Tea Party Open Thread - Where did you go? What did you see?
Submitted by Michael Nystrom on Fri, 04/17/2009 - 01:27
Here's a shot from yesterday at the Boston Common:

I'd say we had about 500 - 1000 people on the Boston Common, in front of the statehouse with the gold dome and right across the street from the local Fox affiliate. It was great to see the old Ron Paul crowd together again! I talked to a lot of people, and people are mad! Mad and afraid for our country. Something big is brewing, and the MSM is completely missing the boat on what is happening.
Stay alert and stay tuned. Revolution is in the air.
Rand Paul will be speaking at the Bowling Green, KY Tea Party
(Any word on where Ron will be?)
They made the local paper with this article.
I'll be down at the Boston Statehouse with petitions for the Committees of Safety. There is a list of nation tea parties at ReTeaParty.com. Mass residents - check out the MassLPA.org for up to date local news & events.
What do you plan to do? Paul Krugman says it is a purely Fox News organized / Astroturf event. Our news media is so segregated, and this is what the other half (the half that most of us don't read) think.
The most important thing is what do you guys think? If you plan to go, please let us know where you're going, and give us links to any stories on the tea parties from your local media below.

Fort Lauderdale Tea Party 4/15/09
This is what we did in Fort Lauderdale. I never thought we would get this much of a turnout. And, I am so impressed with all of the different people: young, old, black, white...
you'll see.
We are ready for more...

In truth,
Federal Courthouse
The gathering was in front of our Federal Courthouse right downtown. The traffic made it an even bigger event since it was scheduled right in the heart of rush hour.
Lots of noise, lots of publicity, but our worthless Sun-Sentinel (Sun-Slant-inel) gave us minimal space on news. typical.

In truth,
MSM helped our cause
The MSM helped our cause. We now have the potential of 10 times as many attending constitutional workshops and other workshops to educate people. They are ripe for the information. I wish you would all stop it with this neocon stuff... it is not about leaders but about people, educating them one at a time. In order to do this, getting them in one place is a good start.
You will see a lot of them 'got it' at our tea party in NH, here are some photos which include many people holding signs about the constitution, banks, and sovereignty, which is the key to the whole matter... when I mentioned that the Federal Reserve is a private bank who answers to no one but who runs the country and that now Obama just handed our economy over to the foreign world bankers as it were at the G20, they understood. I did not get any strange looks of confusion...
Now we have MSM videos of Kissinger praising Obama for bringing in the 'world order' (that blows the two party theory out of the water) and of Greenspan explaining to an interviewer how the Fed answers to no one.
Check out some of these:
http://s193.photobucket.com/albums/z229/andy58-in-nh/TeaParty/
It's an opportunity that NONE of you should have passed up.
Of course the lefties are so ingrained in defending Obama they don't want to hear or understand what just happened at the G20 to pave the way for the global currency so they can't even answer to that but you will always have this partisanship to fight.
You must keep on keepin' on so to speak!
Buffalo, NY - Restore the Republic - Tea Party
We had a great event yesterday in Buffalo, NY! About 400 people. We weren't about taxes and such. Check out our program agenda for what we put together. Protest march then back to a club for the inside event with educational video's and speakers. The crowd was fired up to the max! We had em roaring.
I asked the people, how many of them know what an oligarchy is. About 10%.The Forms of Government from Overview of America was played first. The people were riveted to the tv's and screen. I mean, like hypnotized. My girlfriend went to get us some beers but didn't want to leave the bar area and walk through the crowd because the place was packed and everyone was just standing there, watching.
After that we had a Lenny Roberto from www.PrimaryChallenge.org come up to speak. Talk about power and passion. He explained about gerrymandering, fusion, district, becoming committeeman ....
Next we showed the "Join With Us" video that was put together. There were tears in eyes, and this was not a mellow video. The place was ours. It was great. (where can i upload this video to, Youtube disabled the audio)
We had numerous request for the videos, and whats next..
The G. Edward Griffin video from the Revolution March, Karl on fiat currency, Money - a Brief History of Money video. Jim on Restoring the Republic and Joe on Preparing for an Economic Collapse.
Our 5' Campaign for Liberty banner was on the front of our speaker platform. We handed out an assortment of literature, all the dvd's went, republic magazine. We had a money - loss of purchasing power banner made.
Rus Thompson opened his speaking time with "What a great day for a Revolution!"
Pictures coming.

We could all go and have lunch and bring teabags..I was okay and you think this will accomplish what ?
I don't think they held it...

Rogers Mayor Steve Womack was in the crowd listening to speakers on Wednesday. "It's good to see people riled up," Womack said. "They have a right to be."

Wow! Check out the Associated Press photo in Lansing, MI ...
There's a guy holding up a sign reading THE FEDERAL RESERVE IS A PRIVATE BANK THAT OWNS AMERICA. It is clearly legible in the photo.
For some reason, we're expected to know every law that exists in America & in our state so we don't break it. We're supposed to know this when we're 18. There's no litmus test for them, as in the 10 commandments or rhyme or reason. C.U.R.E. Bugs are c

Tabling at the Tea Party
Greetings Paulistas,
Wednesday at the downtown Santa Ana, Ca Tea Party we unveiled our Campaign for Liberty Table Display. About 20 of us crashed the Tea Party armed with, signs, C4L brochures, slimjims, 1000 HR1207 flyers, pocket Constitutions, Freedom to Fascism DVD, C4L stickers and bumper stickers--we where loaded with materials. And do you know what? This type of activism works!!!
The link here http://ronpaul.meetup.com/1550/photos/?photoId=8183506&photo... includes some pictures of yesterdays event -table display included. I will have better pics of the display taken and perhaps video.
The angry and dismayed crowd where grasping for whatever hope they can hang their hats to. These people-young and old flocked to our table for 2 ½ hours. We signed up 42 people who had genuine interest in our little lobby, and we also managed to get more people to sign the End the Fed petition. Now, many are hearing Dr. Paul's enlightening message, and it feels good to have made this happen.
This type of activism should not end, and we, like St. Paul (that other saint of old) MUST continue spreading the message by getting involved in these types of events. Judging from yesterday's response, the general public is ready for it or very close to ready.
We can take this country back one neighborhood, city, county, and state at a time.
Yours in freedom
People are damn mad
and this gives them something constructive to do with that anger. Good job.

Response from Appleton, WI Congressman
In response to Appleton, WI Tea Party (This is an excerpt of what) Steve Kagen (D) had to say in response to our Tea Parties: (Economic Stimulus Plan) "It allows us to transform our economy... and invests our hard-earned tax dollars right here at home... I am confident it will begin to put us on the path towards economic recovery."
Folks, we are in big trouble. As I predicted, they (The Communists) are Laughing at us.
I do believe it is 11:00 PM, it is time to start final preparations.

Bakersfield, CA 4500 according to news reports
4500 people showed up! I was fortunate to have had the chance to be an organizer. The minority leader of the Republicans, John Boehner showed up with Congressman McCarthy (who is on the House Financial Services Committee). The day before they had asked to speak and we respectfully declined, it was time for the people to speak to Washington, not Washington to speak to us. There were some neo-conservative speakers allowed, the radio personalities who helped us promote the event (they promoted it as theirs...lol). It was a huge success. I spoke about HR 1207 and gathered so many signatures I could not count them yet. And, my Congressman was there to hear the speech. I discussed the history of central banking in the US and how our forefathers warned us about the dangers and how this third central bank has caused the crisis. The crowd roared to many points. I was cut short however during my speech due to being infiltrated at the last minute by a 'helper'. LONG story. But, there is a rEVOLution brewing here in central Cali and the grassroots is strong now. We will continue. Here is the email Congressman McCarthy had to send me a few hours before I spoke, after we had such huge momentum:
Dear Leslie:
Thank you for contacting me in regards to H.R. 1207, the Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2009. Like you, I agree that government needs more accountability and transparency.
As you know, H.R. 1207 would eliminate restrictions on GAO audits of the Federal Reserve and open Federal operations to enhanced scrutiny. H.R. 1207 was introduced in the House on February 26, 2009 and referred to the House Committee on Financial Services, which I am a member of. Currently, the committee has not scheduled legislative hearings on this bill, and the bill has not been brought to the House floor for a vote. As your Representative in Congress, be assured I have noted your comments and will keep them in mind as the legislative process continues.
Thanks again for contacting me on issues of importance to you. If you would like additional information on services my office can provide you, my votes and positions on issues facing our nation, and to subscribe to receive periodic "e-newsletters," please visit my website at http://kevinmccarthy.house.gov/.
PLEASE WATCH THIS VIDEO WITH BOEHNER AND MCCARTHY PRESENT
Here is my speech about H.R. 1207. I was an organizer of the event. There are juicy pictures and I must say my speech was well received and we gathered hundreds of petitions for H.R. 1207. Congressman McCarthy showed with John Boehner, the House minority leader. They both asked to speak and we declined. Here is an article about that: http://people.bakersfield...
Please watch this video, rate it, spread it, I need my congressman to hear the call and for the local public here to see this video. THANKS

Do not get Suckered
I know eveyone is trying to be positive and hopeful. Please remember that the only way Communism to work is to Lie and be Deceptful. What would the reasoning be here? A.) Next year is an election year.
B.) They are trying to buy more time until they pull the lever and Whamo! They are all full of sh it and Liars! The last thing a Government does before it becomes a Totalarity State Run Government is to Steal all of the money and property, (See G20 and Foreclosures), then shut down the banking system, then convert to a new currency (See Hitler-Nazi Germany, Joseph Stalin, Karl Marx of the USSR).
The empty foreclosed homes will taken by the Obamaunism Backers (Government Employees loyal to) and Thugs to live in.

Everett, Wa.
300-400 people. A sea of Gadsden flags. Most of the speakers were pro-war, pro-torture, pro rendition, anti-liberty neocons. 1 speaker was good, and spoke passionately about the debt and spending, and liberty.
Overall, the controlled opposition succeeded in watering this event down. CFL had a big presence, but that was not reflected in the majority of the speakers.
The best thing about it is that many neoconned people got exposure to a very nicely supplied CFL table. There is a window of opportunity to reach out to these folks. Don't waste it by bitching about how much Glenn Beck sucks. We know already. Now get out there and engage neocons and neolibs. Explain to them that Glenn Beck and Keith Olbermann are tools and corporate shills, and that they need to turn off the TV, and read.
Lastly, ACORN was there. I saw people who were obvious infiltrators asking to take my picture and tell me if they were not from a news paper, yet refused to say who they were with.
Edit: All the neocon speakers touted reducing the income tax rates, flat tax, or fair tax. They still do not get it on eliminating the federal income tax and replacing it with nothing.
2 Postings Regarding Cleveland, OH
Cleveland, OH –
I had a professional 4’ x 5’ sign with Ben Bernanke on the front,I found the sign on DailyPaul. It called for the Audit of the Federal Reserve with the statement of “The last official act of a government is to loot the country.”
It would gather looks like I couldn’t believe. I had 150 C4L audit the fed pamphlets, had a speech prepared regarding the Federal Reserve that lasted 30 seconds. People would come up to me and ask for a picture with the sign with their children, parents, and friends. I passed out every single one of the pamphlets I had.
When someone would ask to take a picture with the sign I would let them, but only under one condition. That condition was to just listen to me for 30 seconds after the picture. They would take the picture and I would launch into my speech along with C4L handouts. When I would start my speech, the ones around me would stop listening to the speakers and would gather around me to hear what I had to say.
Shortly after talking, dozens of hands would appear grabbing for the flyer. I blew through the flyers within 15 minutes and people of all ages and races and political backgrounds would thank me and tell me to never stop what I am doing.
Thankfully I ran across, completely by chance, about 20 different C4L members in the crowd and End the Fed signs galore. One of the fellow liberty members had extra flyers for HR 1207. I believe I was given an additional 100 and those were passed out within 30 minutes.
Of course, when I ran out of signs, I would have people snap pictures and I would still ask for 30 seconds of their time. So they had the HR 1207 picture to refer to.
Hell, I even ran across and old high school teacher of mine over 12 years ago. He will never forget what he learned today as he knew of nothing about the Federal Reserve.
By the way, I ended up on Rachel Maddow’s show on April 9, I believe. You can see the video here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=19jfGsvk40A and I pop up around 3:20 screaming, “Who wants to print some money?!?!! I want to print some money. The Federal Reserve can, why can’t I!!?!?!?!” It is quite funny. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=19jfGsvk40A
She mocked me a bit and I would surely love the opportunity for her to have me on a telephone interview. She was questioning why would people actually question the Federal Reserve? I mean the insanity!
If you feel like bugging Rachel one day to perhaps let her have an average citizen explain why the Federal Reserve is important issue to the every day American, please feel free to email her about the “Who wants to print some money” guy. She can be reached at Rachel@msnb.com.
Another update from Cleveland -
Just an FYI for those who may like to know...
With the efforts of quite a few of our members from several northeast
Ohio Campaign For Liberty MeetUp groups that attended tea party
events all over the northeast section of Ohio, and stood outside in some
not so nice weather at several post office locations, as well as set up a
table here and there to pass out literature and educational material...
I am proud to be able to tell you all that we managed to distribute the
following list of materials today.
(1) Over 1000 DVD copies of America Freedom To Fascism
(2) More than 1500 "Your Fired" PINK SLIP pre-addressed post cards.
(3) Another 2000 "IT'S TEA TIME" pre-addressed post cards.
(4) Plus over 1000 T.E.A. Taxed Enough Already pre-addressed post cards.
(5) Well over 2000 End The FED tri-fold double-sided handouts.
(6) More than 500 of the We The People tri-folds.
(7) 200 business size promo cards for the upcoming End The FED rally.
And that is only the items that I "know" about for sure because I handled
almost every one of them at least once myself.
But it never could have happened without the dedicated help of so many
of our members from so many of the northeast Ohio groups.
And I want to thank ALL of you that helped make it happen. No matter what part
you played in this great event. From those who were out and about to those
who helped fund the whole happening from behind the scenes. THANKS!
I believe we reached out to a lots and lots of people today in oh so many ways.
And from what I could see in the eyes of America today...She is awakening.
Now.
Let's get ready for April 25th.
It is time to END THE FED!!!
If you are not signed up already...DO IT NOW!
The Cleveland group is already one of the largest groups out there.
We are getting closer to being the largest group in the country.
Can we do it? Time will tell.
A far cry from the sixteen members we had just about a month ago.
Check it out.

Someone had to inject a little truth into the mix.

of the crazy guy with the huge sign, that would be me of course, please email it to me at tgandee@myhelio.com.
The GOP Neocons that took over Cleveland has not posted one of those pictures and I don't see any pictures of all of the End the Fed signs I saw.
Damn necons are as bad as the liberals. If anyone thinks there are two parties in this country, they are dead wrong.
By the way, 5,000 people were there according to news reports and I believe that to be an honest assessment. However, the news reported that much of this was just anti-Obama. Ugggggg!!!!

math
was talking to a friend and IF there were about 2000 parties (not ALL of them were on the 15th either) and there's an average of 1500 per party... then that's well over 3 Million people
And since I just pulled those #'s out of thin air (just glancing at the #'s), if I cut that in HALF, it's Still over a Million People, that's more than the million mom/man/whatever march.
And if 1 person showing = a group of people who didn't show... wow.

...a local talk show host, Garret Lewis of 1230 AM Waco was telling me not to political stump, as he knows I plan to challenge [as a libertarian...no chance] the Waco legislative district's state rep next year...
...well, just as he was trying to prep me 'not to stump' my friend was behind the mic stumping for me, while this was going on. When my friend was finished, I got my turn, and I went through a 5 minute litany of Jefferson's opinions on debt-based banking. The crowd roared like hell.

Boston had two Tea Parties
I went to both. What a grand time! I couldn't hear speeches because I was too far back in the crowd, but there were so many people to talk to, it didn't matter. My only complaint was that it was too cold! Boston is windy, especially down by the waterfront where the second party was held, the better to dump the tea into the harbor.
I brought a sign that had lots to read on it, as well as Michael's two Audit the Fed posters. I noticed people taking multiple photos, I assume so they could read it later. One side said this:
In the beginning . . .
There were no towns, just families,
There was no state, just towns,
There was no nation, just states...
Then . . .
families made towns,
towns made states,
states made a nation . . .
In 1913 a few men, just a few,
made the Federal Reserve System,
and the Congress, the one
that the families and the towns
and the states depended upon to uphold the law,
let them do it, and so
something quite beyond
our control, beyond the
control of even our Congress,
took over the Lives and Liberties of
WE, the Families,
that make the Towns,
that make the States,
that make the Nation . . .
It is time to AUDIT the FED,
at least that for now . . .
and then to END the FED,
to take back what is ours . . .
Life, Liberty, Pursuit of Happiness, and Peace . . .
and the other side said this:
From The Constitution of the Commonwealth of
Massachusetts . . .
Article V
All power residing originally in the people, and being derived from them, the several magistrates and officers of government, vested with authority, whether legislative, executive, or judicial, are their substitutes
and agents, and are at all times accountable to them .
Article XVIII
A frequent recurrence to the fundamental principles of the constitution, and a constant adherence to those of piety, justice, moderation, temperance, industry, and frugality, are absolutely necessary to preserve the advantages of liberty, and to maintain a free
government . . .

Please add BAKERSFIELD, CA 2000-4500 according to different
reports.
Here is an article about that: http://people.bakersfield.com/home/Blog/politicsanyone/43685
Please watch this video, rate it, spread it, I need my congressman to hear the call and for the local public here to see this video. THANKS

I don't see any MT listings. We had tax day rallies all over the state. Why no mention on your list ? What site is that from ?
Add Montana to the list, We are not funded by Fox and didn't get any astroturf for standing in the cold.
Not as bad as last year 4-15 it was snowing on us, some of the Montana rallies had that this year.

The total is much higher
Many of the smaller events didn't make the list.

Springfield, Il
I estimated the crowd outside the Illinois State Capitol to number close to 1000 if not a little more at some points.
If we don't change our direction, we're likely to end up where we are headed.

The Constitution
Could never be restrained by the people. The constitution allowed for absolute taxation and law making by an elitist class. Taxation is a force and it cannot be justified. It is not a free system. You will never have limited gov, unless the people use force/war at some point. The process must repeat over and over to remain limited. Seems kind of moot, don't ya think?
Lancaster PA is not on the list
They had about 800 turn out in the pouring rain. Jim Compton, who is a member of the Harrisburg Campaign for Liberty and the one leading the fight against Real ID in this state, was one of the speakers.
Harrisburg PA; 1500+. Rep. Sam Rohrer was one of the speakers (I really wish he'd run for guv). Unfortunately, most of the rest of the speakers were neo-cons.
We passed out about 200 AFTF DVDs, Invites to the End the Fed in Philly and invites for the Harrisburg Campaign for Liberty meetup. People were sponges - same as someone else put it. I wish we had more to hand out.
Later that evening we went to the main post office in H-burg along with the Libertarians and passed out 150+ gift bags with DVDs and literature to the cars in line to hand in their taxes.
Keep waking 'em up folks...let's make their "list" grow so large it's unmanagable!
wonderful*)
I hear there were over 700 tea parties in total

Polson MT
We had a good turn out on a cold and windy rally for a small community.
Even got some local press coverage, with less spin than what I've seen from other coverage.
http://www.kpax.com/Global/story.asp?S=10193941
Wednesday's chilly and windy weather didn't stop nearly 300 people from turning out in Polson to express their passionate distaste for over-taxation and excessive government spending.
People of all ages hoisted American flags, held signs, and some even stood up on a podium in Riverside Park to talk about the importance of taking action and being heard.
One retired man who got up and spoke to the large crowd at the Lake County "tea part", saying he is representing those who had certain expectations heading into retirement. David Myerowitz said those expectations are being taken away by the government because of financial irresponsibility.
"It's a combination of government incompetence and corporate greed that got us to this point, and we are tired of it" commented Myerowitz. "If the government is going to continue with the same garbage year after year, Republican and Democrat, we need to get rid of them, and get new people in there, and that's what we are saying."
Several of the protesters we talked with say they hope that Wednesday's tea party protests will make waves in D.C., and they don't plan on stopping until they are heard.
