Actually, you are wrong. Jim DeMint is a GREAT
representative. I have written to him numerous times and he is ALWAYS on the same side that we are on. He voted against Bush's bailout too. Please do some research before
you judge him. His record is very acceptable.

DeMint stirred controversy during debates with Tenenbaum when he stated his belief that openly gay people should not be allowed to teach in public schools. When questioned by reporters, DeMint also stated that single mothers who live with their boyfriends should similarly be excluded from being educators. He later apologized for making the remarks without specifically retracting their substantive claims, saying they were "distracting from the main issues of the debate." He also noted that these were opinions based on his personal values, not issues he would or could deal with as a member of Congress.[2]
DeMint has since re-tooled his anti-homosexual rhetoric as a public health initiative. In an interview on NPR's Diane Rehm Show on January 31, 2008, he cited the prevalence of certain diseases among homosexuals as his reason for opposing gay marriage, but did not explain how marriage would facilitate the spread of those diseases.

Let Gubberment work?
As long as the gubberment has the absolute power of taxation, via the CONstitution, it will NEVER work. I agree with him however about stopping all the waste and the TAXES and let america function, could he actually be talking about the free market? Of course then he is out of a job, and so is half of America.

DeMint is well-intentioned himself
but too soft. Way too soft. Stop with the "soft" languague around "good intentions" and speak about "violations", oxymoronic "forced volunteerism", extortion of earnings from one group to another, the illegal borrowings this program requires to operate, and on and on. Damn!!! Where are the men????????????????????????? This republic is going up in flames and we have senators gently pointing out the weakness of the paved road to hell????????????????????????????

The thing that kept crossing my mind was this: (mind you, i know that we are in the DP minority by sending our kids to public school)...anyway, i have witnessed the tightening of attendance rules over the years. Now, if a child misses ONE day it is an UNEXCUSED absence without a doctor's note. This caused me to wonder why parents are no longer considered credible sources for making decisions on their childrens' well-being. WHY? Aside from the fact that it feeds into the medical industrial complex, I discovered that schools that have higher attendance numbers receive larger sums of funding. Therefore, warm bodies in buildings = money.
Volunteer work will be more of the same. Whichever group has the most warm bodies will receive the most funding. Recruitment and then Enforcement, courtesy of The Corporation

Good speech. It is sad to know that Senate chamber was probably empty, just like when Dr Paul speaks in the House chamber. I would like to see Congress enact a self imposed rule, that when anyone of their members are speaking, nobody is allowed to leave until all speakers have spoken. It's just plain wrong and very rude of them to leave when their members are speaking.
