St, Pete Debate
I'm new to this Forum. I want to upload pictures I captured off my close up video of Ron Paul speaking at our 600+ person Rally at the Palladium theater. The video itself has been forwarded to use as alternate view footage in a pro video which hopefully will make some fine commercials. The response from the crowd, at Midnight on a Wednesday night, was thrilling and energizing. After a long day of preparation, and the debate itself, Dr. Paul looked like he was ready for a good rest, But he had all of us waiting for him, and he did not let us down. During his speech, he got incredible crowd response, and you could see him getting energy from the crowd, He caught his second wind, from us. At the end, he looked strong, happy, and ready to go some more. Then we surprised him. The Clearwater meetup group Organizer Paul Bourgois presented Dr. Paul with two Ron Paul tshirts, one for him and one for Mrs. Carol Paul, signed by all of us at our Unity Rally earlier in the day. We had brought together 30 Peace groups to solidify the anti-war message. Dr. Paul lit up, and beamed with delight, and promptly put on his tshirt, to the great delight of the crowd. We are all still pumped up, and in the midst of our National Sign Wave. Wherever you are, bless you for what you are doing. This Freedom movement is just catching fire. We have only started. This could go planet wide, it is so powerful. Mike Henderson St. Pete Florida
Ain't it funny......
how some of the channels and sites are declaring a victory for Huckabee. Not one mention anywhere (that I've found) of Ron paul polling about 47% of the viewers on the CNN post debate poll. Mitt and Rudy are cracking under scrutiny, and so will Huck.
These debates are a farce, with little, to no content. They should be labled a Q & A session for the front runners.
Why is Huckabee suddenly the media darling?
Is it the Chuck-Huck commercial?
What is MSM's rational behind this?
It's the message...
Granger, where ever your post is as I think it's been removed.. Don't get down. No one is to get down.
Saying this, I would ask Ron Paul and staff to record his responses to the questions that were asked due to lack of time given and broadcast those videoed responses from all Ron Paul web sites.
The message still can be broadcasted in the style, giving respect to the message.
Once his responses are on-line, we need all to forward them to friends and family.
Please make it happen.
Last thing, why is the Tea Party web site always down?
Thank you.
Ron Paul is not a Gladiator
Ron Paul is more like a Gandhi or an MLK or a Jesus. He is a humble man full of goodness and integrity. His message of freedom and peace is doing all the fighting and winning this war of thought that is constantly being waged. He himself does not need to dirty his hands in the bloodsport that is the politics of lesser men.
I am glad that Ron does not stoop to their level, for it would injure his pristine image and character more than it would sully those of competing candidates. The fact that he was so blatantly mistreated in this debate will energize his supporters even more (including myself). CNN's efforts to marginalize him will fail because the injustice of it will prompt more grassroots activity and bring considerably more dedicated converts to the Revolution than a fair debate could manage alone.
I disagree with your assessment, but we're still going to vote for the same man in the primaries :)
Rudy's Performance?
After watching the exchange between Rudy and Mitt over immigration, I have got to believe this is going to take Rudy down a notch or two.
You could hear the trembling in Rudy's voice after he made the "sanctuary mansion" comment, as something in the back of his head told him... "you idiot, how are you going to get out of this one?"

“…This is an American cause, it’s a cause of freedom. There’s something going on it this country, and it stinks. It really stinks.
I was shocked! This does not sound like the Ron Paul that I know so I went searching for the video and it actually ends like this:
“…This is an American cause, it’s a cause of freedom. There’s something going on it this country, and its big. Its really big.”
That sounds more like Ron Paul.
I don’t know if that was a blatant act or a misinterpretation but I have to tell you “BIG” does not come close to sounding like “STINK” to me. The audio is clear.
It's fixed!
Good job, gang -- they fixed the transcript.

Grass roots
I watched the debate klast night and Rons comments again today. i think he does well- the truth shines through. Ron cantw in this election alone, its not all on his back, as he says "its our revolution" so people need to step up and rather than saying negitive things or they didnt like his performance. do something positive and spread the word. could you imagine how hard it must be for Ron- all the candidates dont like him!! The msm makes a joke out of him- yet he puts his neck out on the line for this country. I think we need to do a better job of supporting him. Its easy to sit in the bleachers and throw tomatoes- come get in the trenches, refocus on the purpose and recommit. This has never been about Ron Paul, its always been about the revolution- which is the people- now lets get back on track and take this country back!!!
Right On!

Paul's Best debate so far
This has got to be the best debate for Paul so far.
He sounded very strong with his answers, and probably made many start thinking about certain issues, they weren't aware of.
CNN Transcript of Ron Paul Video - ERROR
CNN's transcript of last night's debate of the Ron Paul video quotes Ron Paul as saying, "There's something going on in this country, and it stinks. It really stinks."
When I replay the Ron Paul video, it sounds like he is saying "it's big, it's really big." I believe this is (another) error in transcription. I looked at CNN's webpage but couldn't find their email address where I can contact them to correct this. Can someone help?
Thanks.
i saw that too
and mentioned it here: http://www.dailypaul.com/...
there's no information on who was the transcription person nor are there any email links to contacting cnn about errors in their information.
sad.
HE DID GREAT
I thought he did just fine with his speech. I saw the peoples faces in the debate, he had them thinking. I thought how funny they are tearing each other to shreds while Dr. Paul kept his cool. This is politics folks. This is a tough job. Given all this man has done, not one person should speak one word of negativity. Im sure there are other campaigns which feel the same frustrations. Never underestimate the power of positive thinking. We MUST be positive. In EVERY aspect. We must dedicate every minute figuring out how to bring people to this man. Remember we wont win them all. Move on to the ones you can! We must focus on becoming delegates and get active. Look up not down. WE ARE HERE TO WIN !!!!!!!!
$20,000,000
wouldnt $20 million shut them up? we have a whole month left to raise some dough. i don't even think he could spend it fast enough.
nice problem to have.
Yeah, $20M and delegates
Yeah, money is nice, but it CANNOT be stressed enough folks--become PC's in your districts, become delegates. If you were PISSED off by the bullcrap last night, then as most other people on this forum have said--resolve to do something about it by becoming a PC and/or delegate and infiltrate "the system" with Paul supporters. Money will buy us exposure. However, only getting delegates will get us the nomination .....
money is not everything
"wouldnt $20 million shut them up?"
not, it wouldn't. sure, they will be entertained by us for a few days but that would be it.
lets bring the fun back into this
i know the stakes are high, but this campaign should be fun and energetic not depressing and over serious.
...
the campaign should be such to lead to the nomination. that means that sometimes it will be fun and energetic (like nov 5 and great youtube videos and rallies) and occasionally less so. honest self-evaluation is an important - though by no means sole - ingredient to every success.
we are all here to help dr paul win and all differences are a mere matter of tactic.
Granger is right
Ron Paul was just absolutely terrible, and as a Ron Paul supporter is pains me to say that I think he clearly was the big loser of the debate.
Everyone was against him up there and he failed to deliver any good punches back. The coverage by CNN and Cooper was horridly biased and Paul hardly ever got a chance to chime in and then when he was given a question it had some sort of insult to peg Paul as an unreasonable candidate.
And Paul, unlike in other debates, failed to rebuke them. It was a mess and I know he's better than that. If I were an impartial voter, last night's debate would have turned me away from him because he did not show leadership qualities.
Then again, who knows since some experts are claiming last night was a win for Romney and I thought he was the next biggest loser next to Paul the way he continually avoided answers or stated, in round about ways, that America isn't ready for a bunch of stuff to which I retort then America isn't ready for as President and he should just get off the stage.
But I digress, Paul needs to be more outspoken and more clear in the future. He needs to tread lightly but force himself to be noticed. As Granger said, butt in sometimes, it won't kill ya Paul. Try not to be so defensive, because your message doesn't need defending, but don't be so offensive and brash.
I may sound like I'm contradicting myself, but what we needed to see was the same Paul we're used to seeing. But that Paul was not on the stage last night.
what?
he did fine! and obviously people applauded him in the debate audience, so they must have thought so too. of course there were some boos but even Giuliani got some on his 2nd amendment views.
he trips over his words a few times but people can see he is sincere and they can believe what he is saying. it doesnt' take much to hook someone. maybe just one line, or one subject that no one else on stage is talking about. i'm sure he added supporters last night.
keep up the good work guys.
The same people applauded
I'm assuming there were a bunch of Paulites in the audience because his applause hardly ever changed in volume.
This was his weakest debate, imo. And unfortunately, I think Huckabee and McCain came out looking the best.
What Granger??
Granger what are you talking about?? Ron Paul did great as usual. Who are you supporting here? Ron Paul for President!!
youtube search
So I decided to do a youtube search to see how many questions were submitted for each candidate. I did this last night during the debate and this is what I got. I realize I omitted Sam Brownback and Tom Tancredo, but does it really matter?
youtube debate question ron paul - 343
youtube debate question mitt romney - 215
youtube debate question mike huckabee - 162
youtube debate question fred thompson - 42
youtube debate question rudy giuliani - 8
youtube debate question john mccain - 2
Considering the amount of time the candidates got in relation to the number of questions put forth, what does this tell you?
I did it again this morning and the numbers were all different. Some videos were deleted and some were just talking about what happened in the debate.
I was upset last night. I guess I expected more fair coverage considering how well RP has been doing since Nov. 5, but on second thought, I'm really not all that surprised...
Then I thought about how many people I know who don't watch TV, and how his name is spreading by word of mouth like crazy. Word of mouth is very powerful. Makes me think of the band Phish. They didn't even have an album produced (just bootlegs) when they went to the west coast...
---------
"Better to be flexible like bamboo than rigid like oak, for when the storm comes bamboo will bend and survive, where as oak will crack and die."
Ron Paul is a fighter and a champion!
What you said was true, "the message of the Ron Paul revolution was already successfully relayed through the video." He could have responded in a different way or more modestly and that would have been fine. But, I think he did o.k.. He reinforced the fact that he is already successful and he is not giving up. The momentum is growing.
I wish the media would report more on how successful many of his rallies have been. They did however, report on his succesful fund raising. Still without the free publicity that the front runners recieve its kind of hard to get name recognition except at the grass- roots level. This is one of the biggest grass- roots campaigns I have ever seen in my life time.
I thought he did well
considering the circumstances. He courageously spoke the truth in a venue that was obviously rigged against him (out of 5000 questions, CNN couldn't find anything but a "conspiracy nut" and someone who wants him to run in a third party?*) and to a mostly hostile audience. He kept his head and presented the gist of his arguments in the miniscule times he was allowed.
If America doesn't want the truth -- and until this summer I had taken it as a given since 1988 (at least) that America doesn't want the truth -- that is no fault of Dr. Paul or of his supporters. CNN can get away with this kind of crap only because their audience buys it. That's "democracy".
Whatever comes of all this, so long as Dr. Paul and we remain true to ourselves, and to the truth, in the end we need have no regrets. I never expected anything like what's already happened -- tens of thousands, even hundreds of thousands of Americans awakening to Liberty -- so we're already far ahead. Just stay the course, speak the truth, and leave the final results up to the only One Who is truly in control of this show.
*As we know, these are exactly the two smears the Establishment wants to paste on him. No surprise here.
Serious Transcript Error
From CNN's page: (what is missing is in caps here)
"PAUL: He doesn't even understand the difference between non- intervention and isolationism. I am (NOT) talking isolationism. I am (NOT AN) isolationist. I want to trade with people, talk with people, travel. But I don't want to send troops overseas using force to tell them how to live. We would object to it here and they're going to object to us over there."
Jane, they must of fixed the transcript on CNN's website
just looked at the transcript and here is what I found concerning the Paul response to McCain's lie.
Paul: Absolutely. The real question you have to ask is why do I get the most money from active duty officers and military personnel?
(Applause)
What John is saying is just totally distorted.
(Protester shouts off-mike)
Paul: He doesn't even understand the difference between non- intervention and isolationism. I'm not an isolationism, (shakes head) em, isolationist. I want to trade with people, talk with people, travel. But I don't want to send troops overseas using force to tell them how to live. We would object to it here and they're going to object to us over there.
(Applause)
Holy fuck are you kidding?
Holy fuck are you kidding?
I agree RP needs to adjust his strategy in some areas...
For instance, when the whole neocon crowd starts to boo him about his foreign policy he needs to interrupt them say say, "Look, all of these problems have begun since the time we abandoned a non-interventionist foreign policy. My foreign policy isn't strange, it was the de facto foreign policy of the Republican Party up until middle of the last century. The definition of insanity is to keep doing the same thing and expecting a different result."
I love Ron Paul, but he does need to a jolt of testosterone. He's a doctor, maybe he can hit himself with some Depo-Test. Kidding, of course, but maybe it would help.
After watching the entire debate. . .
I was upset at Anderson Cooper for being a pretty awful moderator and a poor time keeper.
The issues of this campaign are complicated and complex, and reducing Dr. Paul or any other candidate for that matter to 30 or 90 second tid bit sound bites is doing a huge injustice to the people who are undecided about the current field.
I really wish one of the corporate mainstream media outlets would have a real debate about the challenges facing our Republic-where responses could be full complete and not hurried or rushed.
All the candidates, but especially Dr. Paul, would benefit from not being shackled to sound bite sized answers. If we limit the debates like this we end up with presidents that have sound bite sized intellects-like the current occupant of the White House.
Regardless, Dr, Paul, when allowed to speak, was brilliant and showed he is the only candidate who really truly represents the principles this nation was founded on. Don't lose hope, there's still a lot of time left and there will be other debates! Crucial to success will be the Tea Party-let's start gearing up for that!
Upset about Dr. Paul's treatment in the debate? Go to CNN and tell them who you think won! They didn't report that thousnads on the AM poll thought Dr. Paul would win, so go tell them how we rate Dr. Paul against Grandpa McCain!
was it a coincidence
At the end of Mccains little Thanksgiving with the troops speech when he says (that the troops said) "Let us win", Ron Paul points to the audience and THAT is when they started applauding.Perhaps it's just coincidence but the timing is interesting.
He was pointing at the
He was pointing at the "moderator" for an opportunity to respond.
Admit it RP sucked
There are dozens of posters on Daily Paul who could have done a better job than RP last night. RP missed tons of opportunity to introduce himself, or better yet, be the candidate dozens of Daily Paul's bloggers and posters say he is (believe he is and know he is (even if wrong).
Was his mic cut off and others remained open, because others had no problem, cutting in to make a point. And then when he made points, I have to wonder what his point was, like this one:"There's a revolution going on in this country and I'm proud to be part of it". That's frightening stuff to allot of angry Americans who are looking for a candidate that represents their anger and proposes solutions. Paul has solutions and he missed opportunity to make points. Maybe he thinks it's rude, but that rudeness is not hurting anyone on stage. People are so conditioned to rude who really remembers what? No one made headline news butting in and making points.
Last night Ron Paul's defense strategy failed him. It's time for him to be more balanced and show his "offensive side". His stand on the issues are offensive to some Republicans anyway. Neocons hate him, he offends them, and he needs to respectfully attack them. Not just stand there and wait nicely. It's not a doctor's waiting room were in. It's the Roman Colesium and he needs to FIGHT. He didn't say crap about MAJOR GOP issues, like immigration. What did RP say about immigration? The gay Brig Gen praised flight surgeons...what a great way to break in and say something for RP. RP was a flight surgeon. He said nothing. He was too busy being nice. Neocons have to look at this as WEAK. Is this what RP does when their prediction (real or imagined) of Islamic Fundlementalists come to the USA to attack us, stand there and be nice? They want blood...RP is not offering any blood at all...but he says spooky things like "revolution" and conspiracy theory, and apparently he's not the leader of this revolution, he part of it, so what the hell is this campaign? Bullshit (unless youre Paulbot, and believe Paul is never wrong).
And then at the end, what the hell is..."We don't even know how to spend our money?" It's an arrogant punk answer that doesn't reach out to the ignorant masses and say, "Send more money!".
The highlight of my evening was when a took a phone call from a local Obama supporter who asked me about helping their campaign effort, and as soon as I heard "Obama", I began gushing, "I love Ron Paul, I really do just LOVE Ron Paul..." and she said, "So I guess you're decided" with envy in her voice, and I said "uh huh".
Frankly folks, after last nights miserable performance by Dr. Paul, I'd say it's time to let the good Dr know it's not against the law to speak up during a debate to an audiance that wants BLOOD. Cut to heal this nation RP.
I think it's time supporters start making some demands on RP because he's NOT going to win standing on the side being polite and then giving soft and stupid answers to Americans who found the fights between Mitt and Guili what should have been a lead into a blood bath.
No RP didn't suck. But hero worship does suck:
There is a growing problem that I'm noticing with this RP campaign.
RP has repeatedly emphasized that he is secondary to his message.
Yet people are expecting him to some how be the message; i.e. the Hero to rescue this nation from the abyss.
I beg to differ. No man can be an island unto himself and serve as President. We can see the danger of that in our present state of affairs.
We need a leader not merely a hero. The difference is that a leader leads a people to act. In this country we have a Congress of inaction. Congress should represent the will of the people. If RP cannot garner support of Congressmen through the efforts of the people, he will NOT be able to lead. He will be a lameduck President from the get go if he ever gets there.
People have to understand, that getting their Congressman to support Ron Paul is the ONLY way that he will be perceived as anything more than an outsider.
In short, if you want RP to be anything more than your personal hero for wishful thinking, then put pressure on your Congressmen to hear him out, and join in the "Revolution".
glta
...
i agree that the performance not was stellar though it was not terrible either. it is just that it could have been better given everything - and i really mean everything - that dr paul has going for him.
i disagree with the content of your criticism, though. apparently you think he should have been more aggressive but i don't think that was his problem - in some sense he comes across as too angry at the debates and people do not see fully how genuinely nice and unpretentious he actually is. so it is not about being more aggressive, it is about making more effective points to specific objections and phrasing one's views in a way that will intrigue as opposed to alienate the viewers.
as i said, most of the closing statement was a mistake, though not a terrible one. dr paul has shown tendency in recent debates to speak as if he is at a rally and that is a big mistake. what fires up people at the rally ("we want freedom") might appear hollow or scary to non-insiders. "there is a revolution going on..." - is a typical example of this sort of mistake. the already committed are thrilled by it, however to the uninitiated it sounds like bragging if not somewhat unsettling nonsense.
I'm Offended
If you're not on Ron Paul's side, then get off the bus. Don't call what he says and does "BS" on a site dedicated to supporting him and getting him elected.
I agree in part with what you're saying, but saying, "he sucks" or "his strategy is BS" made it very difficult for me to even read through your post.
It's the truth Cameron
RP did not defend OUR issues, or show offence at the others stands on the issues to have won this debate.
I thought Huckabee did very well in articulating himself. I don't agree with Huck on the issues, but he did a good job. I thought McCain did a good job in taking opportunity to defend himself.
I thought Guili and Mitt did an OK job setting the stage for a blood bath.
But that blood bath should have come from the good Dr and it did not. He stood there. He is too busy being nice and that was and is a shame for ALL of us who he is representing.
As I said, some Daily Paul bloggers could have done better on stage when it comes to the revolution and RP's part in WINNING debates.
They Really, Really Tried . . .
. . . to hose the good doctor good. Fortunately, we have a good mouthpiece for the movement.
What a bunch of losers! Geez!
The debate...
...makes me want to riot in the streets, punch every anchor in the nose, skip on my taxes and boycott any industry associated with the establishment. I feel like storming my representative's office and dragging him into the street and pummeling him into submission.
Ahhhh, I will use these next few days to calm my Irish down, as I know it is really not the time or place to do such things and reprogram my anger into civil action again.
It is hard to hold onto Dr. Paul's advice of having fun with this campaign and revolution and adhere to Ghandi or Dr. King-like attributes of civil disobedience at a time like this. It is not my nature to stand down, but to fight. Fight I will, but without a fist and without a gun. Perhaps that time will come, but I do hope that it does not come to that for any of us. I do not want that for our Country, my family, or my fellow man.
Rise up people! Show yourself in numbers, in votes, in writing campaigns, in rallies, in campaigning, in dollars - and in example! We can still win with the message of Peace, Prosperity and Freedom.

All it took for me to wake up to the latent potential of the great Dr Paul were about 5 seconds in the South Carolina Fox debate. Honestly thats all it took. A single sentence lasting 5 measly seconds and I was hooked. I did the rest myself.
So don't get too hung up about the lack of time - that's life. That is the game. As the poem suggests just keep on truck'in and well'll get there eventually.

Does John McCain support the foreign Policy of Adolf Hitler?
Dear Friends,
First, I want to thank everyone who has posted comments including Robert Paul, Ron Paul's son. Every time I read your comments I get incouraged that the battle is not mine but ours, the collective group of freedom fighters at work in our little communities or big communities to make an amazing difference.
I wanted to comment on the exchange between Ron and John concerning a non-interventionist foreign policy allowing Hitler to come to power:
World War II started in 1938. Hitler's empire slowly grew a little more each year. The U.S. entered the war in 1944 and the war was over in 1945.
The United States allowed Hitler to come to power. Furthermore, if we consider the book "Wall Street and the Rise of Hitler" by Professor Anthony Sutton, US citizens or at least US companies helped finance the war. By seeing the tactics of U.S. foreign policy in the 1930's and 1940's we did have a Non-interventionist policy. And this was a policy FDR followed. Obviously there is debate about the attack on Pearl Harbor that I won't detail here, but suffice it to say our peace strategy was in the best interest of the United States and our War strategy was in the best interest of the United States for World War II.
What I would encourage Ron Paul to say (to McCains comments) if Dr. Paul and I were having coffee this morning. "Mr. McCain, our country in the 1930's allowed for the rise of Hitler. I wasn't even alive when that occured. As a government we should never consider going into another country and removing a leader just because we don't "like" him. Hitler did a lot of aweful atrocities, but his empire was coming to an end because Hitler had a foreign policy of Intervention. Would you promote and encourage the foreign policy of Adolf Hitler here in the United States, Mr. McCain?"
Then I would ask Dr. Paul if he needed needed any vitamins that he has helped protect for so long. Check them out http://dailypaul.com/node... . We used to get all of these vitamins from our food until the government controled the food supply...not quite to the extreme of Adolf Hitler, but if McCain.
Finally, I want to tell everyone that supports Ron Paul and the ideas of freedom that you are some of the most wonderful people I have ever met. You encourage, and work...your conversations are unpretentious and extremely enjoyable. I truly hope we continue our network of freedom lovers after Dr. Paul is President!
Yours in Health and Freedom,
Francisco
Was that a typo?
In your commet, you wrote that the U.S. entered WWII in 1944....uhhhhh, no. We entered the War in 1941 with a declairation of war. Now, we might not have gone into Germany until 1944, but our entry to the war was 1941. Please dont' forget North Africa, Sicily, Italy, D-Day, the Pacific....WWII represents a different time in our country. The threat to our country was real back then...today it is different. And, for John McPain to imply that our "isolationism" caused Hitler to come to power is just plain absurd. Hitler came to power because he capitalized on a down-trodden public, used hate and fear to aquire power, and then suspended civil rights of his own people (not even really his own people, he was Austrian). The treaty of Versalles, imposed by the allies after WWI got the ball rolling for Germany to allow a person like Hitler to come to power.
