from us all at gunpoint.
They do a little bit of
They do a little bit of both.
Ventura 2012
95/5
95% revenue collection and being jerks and maybe 5% responding to situations where protecting and serving would come up. Actually I can't think of many incidents where they do much of anything to help people. Settle disagreements? What else?
A recently graduating class of police cadets picked their motto
"PTSD: Don't get it, give it."
How f'd up is that? And the turds on patrol here live it, too.

Understand this is the BS story the cops came up with. When the truth finally came out (very quietly) it turned out the boy never got near the cop, the cop never warned him, and the father was screaming "Don't shoot, there are no bullets" the entire time.
