West Virginia GOP still needs 1,100 delegates

By The Associated Press

Facing a Friday deadline, West Virginia Republicans have more than 1,100 delegate slots to fill — just over three-fourths of the total — for their ambitious Feb. 5 presidential candidate nominating convention.

Fred Thompson has 55 delegates who intend to support the actor and former Tennessee senator at the “Tsunami Tuesday” event. That’s the most so far of any White House hopeful, according to the latest roster posted online Friday.

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney follows with 49 delegates wishing to represent him. Ron Paul of Texas has 38. The Texas congressman is edging out former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani and his 37 committed delegates.

what about other states?

This must be happening across the country. Does anyone have stats on the rest of the states? Since this is the most critical part of the battle, we need a comprehensive assessment of where we stand on all fronts.
It would be wonderful to have a webpage that shows each of the states, and shows what we need to win the election.
it could be similar to how the chipins work, or how ronpaulgraphs shows their stats.

WV's real Ron Paul delegate challenge begins December 1

MAGIC CONVENTION NUMBER is 724
(1446 possible total delegates, RP neets 50%+1 TO WIN)

"Any unfilled slots in the county- both county committee slots and at-large slots- can be appointed by the county chairman according to his whim. If he fails to do so, any remaining vacant slots will be appointed by the state chairman in the last week before the convention."

from Gabriel McCall ( mail.to.gabriel@gmail.com )
Ron Paul 2008 WV Convention Coordinator

There are OVER THREE DOZEN SMALL COUNTIES in WV that have innactive or poorly organized county Republican Exec committees. i.e. these counties have NO ONE declared for ANY of their twelve alloted convention delegates. I have just analyzed this on a spreadsheet and there are THREE HUNDRED (300) unfilled county slots not to mention the HUNDREDS MORE at-large slots.

This is a huge opportunity for Ron Paul supporters in the Mountian State. Beginning this Saturday, December 1, we need to be making contact with both the county chairmen/women in these low-Republican activity counties, AND contacting ALL registered Republicans who did not get around to signing up as delegate.

Plan the work, work the plan. WE NEED A PLAN to SECURE these OPEN SLOTS ASAP!

Get it moving WV

Ron has 77 delegates.

Mitt has 100 so far, may be buying delegates like the way he bought the IA Straw poll.

Come on WV, do not let Money beat HONESTY, blow the others away. Lead the victory march from WV.

What About the other candidates?

Complete list

LMAO now i see why u only

LMAO now i see why u only gave me puals #s shit i dont feel like counting anyone elses heh

11-28, 9 PM

Searching the list, numbers are:

Thompson 82
Romney 83
Ron Paul 69
Giuliani 54
Huckabee 11
McCain 11

I would say there is considerable work to do! Only today and tomorrow left.

Slightly Different than Yours

Mitt Romney 81
Thompson 79
Ron Paul 69
Guiliani 54

The next most important thing to do, besides being a delegate, is to get ever Ron Paul supporter sign up to vote on line for the delegates. The dead line to sign up to vote is also Nov. 30th.

Current Numbers

As of yesterday, committed delegates are as follows: Fred Thompson 62, Ron Paul 61, Mitt Romney 60, Rudy Giuliani 46, John McCain 8, Mike Huckabee 5, DuncaN Hunter 2.

However, there are 250 people running to be a delegate as uncommitted. These people running as uncommitted are largely from county executive committees and are probably old pols. That is not a good source of votes for Ron Paul.

All W.V. Ron Paul supporters need to at least register online to vote for Ron Paul's delegates. Deadline for registering to vote on line is Nov. 30th. The vote for delegates will happen sometime in January.

If anyone wants to register as a delegate contact me at jmeagan@frontiernet.net I will give you the e-mail address of the person that helped me with the paper work to become a delegate. You will probably have to fax it in now as the deadline is tomorrow.

Postmarked by Nov 30 (WVGOP in debt)

I was told that as long as the delegate application was POSTMARKED with $25 check by tomorrow, Nov 30, that the WVGOP would accept it. The WVGOP needs the money. They are deep in debt due to their irresponsible fiscal mismanagement and have been so for quite a long time. Here is a recent email from a local delegate requesting donations:

"Dear Fellow Republican,
The Republican State Party has initiated a statewide fundraising program that wants to find 55 people from each of WV’s 55 counties and ask these people to invest only $55 per year. This adds up to $166,375 which could eliminate the debt.
The Berkeley County Executive Committee is working hard to reach this goal of 55 pledges for $55 before any other county....today!
We have over 30 pledges already.
Please, please send me your pledge via e-mail and let's show the rest of the state we have the best Republican supporters and Republican Executive Committee in the state of West Virginia.
More information is attached....
With warm regards,

Delegate Craig P. Blair
West Virginia 52nd District "

keep this up top!

Bump

Your figures are out of date.

See below. I posted 11-28's figures, and they are 66 Thompson, 67 Romney, 63 Paul, Giuliani 51.

Come on WV residents, we

Come on WV residents, we need you!!

needs sticky

Please make this sticky.

BE THERE!!!!!

Go WV GO! Sign up to become a delegate. EVERYONE IN EVERY state should know that we as a group can get your travelling funds for the national convention.....but you have to become a delegate for ALL of us...and obviously for Ron Paul!

bump

he's closing in, but needs more

This is really important!

I'm bumping this to make sure that it gets the appropriate attention. Getting votes and delegates for Ron should be our biggest goal.

If there is a committee that is calling people in WV who have either donated to the campaign or has requested to be on the mailing list I would be happy to volunteer. The deadline for them to become delegates is FRIDAY! We have to make people realize this. Thinking that they are doing their part by voting in the primary isn't enough. Do most average people even know this is going on?

We have found that most of the people in our local Meetup group (GA) don't know what is going on with the campaign either official events, or grassroots efforts. I have also noticed that locally we have donors that are not connected with our Meetup group to be included in receiving information that way.

Does anyone have the current delegate count?

Current totals as of 11-28

This is down to the wire:

66 Thompson
67 Romney
63 Paul
51 Giuliani
The rest are under 10 each

Current numbers

I ran the numbers yesterday and got:
Thompson 62
Ron Paul 61
Mitt Romney 60
Rudy Giuliani 46

Maybe you had a better source.

Ron Paul Graphs

Ron Paul Graphs shows that there are at least 138 unique WV donors in Q4. Is there any way the campaign can contact these people to see if they are willing to be a delegate? This seems to be a logical source to find delegates.
To reverse the familiar saying put your mouth where you money is! :)

I agree

This is important.

We can All

post messages on ALL the WV meetup message boards.

148 delegates are undecided. I know a lot of RP supporters were going to register to be a delegate without claiming RP, out of fear they would be denied the position if they stated they supported RP. We have to cross our fingers on that one though.

You have until friday to fill up to 1100 slots in West Virginia

Call anyone you know in WV and have them register to be a delegate. It's not the voters that choose the candidate, it's the delegates.

81 Meetup supporters in WV

Just went to meetup.com and I see that there are 81 Meetup supporters in WV. If all of them signed up then we would at least be in front of the "Front Runners"!

I wonder about the other states as well

I know as of last week in Ohio Ron Paul was short several female delegates, I wonder how the other candidates are doing?

bump. This is important.

bump.

This is important. Those delagates are their, for the taking it sounds like. Just show up.

wish I lived there

This is an urgent deadline---what about Ohio and other states?
