The Need to Educate the "Tea Party" Attendees
In the Sixties, various radicals (Jerry Rubin, Abbie Hoffman, Tom Hayden and others) made it their business to instruct the protesters on civil disobedience; what to do and how to do it. There were still fights and arrests, but many of the people at sit-ins learned to link arms so the police couldn't lift them up.
That was 40 years ago and the movement was fairly successful: at least the war ended and Nixon was out. Pot remains illegal, however.
In my previous post about the Tea Parties, one of the posters and I were in 100% agreement: Those who attend the Tea Parties need to get good, correct, information. It's not a matter of just showing up, carrying a sign and yelling. It's the ability to articulate the various reasons for the protests. Using Ron Paul's messages as a hand-out, this would go a long way.
If it were possible to have a pre-Tea Party gathering, so the crowd could get informed, this would be excellent preparation. So many Americans are disaffected, frustrated and angry, but - often - don't know what the heck they are talking about. This presents a clear opportunity for Paul Supporters to meet them and to explain the various positions that Ron Paul has stood for, going back 20 years.
Organization works. Implementing organization is difficult, since you never know who will show up. This might be a good time for the Meetup groups to re-form. They, for the most part, know Ron Paul and his position. Spreading Paul's message could go a long way toward sharpening the focus of the tea parties.

Agree!
That is just what we did at ours. Pre-organized and post-organized. People had to RSVP to the local groups that sponsored, that is how we know the numbers.
We had a 'rules of engagement' file on behavior, but frankly, there was not one incident of violence or racism across the country so I think this crowd can be trusted.
It's a lot different from the William Ayers types who listened to his advice from the Weather Underground in 1970 to "Kill all the rich people. Break up their cars and apartments. Bring the revolution home. Kill your parents, that's where it's really at."
We continue to do a little community organizing of our own. We are nice people.. We are not violent despite Janet Napolitano's bogus 'report' that conservatives and constitutionalists are to be feared more than Al Qaeda.
