Here is the back story on this book signing:
On Friday, November, 23, Glenn Beck hosted a book signing at Barnes and Nobles in Akron, OH from 7-8pm. We Are Change informed our Ron Paul meetups 330 and 519 about this signing. I did not find out about this event until the last minute, and met with another Ron Paul supporter at Barnes and Nobles around 7:40pm. We wanted to ask Glenn Beck why he said that Ron Paul supporters are terrorists, when we know that he knows that all Ron Paul and his supporters stand for is the constitution. We wanted Beck, on video, to admit that he was told to say we are terrorists. We wanted to ask if Beck’s statement was to support HR1955. We REALLY wanted answers.
That was in our dream world, where we thought we would actually have the time and opportunity to talk to Beck. There was no such opportunity. The store was PACKED, and upon entering, you were immediately informed that you could ONLY get a signature (which could not even be personalized), and maybe a handshake. Beck’s staff, which was easily more than 10 standing around his signing area alone, took the books and passed them through the line for the people (as seen in video). There was no way to have a polite conversation with Beck, and we wanted to keep the LOVE in the Revolution.
We had a Glenn Beck book and a Ron Paul book. Since we had both, the staff allowed Dr. Paul’s book to be signed. Beck signed the book w/o looking at it first. He then noticed, after signing it, that it was not his book. He glanced down at the book, closed it, and noticed that it was Ron Paul’s book. He then said “oh,” as he noticed what he had done. He continued smiling and did not say anything or make a scene.
We decided we are going to use this book to make some money for Ron Paul. We are hoping that this will be, pardon my language, a sort of kick in the nuts to Beck. We are going to inform Beck of his contribution to the Ron Paul campaign. Since there was no opportunity to talk to Beck and no way to show him how we feel about what he said, w/o sending the message to his followers that we might be terrorists. This is the best way we could think of, at the time, to get back at him a little.

If the book does get over $2300, we have plenty of folks in our meetup who aren't maxed out. We may just have to make multiple donations! The plan right now is to have ALL proceeds (less ebay/paypal fees)go directly to the campaign itself. My hope is that the winner will just relist it and do the same thing. Maybe this book could generate multiple $2300 donations.... we'll cross that bridge when/if we come to it.

That is ingenious. I was going to suggest burying the total book price amongst many donors.
Its not like you are going to China to give people money to donate! haha!

I think you're going to need to put a note up on the Ebay page that any amount over X (whatever puts you over the max donation) goes to say. RonPaulBlimp or something like that. I wonder if Ebay would have a fit if you told the person to donate the money themselves... shrugs..

How did that hurt him? He would put the winnings directly towards to charity, thus losing nothing but the letter.

Couple Ideas!
1. I saw the closing date for the Ebay auction is December 5. If possible, change the closing date to November 30th, and donate the full amount the same day. Since the theme of November 30th is "Rudy's Reading List" a cleverly done news report would first cover the Rudy's Reading List story, and then segue into your story about Glenn signing Ron's book by mistake, even show the video clip of it.
2. If that's not possible to change the closing date, I encourage you to donate the funds on December 16th, for the Tea Party. Please also contact the major and local news networks with your story and a copy of the video.

Is it possible
to go beyond the donation amount of $2,300. or $4,600 if a couple are buying it,by putting anything above the legal amount into a PAC? Can't PAC donations go up to $5,000?

Yes, I heard Beck last night on Coast to Coast, of all places. He was touting his book but also mentioning Ron Paul's name, so I guess he is just riding on the coattails of the recent controversy. Anyway, Ron Paul's name was mentioned quite a bit, so thanks to George or whomever for the free publicity!
Rush Limbaugh made a ton of money selling...
Wow, super idea, and ebay is such a great place to advertise - I hope it goes for some trendous amount like what Rush Limbaugh had to match on the letter *he* sold on Ebay.... He sold off a letter sent to him and signed by something like 27 legislatures asking him to apologize for his PHONY SOLDIER comment.
Rush laughingly sold it off on ebay AND HE ADDED that he would match whatever amount the book sold for to a veteran firemans fund or some such thing.
One wealthy lady pushed the bidding up to something like $1.3 million (I may be way off, I dont remember exactly) and LOL Rush had to fork up the money to match her donations. The wealthy lady said she was returning the letter to the original senders so that Rush couldnt use it anymore for propoganda... (or some such thing)
It was quite a newsworthy even on the radio - well at least the Rush Limbaugh radio show...
Rush is not what he used to be.
There was a time when people listened to him but ever since he became a shill for Bush and the neo-cons he has lost it. Rush likes to brag he can pick the Republican nominee. Like he still has the power. What he will not admit is that he antagonized the real conservatives in 06 by calling them cut-and-run conservatives. All because they would not vote for the lesser of two evils anymore. All because they would not vote the way Rush ordered them to. One guy even called in and tried to warn him about what he was doing. His ego would not listen and he kept doing it.
Well the Republicans got their neo-con asses handed to them in 06 and Rush will not admit he helped it to happen but he knows it. That's why he will not come out and support any candidate. He pretends it is because he has to be responsible but the real reason is his ego can't afford to be wrong again.
He has already said that Ron Paul does not have a snowballs chance of winning, so he screwed himself there, and at the same time admits Ron Paul has a lot of passionate supporters. Isn't this the guy that used to say you have to be passionate about something in order to succeed?
If Rush were half the conservative he says he is he would already be supporting Ron Paul. That is not going to happen. Rush is in with the Washington Establishment who want a war in Iran and knows Ron Paul is the only thing standing in their way.
Let Rush continue to antagonize the conservative base by insulting Ron Paul. It proves that Rush has become what he once hated and that is the best endorsement Ron Paul could get from anyone.
Rush is an embarrassment
He used to be more 'liberal' then changed his shtick to gain an audience. When the neo-cons fade from fashion, you can bet Rush change his tune again.

I gave GB a copy of that same RP book signed by about 20 RP supporters from our Fort Wayne meetup group, last Saturday. Most had signed it "not a terrorist".
