Here is more proof that we are living in a nation of sheep.
What gets me more so than the gross display of police brutality is the fact that all of those people did nothing but stand around and call the cops names, while shooting videos on their personal cell phones, etc. How macabe.
All of them together could have easily overwhelmed those three "peace" officers. I am outraged more by their lack of action than those of the cops.
You think that three lobster backs surrounded by a mob of angry colonists would have had a fighting chance on Boston Common, back in the day?

to taze him so many times if at all. If they ingnored him he probably have gotten dressed or gone away. It was a victimless crime. If anything he himself was the victim for showing his small appendage to everyone. He will never hear the end of it and it will be on the internet forever. Wher only supposed to be used when someone was aproaching an officer in a threatening manner. Not for acting stupid or not following orders. I could have sworn I heard it was supposed to be a self defense tool for unarmed suspectes when they were aproaching an officer. Only if the officer feels threatened. Not because you don't jump when he says jump or ask a question instead of immediatley following orders without being a threat to anyone or have not done harm to anyone. I'll have to look it up.

but who of us hasnt seen file footage of cops being taken down in the loving and supportive arms of their fellow officers onto a pretty purple safety mat- in demonstrations that serve to show the cop what it's like to be tazed (on the lowest voltage possible)? The public is meant to have a "gosh- that looks like it would really suck- but its better than being shot in the face" attitude about tazing. In the situation of the nude wizard dude- the cops have an easy win. No doubt the cops that were chosen for that gig ( a daytime concert) were chosen because they are mellow- none are likely to have any history of abuse. They wanted to send cops that would be a "presence", whose strength lie in their long fuses. These are usually the cops they send to schools. So when they say "look- the dude gave us every reason to believe he was on narcotics, which lead us to believe he was capable of anything. There was no clothing to grab onto and we dont get paid enough to get into hand to hand combat with someone who is just as likely to bite our ear off as he is to give us a hug. His non-compliance was resulting in 3 of the 5 officers present at the venue being present- leaving the rest of the people unprotected from any incident that may have occurred while this clown was having his 15 min- so we tazed his azz". Im not saying its right- but the cops WILL win this one. When it comes to tazing we need to pick our battles really carefully.

Having said that, the guy was clearly stoned/drunk/high and naked in a public place. They gave him every opportunity to cloth himself to no avail.
Did they have to employ the Taser? Not in my opinion. There were three of them and only one of him. Clearly it could have been handled without the use of the Taser but the Taser keeps the police from being injured during an altercation.
The alternative was to beat him with nightsticks or Mace him.
It doesn't pay to be a drunken, naked asshole in public.

Tazering seems awful excessive- but the guy did not comply to repeated requests. Very polite & reasonable requests. The guy could not be left nude. Seems 3 officers could have taken him down and hog-tied him or something rather than tazing him. If I were one of the cops Id be thinking "Is this dude on PCP or something that when a gazillion volts are introduced will overload his heart and cause a heart attack?" The cops WILL win this one, though. They honestly looked like they felt theyd run out of options and had genuinely tried to get him to comply. Hope the naked wizard dude is okay- but kinda made his own bed. In the old days before tazers- method to subdue a nut like this was a good thunk on the head with a nightstick. Had this occured away from a large gathering of kids- like in an alleyway or something- the guy would have been beaten & softened up pretty good.

If this was a "public" event, as in a
city-sponsored event, this is to be expected. If it were a privately-sponsored event, like a concert, there should have been private guards to boot out the guy if he trespassed their rules.
The crowd was obviously sympathetic, but only armed with cameras and didn't go up against three thugs armed and ready to use guns, sticks, tasers, the usual arsenal of torture and murder of our paramilitary police.
What's even more disheartening is that the text comments in response to the video are largely against the naked wizard, or apathetic.
Most people won't even fight for their own civil rights, their freedom, their property, truth, honesty, justice; why would they fight for some random victim?

The first time I saw this kind of stuff was in Mexico, but since it has come to the US, I've been seeing it at concerts... inninially you want to step up and say something, but if you are with friends, they will tell you, DON'T, because, it is true, when the cops zoom in on someone as they did with this guy, you are seeing cops looking for action and willing, too willing to create action. These guys should NOT have concerts as their duty station because they are looking for crimes/points, they are a bummer to everyone. When you see a group of cops like this, you walk away, and just keep walking as if they don't exist, and pray for the sucker who looked at them twice or had them look at him... this guy on one hand asked to be addressed, but he didn't need to be tazed. When you have a hostile group of cops, you take names and file a complaint and move on. You can not save the person they have circled, you can only make their circle larger by joining the original offender/victim and their back up, which brings cars and it can become a riot and that's not cool either.. very expensive to bail out allot of people, and they cops would LOVE that... none of it is going to be their fault. These guys are weak to do that to a naked idiot..

I can't believe the number of similar stupid comments I read on that site. The guy was no threat to anyone, including the cops. His resistance, if you can call it that, was weak at best.
This situation is nothing those thick skulled cops couldn't have handled with two large bath towels. Jeez, more people saw this guy's dong because of the scene the cops created than would have ever seen if they had handled it more smoothly. If they'd told him that there was a Doritos truck 'over there' giving away free samples he'd have followed them like a lamb.
Sure, they approached him in an easy going way at first, but even I could tell the guy was cooked and wouldn't cooperate. Where was their 'plan B' that didn't resort to violence.
It's really bad when the weapon of choice to subdue an supposedly 'uncooperative' arrestee is the taser. Nothing in what that guy did justified being tased, NOTHING.

The guy shouldn't have been nude at a public event. Khomar is right, these cops acted as if they just wanted to roll him around until he became agitated enough to put the taser too. These cops weren't interested in covering him up to protect the "innocent" ladies in the crowd. If they were, they would have asked him once, maybe twice, to put his clothes on. Then they would have put him in the cuffs instead of dancing around with him. Either that or these three officers are so weak they can't handcuff a man without a taser.

Allow me to clarify my position
Maybe you got the impression that I would have the crowd defend this man's right to make a public ass of himself. No, I would not, and did not intend to. I wouldn't engage him either.
Nor would I bash this guy's head in if I or my wife/girlfriend/daughter or whatever had to catch a glimpse of his lack of endowment. I would simply direct my party to the nearest "clothed" section of the event and ignore/avoid any further encounters, knowing full well that someone like yourself would come along to "self police" the situation, which would most likely lead this man to reassess his situation.
The police response was typical, and the point is that it does not matter if it's a naked hippie or some poor urban guy lying face down on a subway platform about to meet his maker after doing... nothing unlawful!
