Grass roots movements are a powerful tool that has brought about much change in this country. The April 15, 2009 Tea Parties were in a sense a national attempt to create a grassroots movement against the passage of the biggest federal budget in U.S. history. On the surface, standing as conservatives and voicing our displeasure with excessive spending seemed like a worthy cause. Yet simmering below the surface is a movement that threatens to divide our party and as a result, our nation.

My wife, son, and I decided to attend the Tea Party at Clear Lake Park in Nassau Bay with the intention of showing solidarity with fellow Republicans. There were many people in the crowd I’m sure who like us, feel as though Republicans represent a rational, logical choice that opposes big government and can provide reasonable and realistic alternatives. To our chagrin, a large part of the crowd represented the dissenters who not only oppose the democratic agenda but the Republican platform that most claim to be a part of. We were in all reality met with a libertarian rally of secessionists with rebel flags, anarchists who exalt the cry of, “Who is John Galt”; and the Campaign for Liberty shirts and homemade signs claiming they are bearers of the Constitutional truths. Speaker after speaker railed against the federal government using a rhetoric that was bordering on inciting rebellion until the grand master of all libertarian rhetoric Ron Paul responded to the crowd with chants of, “end the Fed and bring back the Gold Standard”. We’d had enough by this point.

What happened at this Tea Party though very disturbing reinforces several key things for me personally. It reinforces in me the commitment I’ve made to defeat Ron Paul in next year’s Republican Primary to represent the people of the 14th congressional district. As much as I have already read, seen, and heard from the Paulistas and their intimidation tactics of name-calling, creating false websites in my name and the occasional threat of bodily harm; I know that my voice of reason won’t be silenced. This particular tea party only reinforces my belief that the libertarians are attempting to tear down the Republican Party from the inside out. Many efforts are certainly covert but in this case openly criticizing Republican leaders and playing up only the fiscal conservatism of their platform. A platform that provides no real answer except “withdrawal”.
I have to believe that middle class Americans are looking for a way to end this widening gap between the liberals and their increasingly socialistic agenda and our own fringe element who too often scream loudly without providing pragmatic and realistic alternatives. The ideology that drives this behavior is creating a divisiveness that threatens to rip the social fabric of this country apart.

As a member of what I hope is the next true Republican class in Congress, I along with other civil Republican leaders such as Pete Olson, Paul Ryan, and John Boehner who have true political capital can provide a practical vision and response that will address the problems we face. But for now; don’t take the bait of the libertarian fringe. We are the party of ideas and we will get our chance if we stick to true Republican values.

I did not think that people existed like this outside D.C. Dude has no shot. He website is a complete joke. The smear pages on Ron where the best, I liked everything on them.

This man has done nothing except suck off the govt his entire life. He is not quailified for the job he has much less representing the good people in his district. Of course it should be no surprise to read his solutions to problems include more government. I love how somehow saying my grandfather fought in WWI makes him patriotic.

Both he and his wife are educators with government jobs. Won't he be surprised when his pension doesn't exist.

Thanks for the "Do you know Ron Paul" page, its very informative and convincing that the good doctor is fighting the good fight. After meeting Mr. Paul twice last year, running around with the meet up group, fulfilling my delegate duties and donating cash. I will make sure to donate yet again to Ron to make sure he goes back to congress with the Constitution in his back pocket and continues the work to:

1. get rid of the Federal Reserve and return to the Gold Standard

2. get rid of the Department of Education

3. get rid of the IRS

4. Vote against and does not support the Patriot Act.

5. Vote against the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act

6. bring home all troops from Iraq immediately and shut down U.S. military bases worldwide.

7. pull us out of the United Nations

8. cut off ALL foreign aid to ALL countries

9. pull us out of the World Trade Organization

10. pull out of the World Bank

11. pull out of the International Monetary Fund

12. pull out of NATO

13. pull us out of NAFTA

14. end the war on drugs and legalize marijuana.

15. oppose making immunizations for children mandatory.

He poses Dr. Paul's positions as if they are a bad thing. I am reminded of the a movie, the one where Michael Douglas is a widowed President? Anyone remember this? Anyway, while I didn't agree with his leftist policies in the movie, I am reminded of what he said to his opponent. He laid out everything he was for and then said, "the real question isn't why I opposed the Patriot act or want to abolish the Federal Reserve, the real question is, why don't you?" You get my point. This guy is a joker. Hell, even Reagan wanted to abolish the Department of Education. This is why quit the Republican party last summer. They don't get it.

Thank You so much for running against Ron Paul, I am so sick of that man telling the truth to anybody that will listen. It really frosts my balls that he would even consider abolishing all those cool things we have like, Income Taxes, fiat currency that can be inflated at the drop of a hat (I mean why would we want something sound that couldn't be manipulated), and the war on drugs...I mean wow! imagine! He would actually leave the decision to put something in my body or not with me! What a radical loser!

My God, What is this world coming to. If that bastard Paul has his way, we will see the undoing of all of those international bastions of rape and usury like the The World Bank and The IMF! Where would dictators and communists then go to fund their elite classes at the expense of their constituencies? We can't have this!

I ran across your campaign information in blog posts and could not find a contact number or email address. If you are serious about running for office, I would advise for you to place all your contact information so the public has a means to contact you--unless you do not care about what the public has to say.

I will say this, if you do run against Ron Paul, you will face a battle like no other. Ron Paul has well over 115,000+ rabid supporters who you label as nuts. We are highly organized, dedicated, and passionate about his message for he has been right about many issues and stands upon principle.

My question to you is quite simple: How do you believe you can accomplish your goal in defeating Ron Paul when you brand your message based upon the failed positions of the old Republican guard? How are you going to convince others that adhering to the same old branding will be a victory for the Republican Party and your campaign?

If we make videos saying I am running against Ron Paul all we have to do is tell people about him. Anyone can make a video against/for Ron Paul. It could be another information campaign.

We have to start thinking like the CFR and the trilateral group in order to beat them.

"Did you know that Ron Paul wants to abolish the IRS. I mean what could you do with that extra money without taxes? Without taxes our government couldn't bailout CEOs of banking companies and wall street. I don't want to see that happen do you?"
