"The Republican Party is the de facto Libertarian Party"

This, written by John Feehery, who worked as a staffer for former House Speaker Dennis Hastert and other Republicans in Congress, as part of an op-ed column posted at CNN.com today:

Mr. Feehery perhaps would have been more accurate to write that the Republican Party "thinks" it's the de facto Libertarian Party, but their abandonment of many constitutional principles over the past 40 years is the reason the Libertarian Party came into existence in the first place.

The Republican Party leadership's disturbingly disparaging treatment of Ron Paul during the 2008 presidential campaign is all the proof that is needed that the Republican Party is NOT the de facto Libertarian Party... Far from it, indeed.
