CRASH!

Fed Inspector General Knows Nothing About The Fed

Thanks Rick.

Article at Huffington Post begins:

The inspector general tasked with overseeing and auditing the Federal Reserve knows pretty much nothing about what the Fed is doing. That's the conclusion that comes from watching the exchange Tuesday between Rep. Alan Grayson (D-Fla.) and inspector general Elizabeth A. Coleman.

Coleman could not tell Grayson what kind of losses the Fed has so far suffered on its $2 trillion portfolio, which has greatly expanded since September. She appeared unaware that the Fed engages in trillions of dollars in off-balance-sheet exchanges. She is not investigating the role of the Fed in allowing the collapse of Lehman Brothers.

She did not know where the Fed has invested its $2 trillion on the liability side of the balance sheet. "I do not know. We have not looked at that specific area at this particular point on," she said.

Good job Grayson...

I'll bet these Fed bastards would love to get rid of this guy.

You can see them all very uncomfortable with his questioning.

A lie always squirms and shifts when the truth comes around.

"What have you given us sir?"
"A republic ma'am - if you can keep it." -Ben Franklin

Pawnstorm

he also asks

if she isn't the one who has the authority to investigate and audit the fed, who is? this is the way grayson operates. he only asks the right questions before coming to a conclusion, leaving propaganda out. this is how you expose the fed for what it is. the rest of congress needs to take a lesson from grayson.

She answered one question...

when she confirmed her title.

that's pretty

that's pretty pathetic..

Alan Grayson is so cool though :D

After a dozen times, finally I saw the YouTube

My feeling is that Alan Grayson was giving Elizabeth Colman questions that were related to the IG office, so they were confusing, because you can see, she's trying to answer his questions, she tells him repeatedly, her team is researching, collecting papers...

Democrats have been saying to "give Obama a chance", and here's his appointment for IG, and what is Grayson doing? We all know she is new to the office and we all know that Obama is bringing change, and I would think her four months would be from the time of her appointment... I get the feeling she is good at what she does, and I also get the feeling she will investgate what Grayson was asking... I believe she did and found where he was confused...

But there is something about this questioning... the way Grayson is dressed,, "attention cathching" and his attiotude, "as if he has caught a rat"... and I also get the feeling, if the tables were reversed, Grayson would not do so well. He appears a bully, or I just get the feeling, somethiung is up with him.. maybe he's thinking this is an opportiunioty to get more supporters (from the right?).

I wouldn't say the Fed Inspector knows nothing about the Fed... I would say the Democrats are procticing "ballance of power" as a lone party

questioning

the party of CHANGE and you still want to give excuses for trillions of FRN's that we have borrowed from the fed being spent without the slightest clue from the spenders or the overseers where and what it is spent on. please if you want to make excuses then just vote republican, because we had many years of excuses from them. thats why we need a third party, the two we have are one. and they will continue to spend way more then they can tax for. no end insight until we END THE FED everything else is just plain bullshit !!!

DAN

Hey Granger

are you her mentor?

Grayson knows this lady is just a front.

Marilyn in Lake Jackson

And he is not confused at all. He wants the Fed. Reserve to come clean about their private use of the American citizens' money. Just like he asked her, "If you don't know, who does?" She wouldn't even tell him that. Just more BS and covering up. So send on S R 1207, co-sponsored by Grayson and I think around 140 respresentatives by now.

MarilynInLakeJackson

THE WAY HE IS DRESSED?

ATTENTION CATCHING?

It the tables were turned? All that is going on here is Grayson underlining the fact the the IG is a ceremonial position, nothing more.

Grayson may be a bit of a statist on some votes, but he represented the people's interest in this exchange, clearly. He has a pretty good handle on the Fed's free reign, and he supports HR 1207. The mandrake mechanism must be understood, and the public must come to a better understanding on where money "comes from", how it comes into existence, and where "money goes".

This exchange is a good start, Toto was definately pulling the curtain back here.

And yes, she is very good at what she does, which is deflection.

She does have...

...a useful function; it is to deflect attention.

Slightly off topic...

...but if the fed is a private bank and somewhere along the line we end the fed, are we responsible for the fed's debt? If we are, why?

Can't we just limit or inhibit their "right" to print money and make them insolvent?

from Rothbard's book The Case Against the Fed

p 147:
Of the Federal Reserve assets, except gold, all are easily
liquidated. The $345 billion of U.S. government and other
federal government agency securities owned by the Fed
should be simply and immediately canceled. This act would
immediately reduce the taxpayers' liability for the public
debt by $345 billion. And indeed, why in the world should
taxpayers be taxed by the U.S. Treasury in order to pay
interest and principal on bonds held by another arm of the
federal government—the Federal Reserve?

Thanks!

.

WOW his should be broadcast for everyone to see.

Yea this is insane...its time to get rid of this shit.forget the audit, abolish it and anything else they try to replace it with.It shouldn't have been created in the first place, if we get rid of this well probably get rid of 90% of everything else that's messed up.

Wish I could say I was suprised...

..however, this is sickening.

This is typical. Nobody

This is typical. Nobody knows nothing and it goes no where. She doesn't want to reveal that she really has no useful function when it comes to the Fed.

this shows

This shows why it is important for 1207 to pass.

Liberty is our campaigns gift to the world it is our manifest destiny.
Freedom is a movement who's time has come. Our campaign will lead world wide freedom.

Liberty is our campaigns gift to the world it is our manifest destiny.
Freedom is a movement who's time has come. Our campaign will lead world wide freedom.

How is it possible that the

How is it possible that the audio works for some and not for others like you and me?

This is nuts!? Never had this happen on Youtube before... Not really sure what could cause this either.

I could be wrong about this but...

...it seems the problem is that she cannot conduct a direct audit of Reserve Bank operations - rather she reviews the Board's supervisory and oversight functions as they relate to the Reserve Bank's lending programs. She's limited in what she can and does know...and what I gained from that entire 5:26 is that what she can and does know is very limited.

Essentially this congressman is asking these questions to the wrong person. The problem is that she cannot conduct a direct audit of Reserve Bank operations, rather she has to review the Board's supervisory and oversight functions as they relate to the Reserve Bank's lending programs - in other words she is in charge of keeping tabs on the Feds own oversight system to make sure it complies.
The problem is that - to get any good answer - the people we'd be asking are basically the Federal Reserve Boards' very own auditors - and they are already exempt from reporting on the Fed’s funding facilities. Things like the Primary Dealer Credit Facility, Term Securities Lending Facility, and Term Asset-Backed Securities Lending Facility, etc. are left out. Nor do they have to include discount window operations, open market operations, or agreements with foreign central banks, such as the ongoing dollar swap operations with European central banks (to quote the recent C4L open letter).

The only independent auditors of the Fed that I know of are those that conduct the annual financial statement audit.

To me this video is just more compounding proof that the Fed is operating with dangerously little congressional transparency in a dangerous time. If you are, like I am, of the opinion that actions taken by the federal reserve play heavily in our economy, then you must also see that their actions have the potential to influence our property and safety. These are things that we elected members of congress to uphold and protect, and I expect them to demand transparency into those actions to ensure their soundness. This vid is just proof that they are investigating perhaps little more than a brick wall.

yes, this is just more evidence

demonstrating how Congress is not in control of the creature it created back in 1913. That makes this video golden, no pun intended.

Monitary policy transparency?

Perhaps we'll never know where our taxes go, except to Fed policies. This is what happens when big government oversight has no insight or competence to handle taxpayer money.

Politicians and their agencies are ill equipt for the truth of the Feds dominance and deception. Right or wrong paychecks are taken as Federal Reserve Notes, the justification of which is improper and immoral. Don't expect much change either.

and then you die

Part of the problem

Weenis writes "she is in charge of keeping tabs on the Feds own oversight system to make sure it complies." Seriously, is this a full-time job? She's probably got a staff too. I'm really of the opinion that most people who work in government do nothing all day. This lady is a classic example.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaand..........

why are none of the rp peeps even remotely close to being surprised by this.

great job grilling.

i am thankful to have him exposing the fed for what it is. i think it is important to commend him more for that than bring up every piece of legislation he's co sponsored and try to pick apart what we don't like about him. he's an honest guy and he's even more of a constitutionalist than 99% of republicans in the house.

Huff Post

I'm just glad to see this being covered on a liberal blog. It goes to show that there are certain ideals that should appeal to all Americans, not just certain political factions.

It's good to see Rep. Alan

It's good to see Rep. Alan Grayson asking tough questions, but still, isn't he the Rep who sponsored the Pay For Performance Act of 2009?

Here's an interview where Cavuto grills him on that: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ITq19ezj_Xg

Yeah...

...and he was WAY wrong on that one. Still, his grilling of this criminal MAY indicate honesty; naive honesty, perhaps, but honesty nonetheless.

For me, I'll take an honest congressman who has no clue about constitutional government over a dishonest one who knows it like the back of his hand.

Wow! The perfect govt employee

Bet they'd like to clone her.

Who is the man at 4:21 in the 2nd row in the back ground.

He leaned forward and whispered something to the lady in front on him. And she then whispered something to the controller WHILE SHE WAS TALKING.

Some shady shit.

Good catch! We should try to find out who he is

Go Alan Grayson! I read his website, and found that he used to be an attorney, specializing in government contracts. He is also, of course, a co-signer on HR 1207. He is new in the House, so let's welcome him. His style blows me away.

MarilynInLakeJackson

lol wut?

how is this allowed to happen??

nearing the beginning of this clip the guy should have cut her off and asked "well then what are we paying you for"

let alone that they haven't made (from what i can see) ANY progress in their investigations in 8 months?

I have a very good feeling about soon being able to audit the fed.

I am seeing a lot more politicians asking questions which they seem to know that anyone affiliated with the federal reserve cannot answer.

I've given you a republic; and its your job to keep it.

Shuck & Jive.

She was cool. Deflected everything. Unaccountable. Waived the hardballs, waiting for the change-up that never came.

Didn't say anything. Perfect FED and CFR gal. Say nothing, stand tall.

If the guy asked, "If your children were brutally murdered, what would be your response?"

"We'll have to look into that."

is anyone else

having trouble hearing the audio on this? I cannot understand any of it.

Un-friggin-believable!

Just what does she actually do to earn her salary? She doesn't seen to know or understand anything about the company she "works" for...so just how does she justify her existence?
Once again, a FABULOUS job by Rep. Grayson of Florida!!! His performances have, to me, seemed consistent...even as the "new guy". His questioning has again proven than it IS NOT a Dem or Rep thing that denotes good or bad for government...it's good guys and bad guys that make the difference!! I am very, very pleased to see another good guy slugging it out with the bad guys!!!!
Never give up - Never surrender, Mr. Grayson!!!!
